Apart from being OVERBOOKED and WASTING the day away, imagine your child losing her glasses. You called in for a replacement along with an appointment 2 weeks in advance. You showed up for the appointment, but the glasses was never ordered because they don't do replacements on-site. Now your child have to wait 2 extra weeks and school is in 2 days. This was FRUSTRATING and ANNOYING because my child seriously depends on it for everything she does!!!! Since bringing BOTH pair of glasses back it felt awkward Yet it did go well as they explained they're using a new type of plastic and takes time to get use to. The ones that were more expensive with photo gray they took back to see if they could make those better. The worst medical experience I have ever had (and I have had plenty). I am a 55 year old intelligent woman who takes pride in being kind. I have been coming here for many years but will not be going back. I actually walked out of my appointment yesterday mid way through the exam with the dr. From the start he was calling me MAM in a tone that was upsetting and felt degrading to me, laughed at me in disgust when I had trouble with the lens part of the exam, disagreed with what I was told by my ophthalmologist and just overall lacked compassion. I take this very serious because it's my EYES. He lacked empathy and kindness. Nobody even thought to call me to follow up about how the appointment ended with me walking out. I was told I had both cataracts and glaucoma even though my Medical eye doctor, an opthamologist, did a full eye exam a few days later because I was so concerned about the glaucoma and I have neither. He took photos of my optic nerves, and my eye pressure was a low 8 and my cataracts are very minor, and I was told there was no need to address them at this time. I was also given a referral to a eye specialist over an hour away to go immediately ( he was very adamant that I had some danger from the glaucoma), when my area is chock full of eye specialists. Even then I felt like he was getting a kick back, it didn't feel right. Also, my eye glasses RX are horrible and I can't see out of them either. I have never had trouble with Visionworks, but this was inexcusable. read more

This experience was incredible. I am glad that I didn't listen to the reviews. I was a bit worried I was going to have a bad experience but I didn't have one at all. My glasses ended up breaking and I needed an eye exam anyways so I showed up and waited for an open appointment. They checked me within an hour and had me out faster. They even provided me with the prescription and didn't force a sale on me, AT ALL. Some places are rude and pushy but not here. I had Bob E. helping me and it was amazing. Was unable to make contact via phone which was a bit of an inconvenience but decided to stop in the Poughkeepsie location to schedule an exam. Got an appt for 2 days later so decided check out the glasses. Literally tried on 50 frames and interacted with several employees to ask questions and received nothing less than professional, courteous service. Went back for my exam today and am beyond impressed with their digital process and overall customer service. At all times you are distant from the onsite staff who operates the equipment, then the technician who is remote facilitates the vision test and then you meet with the doctor who is also remote to go over test results showing you the pictures of your eyes. I ordered a pair of glasses at this location three weeks ago and was told they would be mailed in two weeks. I contacted the location last Friday and was told they were there and there was a $10 to ship them. I told them when I placed the order it was no charge. They waved the charge and said they would mail them. Just called and ups would deliver today. Nothing and ups already delivered today and no glasses. I wouldn't recommend this place. Omg I cannot say enough good things about my experience here!! I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old (now 26) and I have glaucoma so I know these offices well. I recently had to bring my husband for his first ever eye exam and for glasses. Since I first called and made the appointment to the time we ordered the glasses everyone was so extremely nice and helpful. They did not rush us out the door, treat us like we were stupid and someone gave us Tootsie Rolls while we were waiting! One employee in particular, Linda, was the epitome of great customer service. I am so fed up with this business! The level of incompetence astounds me!! This nightmare began in June 2018 and there's no end in sight. Today. I went in for an appt with the doctor because my contacts could not be dispensed by anyone other than her. Not only are the contacts that I ordered not there, for the third time, the doctor seemed to have no clue what my prescription was! She ordered a third trial lens and sent me home with lenses that had expired in 1/2018 and another lens that expired in 1/2017! This "doctor" has no clue. She was more concerned with deciphering confused notes in my file than fitting me with proper lenses! I will go back a final time to raise my voice and express my frustration with this organization! No more! Incompetent and lack of care make this Vision works a disgrace! it use to be a great place to get glasses, but the last 3-4 years have been sub par. The optometrist, kept trying to push computer glasses on me but could not explain how they actually work and why they would be beneficial for someone with my eyesight. There frames are more than double the prices they should be. I was also told the wrong information about my insurance coverage. They also made mistake in the past filling my wife's order, and were not willing to do anything to make amends for it. they are extremely slow in getting orders done. it just have this awful cooperate vibe, were they want make as much money from you as possible. read more

The staff is VERY nice and patient and competent; however, this is probably a stingy-assed management issue. Twice I had had my prescription filled here and been greatly disappointed. The first pair had to be sent back 3 times to adjust them, and were so awkward, I could never wear them. Visionworks refused to fix or replace them. The second time the finish began peeling off the frames after a few months. This is the only pair of glasses I have. They look ridiculous. I am not eligible for insurance coverage for a new pair for at least another year. Walk in and not 1 person makes eye contact with you or says hello. This is when we should have left. Waited till 4:30 for our 4 pm appointment that was booked online. They are expensive ass hell, they hard sell progressive lenses to make more money, you can't get them in the phone nor do they call you to tell you that they've made a billing error and you won't be getting your order you've waited 22 days for. Had to drive down to find out they made a mistake. I'm sorry if you're buying glasses for all of your family it's a small fortune. When I spend this kind of money I want to be able to get someone on the phone. Go else where research everything before you go so you don't fall victim to a place like this. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. My son saw Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen is rude, condescending and extremely unprofessional. I grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey and have been wearing contact lenses for over 20 years now. I am well aware of how most eye doctor offices handle contact lenses fittings. Dr. Cohen literally laughed in my face when I expected the contact lenses fitting for my son to be the same day as the initial appointment. Even my son said, "he (Dr. Cohen) made fun of you" when I was discussing with my husband what happened at the office the first visit. The extremely inappropriate and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable in front of just myself as an adult and paying customer. But can be classified even more so as disgusting and disreputable behavior because it was also in front of my son. The next visit for the "contact lenses class" the doctor was rude and condescending again when under his breath made some odd color remark about me immediately coming into the office with him and my son so he could check the contacts. I was waiting to go in so I could speak to the technician who assisted my son with learning how to care for his contact lenses. I will NEVER come back to this doctor EVER again. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Cohen. And I will be sharing my terrible experiences with anyone and everyone I come in contact with. read more

First visit I was charged for eye exam and told I needed new lenses for my glasses. After getting a second opinion I was told the lenses in my glasses were fine. I also had an exam for contacts lenses. A week later I was called and told my trial contacts were there and ready for pick up, when I arrived I was left waiting for 45 minutes and then told they could not find them. I called the next day and was told the lenses could be picked up, when I got there I was told only one lens was there and the other was on back order and would take 2 weeks. Long story short, recieved new lenses and they were GARBAGE !! This place SUCKS, Dr. Cohen is rude and is clearly not happy with his place in life. Lost me as a customer today after 14 years when I discovered that I was sold an expensive pair of lenses largely out of pocket for $435 when my insurance would have covered a mid-range pair for $145. Empire Visionworks never bothered to inform me of what options I might have had under my insurance. I've had my eye exam here and they filled my glasses prescription. I haven't been completely satisfied but I will wait for my next exam. Someplace else. In the meantime I will say they are good about fixing any problems I have with my glasses. That is the reason for my visit today. I waited for both receptionists to finish phone calls and a gentleman came in while I was waiting. Eventually I was told to sit at a desk and someone will help me. The gentleman took a seat as well. The woman went to help him and I spoke up that I was here first. Someone else in the store said he was first and here I sit. Very frustrating and wrong. I had the worst experience at Visionworks!!! I went there to get fitted for contacts! Dr. Cohen was the rudest man I have ever met!! He hardly even talked to me!! I told him that I would like to get fitted for contacts that I can wear all the time(bifocals)! All of a sudden he gets this attitude! There not going to work!! My regular eye Dr. ( that's a five star dr.) told me that there's all kinds of contacts now!! And the only reason I went to Visionworks is because there contact fitting were a little cheaper!! So, he ordered them!! They called saying that the contacts came in! I went for the class to learn how to put them in & out! Had no problems with that part, but I told the dr. that everything is blurry!!! He said, "I TOLD YOU THAT HOW BIFOCALS ARE"!!! And he walks out!!! I go home couldn't sleep at all!! So, the next morning I call to tell them that I wasn't satisfied, but I was nervous because of the dr. They said another dr. Was on! I was soooo relieved!!!! I did like dr. P. He really tried to work with trying to get the right prescription, but after 3 tries I decided to eat the money & time & go to my regular eye Dr. I went and the first fitting was an success!!!! I've been coming here since I was a kid on my parents insurance. I used to see Dr. Bean every year, but the last couple of years I saw Dr. Cohen. He is the worst and most unprofessional doctor I've ever seen in my life. Stay away! I wish I could give 0 stars! I got a pair of reading glasses there back in September and the lenses keep popping out of the frame and the screws kept coming loose. I went in there tonight to have them looked at and was told he had to hurry because they close at 8:00 and people keep coming in. (This was about 7:10) he said all the screws are tight then started to "Adjust" them by bending the frame. I told him the screw is missing and he could see where and told me to come back tomorrow for someone else to look at it. I told him we are having a blizzard tomorrow and I'm not coming out in it. He said come back another day. I get home an go to put my glasses on so I can read something and now the frame is broken! It wasn't when I brought them in!
