The staff and doctors at Hyde Park Optometry are so friendly and provide a level of personal care that it feels more like visiting with friends. The office is clean, warm and inviting. Everyone is welcoming and treats you like they've known you forever. The spacious room dedicated to eye glass frames feels more like someone's home - not "doctor office" blah. I would highly recommend this office - the personal attention you'll receive in this welcoming office environment will impress you. read more

Dr. Lewick was fantastic. He answered all of my questions and I left his office feeling much better about what has been going on with my eyes. The overall ease of the Eye Exam and picking out glasses was great as well! read more

Everyone in this office is so friendly and helpful. Dr. Murnin and Dr. Chadwick are fantastic! The only two things I would like to see change/ add are more evening appointments (or at least until 6) and make their inner doors wider for wheelchairs. Other than that, I would recommend Hyde Park Optometry to everyone. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly! read more

The time to revise my old prescription had arrived…read more Dr. Varriccio sat me in front of his optical equipment and afterwards he indicated I needed new lenses. Took them about a week to make the new lenses, which will be mounted on the frame I provided. It cost me around $180.00 after which I was handed my new lenses/glasses. Dr. Varricchio indicated I should wear them for few days and come back if there was any complaint. After few days I returned and indicated to him not being able to read fine print as well as not being able to see afar (I could see better without my glasses). Once again he sat me in front of his optical equipment when finally he said "THIS IS AS FAR AS I CAN GO" !!!!! Pretty unprofessional if you ask me. His office did charge Humana my, medical insurance company. I reported the above issue with Humana and as we speak am already dealing with their Grievance Department. Will keep you posted as this story developes.

I've been trying to get in touch with these folks at…read morespecifically the ophthamology department for my ailing father and I've been placed on long holds each time for 5 phone calls (the longest I could stand was 45 minutes before I had to go back to work). When you call, it immediately puts you on this presumptuous classical violin music that I've heard on repeat for hours at this point in totality, with intermittent messages to use their "callback service." The callback service doesn't work (I've set two different phone numbers in their alleged "callback service." It's been 72 hours and neither device has been called back. My phones are certainly not broken, both are receiving calls from everyone BUT them completely fine. Hit 0 and it sends you back to the message to use their horse sh*t callback service. Or they're filtering area codes outside 845 which would be insane as most people are on mobile phones these days). They are certainly open the days of the week I called. It appears this phone number is for an ophthamologist, not even an internist or infectious disease doctor (yes, I realize there's a pandemic going on, but this practice seems irrelevant to that. I've been getting responses back faster from my hospital and we are in a high-case area for coronavirus and a far higher population density, if that tells you something about efficiency and care). My father came in for a visit in response to recent vision loss / blurriness and they struggled to understand what the doctor (Dr. Whitzel? Witzel?) was saying, so I've been trying to contact them to clarify confusion from my parents who said they did not understand a lot of what was covered in the visit. Yes, of course I am concerned when the only thing they understood in the whole visit was "he has a brain problem." I am on the other side of the country, and unable to accompany them to these visits (they are hard of English and resistant to hiring nurses / help), but I do often rely on having to call / followup with doctors to clarify findings / next steps. If I responded this way to my job I would have been fired yesterday -- no, probably last week. Happy to change this whenever this office decides to respond to their queue of "callbacks."

And they are at half staff. Been with the group when they were mid Hudson medical group. Never had a problem getting an appointment or a phone call back. From them. It's not the doctors or nurses, it's CareMount!!!!!! They double and triple bill you. Make sure you get a receipt..... it's a sad time when you can't trust your doctors office.

I truly appreciated the care and concern Dr. Chad Lewick, O.D. and the entire staff at Hyde Park Optometry extended the special Lady in my life yesterday. She was visiting me from out of town and developed a serious eye irritation. Upon calling the Office the Receptionist immediately made every attempt to get MaryAnn seen ASAP. Due to a last minute cancellation she was able to be seen within 15-minutes of my call. However. Dr. Lewick kindly advised he would have seen her on an emergency basis that same day. Surprisingly his keen diagnostic skills identified the cause of inflammation due to arthritis. He prescribed an appropriate treatment plan and follow up visit within the next several days. And he also suggested possibly integrating the services of a Rheumatologist if warranted. Bottom line MaryAnn, was so relieved to find such a caring Optometrist and support staff, that she chose to have Dr. Chad Lewick as her new Optometrist. read more

My visit with Dr. Lewick last week was outstanding. He does an excellent exam and explains results clearly so I could understand him. Unfortunately, I have dry eye and macular degeneration (dry) and again, Dr. Lewick did a clear, precise overview of my condition and explained the results of my test. The office staff could not be any more professional and friendly. In particular, I worked with Dorothy, who fielded all my phone calls, emails and questions in a prompt and courteous manner. She was my first point of contact with Hyde Park Optometry and can make or break the patient's experience. Kudos to Dorothy and the rest of the OUTSTANDING STAFF!!! I've been going to Hyde Park Optometry for years. The doctor and staff are always pleasant and helpful. I love the personal care and personal attention I get at this office. After every annual checkup, I leave with a clear understanding of how my eyesight is doing and what I can expect over the next year. When I need new glasses, the expert at the office is very kind and very patient when I struggle to find just the right style. When I finally decide, she fits the glasses and lenses perfectly. All the staff is great. I'm thankful that we have such a great optometrist so close to home. read more

My wife and I have been visiting Hyde Park Optometry for several years and have always received great service from a friendly, always smiling staff. These folks have learned to run a great business with the right attitude. The Optometrist is always friendly and professional and willing to spend the time to explain what he's doing and why. The eyeglass selections are great and presented in a well-lighted, comfortable room. In addition to Wi-Fi and TV there is usually candy, available for any kids, young or old. I have worn glasses for many years, but this was my first visit to Hyde Park Optometry. I was seen by Dr. Chad Lewick who was personable, pleasant and professional. It is obvious he loves his work and gives you the benefit of his knowledge and skills. The office staff including Nancy and Erika were equally pleasant and professional. The office is in an older building right in the Village of Hyde Park with plenty of parking close to the building. Dr. Lewick is one of our favorites!! My wife Krista and I have been going to him for years. His office doesn't take our insurance any longer, but we still insist on being part of his practice so we pay out of pocket. The only issue I have is a small one. I had a recent visit due to an issue with my left eye. when I made the appointment, I was told the fee was $45. when the appointment was completed , I was charged $80. Not sure what happened and I neglected to ask. It doesn't change my opinion of Dr. Lewick, or his staff. read more

Excellent staff! I have been going to this office for over 25 years and our kids also became patients as they grew and needed eye care.
