I was transported to my high school days with the menu and appreciate the Mexican Food offerings, including the taquitos. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which is always one of those make or break menu items some restaurants can mess up by not including the right ingredients. The dining area is rather small, but was able to accomodate diners at the time I visited. Parking is limited, but flows pretty good, once diners make some spots upon leaving. Background On Visit: Drove past this place many times, but never got a chance to step in and try their food until Wednesday of this week before a yelp event that was nearby. Credit Cards: They're accepted, but it would be nice if they were open and honest about their 5% surcharge. With that said, bring cash so you don't have to be surprised later to see a hidden fee after the transaction is done. I absolutely get why mom and pop shop's do that just to survive and to recoup some money to pay credit card companies for using that service. Restroom: No restrooms Location/Parking: Major cross streets are Valley & Cabrillo Ave.. Next to Aloha food factory. They do have a private parking lot and you can park along Valley or Cabrillo Ave.. Ambiance/Decor: It's a hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant with some furnishings to sit and eat on. Kinda outdated, but you do you, Ernie! Service: Service was okay. Food came out at a decent time. Food Of Choice: I got myself a hamburger with no seasoning on the patty. Hamburger was quite tasty. It can't be a little messy to eat because of the sauce. So ask for less sauce. Was told that this place has good food for a good price. So decided to give their tacos a try, they had a taco plate which included 4 tacos and it comes with a side of rice and beans. It's a small mom and pop shop, very cute, downside is that they do not have a bathroom, but you can dine in and eat. Nothing stood out in regards of their service. But really enjoy seeing this place being enjoyed by the locals. I'm regards of the plate I got, chicken lacked flavor, just seemed overly seasoned with black pepper. The sausage egg sandwich, the inside of the English muffin was a bit burnt. Nice small burger joint up the street from Cal St-LA. I ordered the bacon burger dry which was a huge mistake because it was really dry. My kids ordered the bacon burger and double cheeseburger as well with the sauce and it was a bit too much sauce that caused the bun to be really soggy. The fries weren't too bad, but overall the food was just average. Service was great and they clean the tables immediately once your done eating. Fries were good, cashier was nice and brought the food over, but damn I don't know how a burger can be dry and sopping wet at the same time the patty was thin and dry as heck. No moisture at all in their meat and bacon. Their thousand island was WATERY to the max!!! My whole bun on the bottom was extremely wet and just mushy. It was not enjoyable. It didn't seem like the bun was toasted either. I always pass by Ernie's and been tempted to try their food out. Today I finally stopped by for breakfast which it opened at 7am. I ordered the chilaquiles with 2 over medium eggs and it comes with rice and beans. It wasn't the best ive ever had but tasted ok. Im more of the spicy type of food guy. Their menu options are great I am definitely coming back to try other stuff. Hole in the wall type of place. What an amazing local burger and breakfast joint! The food is both affordable and tasty. Servings are generously sized so you can leave full without breaking the bank. You can't go wrong with any of the burgers they have. If you don't feel like eating a burger, get the chili cheese fries--they're delicious! There's several tables inside and two outside. Service is great. I would recommend parking on the street right in front of the restaurant if you plan on dining in and you drive a sedan.
