Because of you, Emily, Dutchess Optometry will not see anyone in my family and I will make it my business to share my experiences with everyone I know. The doctors are very good there but the some of the the front desk people (your Poughkeepsie office) need to go get jobs at a prison. Here's what happened, this time: I ordered colored contacts. Dr. Lappin told me the brand that has them in colors, she read me the list of colors, I chose my color. They ended ordering them in clear, they try to act like the mistake is my fault and expect me to eat the entire cost. In an uncaring manner, it was conveyed that they weren't going to make it right, I told Emily that I don't want the wrong order and to send me my scripts and she obliged. I had found my favorite eye Dr that is no longer practicing at the location I used to to to, I tried then new eye Dr and truthfully it was the excuse to try someone new. After a year of waiting excitedly for my new eye exam, me and my hubby finally got to try someone new and because of the place and the practice, it truly made a difference. From making the appointment to checking out, the girls at the front are just so caring, personable and knowledgeable and most importantly patient and happy to help you. Everything was pretty clean and I was impressed at all the different things included in my exam like a lid ultrasound, photo of my eyeball and so many things I hadn't ever done in a regular routine exam. His response: "Your prescription is expired, I'll have to ask the doctor." My response: "NY state law does not require an annual exam, I guess I'll have to ask Dutchess Optometry in Red Hook to help me." I called and asked the desk clerk for a copy of my 1-year old prescription: Her response: "Your prescription is expired." My response: "It is NY state law that I am entitled to a copy of my prescription, I use it for my own medical records to chart changes in my vision, you are required to give me a copy." Her response: "We will have to write expired on it" My response: "You can write whatever you like on it, as long as the prescription is legible, you know, the prescription THAT I PAID FOR!" The doctor and the woman who assisted me with finding glasses couldn't have been nicer. They provided me with a tray to keep glasses I liked and glasses I tried but didn't like ( so they could clean). They helped me choose glasses that were accepted by my plan and I only had to pay for the antireflective upgrade and received two pairs of glasses under my plan. So now I have a backup! I cannot believe I only paid for an upgrade, usually I'm out hundreds when I go to the mall to get my glasses and that is with my plan and AAA discount. I really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely go again. You must make an appt due to COVID and they are really booked, so plan ahead.

I went there a few years back and it was terrible. I tried it again last year, just on case the first time was a fluke, and the glasses were even worse; and the optometrist gave me a wrong prescription, then denied he did so. Eventually, after bringing in an old pair of eyeglasses, he took that prescription and just wrote it for the new glasses. DON'T DO IT!! you will be sorry.
