The guy I dealt with at Genesis Tree Services was Gregory Schuring. His crew broke a roof tile while they were pruning one of our oak trees. He promised to get his roof crew to come back and repair but he never did. No integrity. We made the mistake of paying him and his crew a fat tip before the roof was fixed, trusting that he would come back. Lesson learnt. Never again. I paid them to remove a stump and large roots. They didn't do either. They just covered up the stump with the shavings of the stump. Then they left a mess all over the sidewalk. I contacted them and scheduled a quote. The lady requested a picture of the job and scheduled an appointment for a Monday at 2:00 pm. I wasn't contacted until 2:30pm and the guy said there was no need to show up anymore as he had a picture. He then set a schedule for Thursday 8am. The crew did not arrive until 8:30am. As they were working, they damaged the fiber line that ran from the utility pole to my house, disabling the WiFi. Once they were done around 9:45 am. They advised me another worker would arrive in 20 mins to remove the tree stumps. It is now 12:00 pm and he has not shown. I contacted their dispatcher regarding the time and she advised he was running late and could not give me an ETA. When they sent over the invoice via email, I had to pay through Venmo because their website had a glitch. When asked for my credit card information. It asked for my address and zip code (no city information). After submitting the payment it was rejected because I did not submit the city. Once refreshed it would request the "City" but not my home address. I tried to submit it multiple times before, giving up and submitting my payment through another option (Venmo). They also only cleaned the area with grass and left saw dust around the immediate area. read more

Genesis has done tree work for me three or four times in the past, but after today's job, I won't be calling on them again. While the price was extremely reasonable and the workers were friendly, they were VERY careless about not damaging my property. I watched with horror as large branches were dropped on nearby shrubbery, etc. even though there was a clear space directly below the tree. In the end, a metal garden sculpture (25 feet from tree) was broken beyond repair, fencing was broken, and three shrubs were decapitated. After the crew left, I could see a ton of debris left behind; all in plain sight. Lazy, lazy, lazy. So disappointed in Genesis. read more

I hate to do this, but I can no longer recommend this company AT ALL! I gave them an outstanding review after the 1st job and I've recommended them to others. NO LONGER!!! Over a year ago (after Snowmageddon), I had them do a second job. Trying to save time, their guys fell(?) a tree in my front yard, right between 2 other trees, and onto my neighbor's property. In the process, they completely stripped off of the bark (about 15' of it), on a perfectly good tree, and of course, it's the part that faces my neighbor's front window. How can you even begin to fix a huge error like this - the tree was irreparable...but crap happens, so I moved on (and I have a very nice neighbor). However, on this second visit, they also missed a small, dead oak, that was clearly marked. I have called and texted and called and texted Edward, the owner, many many times over the past 1+ years. Each time, he assures me that I will be on the schedule the next time they're in Nev City and they have NEVER come back. Now, I get to pay someone else to take out the tree. I just texted him to let him know that I'm done asking. His response was to call and LMK that he will "give me a great deal on my next tree job with him". Are you kidding me??!!! We received a mailer from this company informing us they would be in our area for work and were available for free estimates. I reached out and left messages to set up an appointment for service, but they never returned my call. I called again and was able to reach someone and set up an appointment for 1 o'clock in the afternoon the following day. At 12:58 I received a phone call telling me that they don't perform the services I was requesting, but I can send a photo and they will tell me if they have someone who can do the work. They were not coming out to look at the job and do the estimate because it's a service they don't normally provide. They may possibly do good work, but I wouldn't know because I couldn't get past the unprofessional estimate and scheduling process. read more

I had Genesis trim 7 very large oak trees on a property I recently purchased that had not been trimmed for a number of years. Many of the trees had extensive mistletoe damage and were generally a mess. Because of the massive storm that blew threw in the end of January my beautiful shade tree split. I got other bids for the job and I chose Genesis. I do not have one complaint and I'm hard to please. They were great. They arrived within the window, they were kind and professional. It took them approx 3 hours to take down a 40 ft tree, grind the stump and clean up after themselves. Because the branches of the tree were on my neighbors patio cover they removed 1 section of the fence and placed it back when they were done. Genesis came out to our house yesterday (11-25-24) in a light rain. The crew got straight to work. They did a great job trimming our giant oak tree. They cleaned up all of the branches leaving our yard looking better than when they arrived. And they charged us less than half being charged by a very reputable competitor. This was the second time we used Genesis. The first time was fair, I wouldn't say excellent, they left a mess for us to finish cleaning up where they took a stump out, but taking out the downed tree and trimming on some others was fine. But we were glad to see the stump gone. The second time was almost $5,000 worth of work. The area that was crucial to clean up was around several Ponderosa pines. I stressed multiple times I wanted ALL toyan to be cleaned out around them so there was no ladder if God forbid a fire went through there wouldn't be a way for fire to climb up the trees, I give them a poor grade for that. First the team leader questioned my integrity when I told him I specifically told the person who did the bid what I wanted done, and the team leader called and spoke to someone and obviously confirmed what I said. Then they left the branches on the ground they did clean out, but still left toyan standing very close to the trees, something I didn't want. So we won't be using them again. We'll go with someone where communication is not a problem. We also ate $400 to clean up another pine, but that's on me for forgetting to let them know it was on the work order also. It's possible there's different teams who do the work. I also won't be recommending them to anyone. read more

Useless compmay. My neighbor hired them to remove some trees. They felled one tree that scraped the bark off of one of our standing trees. Now the tree is distressed and may need to be removed. They supposedly gave my neighbor a " reduced rate" for their because of their screw up. No apology. We had another tree company out on the same day doing tree work for us and Genesis actually asked my company for their help to clean up the whole mess. I believe that they have now changed their name to Shalom tree service, and they are now some Christian related company that vows to God. Well, they sure didn't do god any favors by ruining one of his trees. read more

These guys were great from estimate to invoice. Really friendly and attentive estimator and crews. Less than a week from estimate to done! They gave me plenty of notice to let my neighbors know they would be here. They showed up at the specified time (rare!) and did a great job. They cleaned up really well and they were just an absolute pleasure to work with. We have a small alley which is very tight in the back, and they also had a kind of dangerous blind corner to work on at the front of the house and they were champs all the way. The price was fair, and I would highly recommend them for your project! I will use them in the future on my property. Trying to get them to come and do tree and bush maintenance for our whole street. Genesis picked up and chipped most of the logs and branches we hired them to take care of. There were a couple of small piles that they missed; that isn't the problem. Their original estimate was $2500. In the middle of the job, they complained that there was more work than they had originally seen and bid on, and charged $4000. Another complaint: One of their workers defecated on our property, and did not adequately bury his toilet paper. Super gross, super disrespectful, super unhygienic. Need I say more? Genesis: I would like to be able to support you, but your level of professionalism is below my expectations. read more

On March 5, just before the COVID-19 lockdown Genesis Tree Service came out provided an estimate for the 50 foot Queen Palm that needed to be cut down and returned the very next day to do the work. They did an excellent job cutting it extremely low as requested. The crew was very nice quick and friendly. Cleaned up with the blower removed all parts and pieces. The workers arrived right on time and did an outstanding job for a reasonable price. They removed a Redwood tree (about 70 feet high) in about 3 hours. They started by protecting some potted plants which were originally under or near the tree. They finished the job by grinding the stump, did an excellent cleanup and put all the potted plants back in the correct places.
