Coffee and Popover with honey butter. YUM!
    Risa Y.

I was perusing at the General Store and was drawn in with the wonderful smell from the cafe. It wasn't just lunch time yet, so I stopped in for a cup of coffee and tried their famous popover with honey butter....which I really enjoyed! Thank you.

The menu was interesting, I had the Quinoa Breakfast Bowl which was very good (I love quinoa). It got very busy, there's no dropping in, get a reservation. They do have some bar/counter seating but friends advised scoring that was iffy. This was the old Dairy Queen way back in the day. It has had several iterations and Heather's is the latest and arguably the most successful. I would not have thought to go here had friends not made the reservation (it is near their home) and I guess I would not go out of the way to go here again. Don't let that stop you. Very small parking lot, 2 people wanted my space and had me boxed in.

Recently my adult son, adult daughter and I gathered for a weekday breakfast at this trendy place. In my experience the descriptor "trendy" often has a somewhat negative connotation. It can be associated with long lines, high prices, harried staff and mediocre food. IMHO none of those things are associated with The Breakfast Club. We started by sharing an order of Monkey Bread [ (roughly a cinnamon/caramel dough baked in a bundt pan (or at least something round and hollow)], topped with icing and with sections that one may tear off). A bit messy but overall a great start to the day. My son and daughter both ordered more conventional breakfasts and both were very pleased with their choices. I went with the Senor Borracho which I found flavorful and delicious. I love a good Huevos Rancheros and the Borracho is an interesting twist on the classic dish. Service was excellent. The coffee was decent and mugs were kept full. Noise didn't seem problematic. Parking could be an issue at times.

We expected it to be packed, but we were seated right away. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded or noisy, which made it easy to relax, enjoy our meal, and actually have a conversation. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and professional. I wish I had gotten her name before we left because she provided great service throughout our visit. I started with the iced lavender oat milk latte, and it was delicious. We also shared the famous monkey bread, and it definitely lives up to all the hype I've seen online! We ordered it with both the cream cheese and caramel, and it was amazing. The monkey bread was incredibly soft, fresh, and the portion was huge. I've had monkey bread at other local coffee shops before, but the texture here is on a completely different level. For breakfast, I ordered the French toast, and it was made well. I appreciated that it wasn't overloaded with whipped cream. My husband liked the crispy bacon and his chocolate chip pancakes he said they were rich and fluffy. We'll definitely be back. Everything from the food and atmosphere to the service exceeded our expectations. This place is simply too good not to return!

So I found Benedict's online and thought it looked like a good choice. The restaurant itself is really bright open and airy. Lots of natural light and high wood beams. The restaurant employs an online wait list, which I love. So you join the wait list online, it tells you how long your wait is and the you can plan your arrival to minimize your wait. I was surprised that on a Saturday, we walked right in and were seated... it wasn't all that crowded (that said, there was a big No Kings rally that day so people might have been busy). At any rate, we were greeted and seated immediately at a nice table. I enjoyed the many options on the menu and also loved that you could order a single specialty pancake if you wanted one. I ordered the classic benedict. My husband got the tot hash. We ordered a strawberry nutella pancake to share. The pancake was good, though honestly the nutella strawberry topping was a bit meh. My husband said his tot hash was not what he expected (they seem to make their own tots and then deep fry them) but he did like it. My benedict was decent, but there was way too much ham and not enough hollandaise. I hate when people are stingy with the hollandaise. Coffee was good and strong. My peach mimosa was fine but honestly pretty small -- I'd be surprised if it was 8 oz. Service was OK. Nothing super major to complain about, but my mimosa wasn't delivered until I was almost through my first cup of coffee. The waitress clearly just forgot about it. She basically said so and apologized. I noted that many tables had lovely little bottles of water for when you wanted to refill your glass, but we did not receive one. It also bothered me a bit that there was a lot of "stuff" on the floor. Trash, bits of food, etc. I know that things get really busy at brunch spots on the weekends. But someone really needed to go around with a broom or a vacuum. It's just not what I expect from a dining establishment where I'm going to drop $80 on breakfast for two.

Ordered the Boujee Bene which tried to be an elevated dish of tequila flambéed shrimp ceviche on arepas topped with poached eggs and hollandaise. The arepas were actually bland masa corn cakes, so they were thick and dense with no crispness or browning. I asked the server about this and she confirmed they no longer made arepas but hadn't updated the menu. This could have been forgiven if the rest of the dish had any flavor beyond raw onion and garlic. The hollandaise had no flavor either, and they had no salsas or anything else to add other than tobacco and Chahula. The shrimp was minimal and also bland. There was a corn "salsa" (also bland) so that added some texture, but the dish overall was quite disappointing. My friend ordered the farmers table breakfast and said pancakes and Perkins were better. Maybe other meals are better, but brunch was disappointing.

The hash browns were a little over cooked for me but overall it was a pretty solid breakfast and we will definitely visit again soon. We utilized a free parking garage during our visit and walked less than a block to dine in.

The waitlist doesn't tell you where you are in line so it could be anything between 15 min to 90 min. We were told several different wait times by different staff members (20 min, 45 min, 90 min) which makes it difficult to know if we should abandon our place on the waitlist or not. It's a really big space so there is plenty of seating which is great. Service is good - staff is nice! I think there a some variation between OPH locations and the menus. This spot didn't have any sort of seasonal or special menus like some of the other OPHs in the Metro. This location is closer to me than some others, but I'd prefer to drive a bit farther to a faster OPH.

Being from the south, I do love my biscuits and gravy, and this did not disappoint. The biscuits are fluffy and tender, and taste like my grandmother's. The sausage gravy was rich and delicious with plenty of sausage pieces and just the right amount of thick, savory gravy. I ordered the side of bacon crispy, and it was, and the gravy comes in a container on the side. However, the hashbrowns topped with eggs, and the biscuit were together in one container while my bacon was in a smaller one. I didn't want sausage gravy on my hashbrowns or my eggs, but it was easy enough to swap the bacon and the biscuit and put the biscuit in the little container where I could cover it with gravy and devour it. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was nice and crispy (you check a box if you want it crispy) and the hashbrowns were very tasty. All in all, I highly recommend this spot near Eden Prairie, and I look forward to dining there in the future.
