If you're into thick, rich and deliciously greasy pizza, then Genovese's is the spot for you! My cousin and I came here after tirelessly looking for places to eat. When she suggested Italian, I knew I needed to bring her here. I had heard such great things about this place from my co-workers, but never really had the opportunity to try it until now- and I am not disappointed! My cousin ordered the Lasagna, and she was over the moon with her decision. She said it was one of the most authentic tasting dishes she's had. I had the traditional Pepperoni Pizza. It went down the hatch pretty well if I do say so! The mozzarella was so gooey, melty and ahhhhh! I just couldn't have enough! The downside? The place is a little small, as is the parking lot. Love this Mom and pop shop that I've been trying to go to for months!! Took my 2 year old daughter and 8 year old niece. My niece loves pizza and is super picky! With the first bite she loved it. We had leftovers and my husband loved it too. Love that they have beer and wine. The two waitresses that were working were super nice and attentive. For it getting so busy in and out they handled it very well and they were friendly. I could tell that they have plenty of regulars. My husband has been wanting to try it so I will be back with him and look forward to some mimosas! They have 3 different flavors. I love the salsa, and jazz that they play! Sinatra steals my heart. They always have only one person doing everything - even when the place is packed. One time I ordered a pizza over the phone and they told me to pick it up in 45 minuets. I thought that was kind of long, but figured they were making it fresh and it would be worth the wait. When I got there I expected the order to be ready, but it was not - and I ended up having to sit inside the restaurant and wait 20 more minutes for the order to come out. Now with the new owners, we are seeing marked improvement not only with the decor and ambiance but with the quality and freshness of food. We live up the block from Genovese's Pizza. It's nice to see the pride in the restaurant these people are taking and have a nice gem right in our own neighborhood. It's casual and relaxing. The food is good, especially their spaghetti in a marinara sauce that tastes homemade and a flavorful meatball. The presentation of the dishes has also markedly improved. Parking is accessible as they have their own lot and plenty of street parking nearby. Overall, we're digging the updates in the decor and added seating. They have extended their hours to include brunch on the weekends. We were impressed with the breakfast pizza and chilaquiles. Definitely going back for more brunch with the girlfriends to sip on champagne and indulge our foodie senses. The menu has all the standard Italian American fare - from meatball sandwiches, pizzas with a nice biscuit dough, to fettucini alfredo. Good wine and beer selection (although still waiting for my Peroni). And, despite what I read from other recent reviews, the menu has NOT changed except for the new brunch items. The restaurant was never opened for brunch in the past. I love this idea considering it's down the block and we could walk home after a few glasses of bubbly. If you're looking or a casual spot locally to enjoy some pizza and pasta, then head over to Genovese's. They are mostly busy during the lunch hours during the week with local business folks. Ok, this is my go to lunch spot. They have super reasonably priced lunch specials that come with a drink (including beer or wine). I always get the spaghetti with sausage lunch, comes with a side salad (gotta get their Italian dressing, so good) and a basket of garlic bread. Their garlic bread game is on point, crunchy edges with soft centers and loads of garlic butter so every bite is filled with garlicy goodness. The service is slow but I like it as it's a relaxing place for me to go to and they really take care of you when you ask for anything. For dinner, if you have a D&D group that get hungry, this place does an awesome family combo set that comes out to about $15 a person and it's filling. Side salad, garlic bread, spaghetti and meatballs, a med pizza and drinks. Know that this is a great neighborhood joint and its got great prices good food. I've been coming to Genovese's for their jumbo pizza for years! Today, I ordered a jumbo pizza and realized their prices had gone up, but was okay with it because I knew it would be worth it. When I picked up my order I was saddened to see that the size of the pizza went down considerably, but again, I knew the pizza would taste great. I became disappointed when I opened the pizza box and saw how oily the pizza was, pools of oil on the pepperonis and cheese. I then became angry when I bit into the pizza (after cleaning off most of the oil from my slice) and realized I should have just gone to Domino's. The taste is mediocre. There is no longer a hint of sweetness in the crust which was the only reason why I always went to Genovese's, their recipe was unlike any other. I have been going to Genoveses for over 10 years. I have always had their dinner items. Today I took my family to have brunch. I had the chilaquiles and they were the BEST chilaquiles I have ever had...and I know chilaquiles chilaquiles are one of my favorite breakfast meals and I have had them at quite a few places & cities. These are served in a bowl with a green salsa on the bottom and t red salsa covered the chips with chorizo, black beans, melted cheese, pico de gallo and 2 over medium eggs phenomenal to the last bite My husband had the huevos rancheros they were not served in your typical style the eggs were atop a fried flour tortilla...in my husbands words "could've been spicier." A personal pizza and a large salad was more than enough for two people....to be more clear two women. We both had two slices of pizza each and a plate of salad. Our bill was about $18. The pizza we ordered was Genovese's Specialty which came with about 5-6 different toppings. What I didn't like about their pizzas is the crust. It was hard and I could really taste the flour from the dough. It was difficult to hold because the oil and marinara sauce drenched the bottom part of the pizza. I was forced to eat my pizza with a fork and knife. Which is okay if it were a thin crust pizza, but it wasn't. The only plus size is the cheesiness. I know there's a lot of negative in this review, but this little establishment deserves 3 stars. It really is A-OK in my book. Not to mention, they have a really good lunch menu available monday-friday. I wish I knew that ahead of time!!! Oh man. What a downward spiral with this restaurant. Last time I came was before the renovations but tonight had me sworn off our long time favorite classic restaurant. The outside is beautiful but the service was awful. Waiter left food with no utensils or napkins. Never asked to refill our waters. Service was 30 minutes to put out our salad and calamari. For the main dinner I ordered a Genovese's Special with no onions. The pizza (45 minutes later) came out COVERED in onions. I advised the waiter, he apologized and came back about 5 minutes later with a seemingly onion free pizza. I went to take a bite into a slice when i noticed there were still plenty of raw onions. I went to ask for the manager who offered to remake it. That was over 20 minutes ago. So here we sit waiting for our pizza, over an hour later. Edit: advised server we would not be paying for the meal but didn't want to seem as if we dined and dashed. He said that's fine. End interaction. Glad i didn't have to pay. For the amount of food I received, the cost was about expected, but the quality was so boring. The spaghetti dish had two giant meat balls that have the texture and taste of frozen store-brands. I also received like one small laddle of sauce, so my noodles were mostly naked. The pizza wasn't greasy, which is one point in their favor, but the pizza is almost white like it didn't brown. The crust is so bland. If they were to even rub some garlic on it, it would be 100x better. The lasagna looks ok, but again, something missing and nothing stellar. This place is ok, but I would save my money and eat Digiorno's. read more
