Raspberry Scruffin
Brandon J.

Great Harvest is a local classic. I have many memories of going here with my mom when I was little, always awed by the fresh smells, impressive variety, and, if I had been good that day, delicious flavors:) I chose to pick up a few pastries here for my birthday. Due to Covid-19, I had to order ahead of time and pick up my pastries inside. The website was very easy to use, clearly providing a list of the available products. The interior appeared to adhere to all Coronavirus health requirements, and the woman that helped me was friendly and happy to help. Now down to the treats, the important stuff. Raspberry Scruffin: If you are all about fruit-related desserts, this thing is for you. Raspberry flavors were very present in every bite, and the dough was remarkably soft and fresh. Frosted Cinnamon Roll: This was excellent, the frosting complementing the roll marvelously. I warmed this one up and it was so much better, but it started off pretty good too. Chocolate Chip Shortbread: I am not a huge shortbread fan, but this treat was darn good. Crumble-in-your-mouth, just as shortbread should be, and the chocolate chips contributed significant sweetness and texture. Give this one a shot if ya like shortbread. Overall, Great Harvest continues to impress; make sure to stop by the next time you're in Tonka and are feeling something sweet!

Service was slow, lethargic and poor. Could they have less enthusiasm? That aside, their bread is awesome. Awesome flavors, lots of depth, super fresh.

Why didn't I know that this place made phenomenal sandwiches before today? Unhappy with my last Lakewinds sandwich I opted for GHBC today. Man did I make the best choice. Game changer. I ordered this month's special; chipotle turkey on honey wheat. While I waited I was offered and accepted samples of other breads and treats. I sampled a big cookie bite and cheddar jalapeño corn bread. I almost didn't need my lunch after that. I can't tell you the last time I had a full on slice of bread and not a cheese cube size sample of anything. Go here. Get the punch card and be rewarded after 12 visits. Be happy.

My grandma would kill me for paying $5 for a loaf of bread. Was hoping for 'excellent', received just 'good' instead.

Stopped by Honey & Rye and grabbed the monkey bread and a chocolate pinwheel. The monkey bread was…read morefantastic, super soft and flavorful. The chocolate pinwheel was just okay and a little on the dry side. Parking is a bit limited and there's no seating, so this is more of a grab-and-go spot. It does get busy, but the line moves quickly which is nice. Staff was friendly and efficient. They have a large assortment of coffee and other hot drinks, but the real highlight here is definitely the baked goods. They also offer breakfast items that can be heated, which is great if you want something more filling. The shop itself is really cute with a cozy, charming feel. They also have a small selection of items for sale, which adds a nice touch while you're waiting in line.

Ok brewed and coffee cake, which looks like a bread. Have to try more items when in SLP. Coffee had an amazingly nutty, naughty roasted toasted taste with the ever important after taste. How did I miss this place across from Trader Joe's in the past? Was on the other side of town and checked trusty Yelp for "Coffee Shops Near Me". Gotta go. Getting out of the parking lot was a task. One side is no left turn onto Excelsior Blvd. Try to turn back the other way with cars entering on two sides..yes two sides to enter, only one to exit. Made it, now sipping and driving 8 miles to my next location. Coffee feels good on a bone numbing day.

First, I love the pastries you can buy to-go. This review though is for their cooking class. Be…read moreaware that you will be seated with a group of 6 and you'll have to work with them to decide who does what tasks, since not everyone will get to try making everything. I attended solo but luckily really liked the group I was assigned to. We wanted everyone to work on things they enjoy and allowed everyone to try some parts of the important tasks (making pasta and pastry dough). Your enjoyment might really depend on what your group is like. You can buy wine and beer to drink while you take the class, and those were reasonably priced I thought! $9 for a glass of wine and I think $8 for beer. The class was chaotic since we were making three courses and things needed to be done at different times, but the chaos felt like how it really is in a kitchen making multi course menus, so that didn't bother me! The assistants were great and helped us stay on track and helped if we were struggling with anything. I can't say I learned much from the class (which is why I only gave 4 stars), but I sure had a lot of fun!

The chocolate almond croissant is next level--flaky, buttery, and packed with rich, decadent flavor. And don't even get me started on the breakfast sandwiches--they're gourmet-level masterpieces. Every bite is perfection. The vibe & service here is warm and inviting, with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries filling the air. Whether you're grabbing a coffee, treating yourself to a pastry, or diving into one of their soups or salads, this place nails it every time. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. Cooks Bellecour is an absolute gem!
