Friendly, patient front-woman, who didn't care when I tried on basically every pair of glasses ever. Tiny shop but relatively broad and well-chosen selection of frames - some very-high-end, some more 'normal'. Also I liked the doc's own personal glasses and he let me try them on. :D Problems: Sort of weird hours (since it is basically a one-person operation, can't expect them to work every minute I guess!) -- they don't have a website, though, and they don't always answer the phone or seem to have a message, so it is hard to tell when they will be there, etc. Personally I think that they should develop a web presence of some kind - doesn't have to be big or anything, but more info would be nice.

My usual eye place was closed and so when I looked for an open eye care center Vision Excel was open. I called and had an appointment within 2 hours of when I called. I had never been there and had not bought my glasses there but they assured me they could help. I went to the store, called from the parking lot (Covid-19 protocol!) and a tech came out and got my glasses. in under 5 minutes they had replaced both nose pieces, fixed the bend in the stem and checked the other screws. They also didn't charge me anything! I was so impressed with their customer care even though I had never been there before. They also take my insurance so I will be taking my family there as regular patients now! I am so thankful for their kindness and help! WONDERFUL PLACE and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! Yes, buying glasses in the optical shop is more expensive than going to a discount store, but they know their stuff! The quality of product is great. I actually have had a problem with the new pair of glasses I bought. I took them back right away and they suggested certain changes. The lenses were still not working with my eyes and now I'm switching frames and lenses to try another to make sure it works for me. I even was sent in to see the Dr to make sure my prescription was correct again. They are not going to let me down, and I truly appreciate that. A Kingston mainstay for over half a century, I deeply regret not having visited before. Dr. Miller's experience and knowledge helped to alleviate any fears that might have evolved in my brain since my nightmare at Lenscrafters (see other review) last spring. AGAIN, the glasses were not what I needed. The EXTREMELY attentive and caring personnel at Jules Vision suggested I have the staff optician at their store check my eyes a 3rd time. He found errors in the ophthalmologist's prescription. The final result is that my 3rd pair of glasses are perfect...I mean perfect. I WAS NOT charged a penny for their time. After trying them out for a couple of weeks, I realized that the new glasses really didn't make much of a difference for me. I hesitated to make the return. But everything went smoothly. Hedda, who assisted me, was very knowledgeable and tried several things with me. When they didn't work, she accepted the return without hesitation. Made me feel validated and not at all like a complainer. Then, she spend quite some time adjusting the frames on my new sunglasses until they were perfect. All with patience and good humor. Having had eye problems for decades now, my entire life, I've had more than enough experiences at optometrists and opticians, and I have to say this Lenscrafters in Kingston is the best. Both doctors, McKinney and Brown have seen me over the past 4 years at various times with various issues and they're both professional, kind, CLEAN (this isn't as usual as one would suppose!), very thorough. If you have questions, they really take the time to thoroughly explain your problems and concerns, in great detail if that's what you wish. I've also been able to make an appointment on very short notice for an emergency and was still treated kindly and with concern, never rushed or talked down to. Then there's the front of house service - these people are terrific. I don't know how Kingston managed to dig up and employ so many great people in one place, but they're all here. Honest opinions, alternative offerings, they take time to make recommendations on how to make the most of my insurance, they're never pushy. I would particularly mention Lance and Bridget, both have a sense of humour while being so very helpful. Lance has repaired my nosepieces on the fly and Bridget took the time to seek out a better case for my sunglasses. Both offer helpful and honest opinions of style and suitability. We no longer neither live nor work anywhere NEAR this Lenscrafters, in fact there's one much closer to us now and driving up there is frankly quite a distance, but I love the attention and service, so it's worth my while and gas money. It's a competitive business and they deserve two thumbs up.

I voiced my displeasure and asked for my bill. I also said that everybody I knew would know about this fiasco of an operation. The clerk hemmed and hawed, then went to speak with somebody. The clerk came back and said that there would be no charge but that they would keep the lens prescription. After letting her know that I wouldn't trust that prescription for two seconds, she again said there'd be no charge. But I reminded her that I had wasted my time and that I was still in shock over an 8 minute "exam". I can't think of anything that could have been worse than this place.
