The time to revise my old prescription had arrived…read more Dr. Varriccio sat me in front of his optical equipment and afterwards he indicated I needed new lenses. Took them about a week to make the new lenses, which will be mounted on the frame I provided. It cost me around $180.00 after which I was handed my new lenses/glasses. Dr. Varricchio indicated I should wear them for few days and come back if there was any complaint. After few days I returned and indicated to him not being able to read fine print as well as not being able to see afar (I could see better without my glasses). Once again he sat me in front of his optical equipment when finally he said "THIS IS AS FAR AS I CAN GO" !!!!! Pretty unprofessional if you ask me. His office did charge Humana my, medical insurance company. I reported the above issue with Humana and as we speak am already dealing with their Grievance Department. Brion has been incredibly patient, professional, diligent, and meticulous with me and in helping me get the proper glasses and tools for me to function and live my life. With my prescription, the slightest margin of error can create distortion and loss of function for me. And the type of Glasses I can use are limited. It has been a lot to get used to and very frustrating and scary. But I'm grateful I have Brion as part of my team to help me navigate the eyeglass side of it. He is a master at his craft. Not only had my vision regressed from my great results, but I developed cataracts. Dr. Modi told me the light adjustable lens was the only way to get me back to my original great results. Although it is a process, the results could not be better. I never anticipated the quality of vision this implant gave me! I was fine with just getting the cataracts resolved never expecting the wonderful acuity Dr. Modi gave me with this amazing adjustable lens! What a mistake going to Dutchess Optometry in Poughkeepsie! Through the years, I've chosen to drive to the Red Hook office where they are wonderful, amazing and professional (the only reason for any stars). Christine is awesome! Because of you, Emily, Dutchess Optometry will not see anyone in my family and I will make it my business to share my experiences with everyone I know. The doctors are very good there but the some of the the front desk people (your Poughkeepsie office) need to go get jobs at a prison. Here's what happened, this time: I ordered colored contacts. Dr. Lappin told me the brand that has them in colors, she read me the list of colors, I chose my color. People fitting the glasses and doing appointments are nice enough ut the eye doctor, how do I say…read morethis nicely? A 'Karen'.. she is so easily offended and petty. When I go every year, since everything is covered under my benefits we make the appointments and go get our eyes checked. When I was getting my eyes checked, the eye doctor (lady) was writing up my prescription. I told her that since my eyesight hadn't changed that dramatically, I would like to keep my same prescription as the year before. This made Dr Karen visibly angry, as I noticed her turn beet-red. "If you're not going to use the prescription, then why waste my time?" I told her 2 different prescriptions will make my old glasses not usable... but just a mask-wearing, self righteous, easily offended individual. Very unhappy. The other drawback is my glasses that we get from this place seem to get cheaper and flimsyer every year. And they charge for everything... It's just not a great experience
