    The Lefty

Marty's was the first spot I went to after moving to minneap and it completely lives up to the hype. The line moved quickly, the service is friendly, and the interior decor is comfy like an old diner. The bread is the standout for the sandwiches. It is a fluffy, salty focaccia that holds it all together. The sausage egg and cheese is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had and the Lefty was a fantastic chicken cutlet with broccoli rabe (I am from Philly and I approve). There are also always limited sweets in the fridge and the strawberry basil cake was perfect (not too sweet!). Marty's has become a new staple for me and everyone should make the trip at least once.

High quality ingredients and food. I got the Lefty which is a fried chicken cutlet (I did spicy) with garlic marinated broccoli rabe, provolone, and aioli. I got a pasta salad as well which was pretty good as well. There is seating inside and outside depending on what you want to do. There is street parking as well that is free, so you don't need to rush and get your food.

Marty's Deli is absolutely worth the hype! The breakfast sandwich was incredible and definitely lived up to the buzz. Since it's become such a popular spot in Minneapolis, don't be surprised to see lines out the door on weekends -- getting there early is definitely the move. I've only tried breakfast so far, but after this experience I'm already excited to go back and check out their lunch menu!

Pool & Yacht sandwich is the BEST

I'll tell ya what I want, what I really really want.... The answer is always @martysdeli Nordeast Mpls on Lowry This one is in my all time favorites ever. Marty's is a jackpot spot. Pro tip check their instagram stories to see if they're sold out. They make their focaccia bread daily and when it's gone it's gone for the day. It's normal to spot a long line, don't let that make you hesitate. It goes fast and is so worth it. My absolute love em items: Pool & Yacht Club (this sandwich could be my love language. The first time I went here I had lunch and also got another sandwich to have later for dinner because it was that good.) Chocolate Olive Oil Cookie (this is one of the best cookies I've ever had hands down. Crispy but soft, smooth chocolate, salty bits, so. frickin. good. I am not usually a chocolate cookie gal but dang this one is beyond good) highly recommend getting your own because you're not gonna want to share. Maybe get one for later too even. You won't regret it. Additional shout out for their breakfast sandwich and hash browns. Yummm They also have a cute little patio out back to enjoy. Breakfast sandwich + hash brown

A little disappointed... The breakfast sandwich is $10 which is not a bad price especially because it was pretty big. I added a hashbrown to it for $2.50 which was good. The focaccia was good but everything else was not. It only has aioli which was bland and egg & cheese which didn't add much flavor. I wouldn't get it again. Expect at least a 20 min line if you come weekend mornings.

First time trying this sandwich place that I've been wanting to check out and wow it did not disappoint! I went to get The Pool & Yatch and it was the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever had. The greens were incredible fresh and crisp and I loved the fennel and pickles in there as it added a great acidity. I thought the whole sandwich was perfectly composed and ate shockingly light. The portions are big but I'm not complaining. It can easily feed 2 people. I loved that there is a kids menu so I'll be back with my kids to enjoy a nice lunch. This will be street parking when you come and there is a small space for seating but the place is very inviting and cozy. I look forward to coming back and trying more things from the menu. It's incredible to come across a restaurant in the twin cities that is exciting and creative and has a great flow among workers.

Their breakfast sandwiches are worth the hype but I DREAM about the Dave's Fave sandwich coming back in the summertime. Also love dill pickle pasta salad, tomato soup and focaccia, and The Uncle Pete. Also love how much this shop shows up for the community. Be prepared for a long line on the weekends but it's for a reason!

Marty's is located in the holland neighborhood. They get quite busy on the weekend, with the line often stretching out the doors during breakfast hours. On weekdays, it's usually quick to get in and out! There is always plenty of parking on the residential streets nearby. You order at the register, and they'll call out your name when your order is ready. They have some seating indoors and outdoors, but it's a relatively small space so it does get crowded on the weekends but I've never had to wait too long to find a place to sit! Breakfast is served until 11 on weekdays and noon on weekends and lunch is served all day! Their menu is labeled clearly with what's vegan and vegetarian. They do have an option to sub for gluten-free bread for any sandwich, although I haven't personally tried the gluten free bread. Marty's breakfast sandwiches are an absolute must try! Their focaccia has a fluffy interior and lightly crispy exterior, and the toasted sesame seeds on it add a nice layer to the flavor. The eggs are perfectly fluffy, and the cheese is perfectly gooey and melty. It is, in my opinion, one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the cities. I also think the hash browns are THE best hash browns you can buy. They're house-made, with the potatoes grated more finely than your typical hash brown. They have a fluffy interior, crispy exterior, and are salted to perfection. I like them with a side of aioli, but they're also good on their own! I would highly recommend going to Marty's, and especially recommend their breakfast!

The egg & cheese with sausage, side of hashbrowns and whipped feta

I've visited Marty's Deli two times now and WOW WOW WOW! First, the deli is very small with limited seating and tables so during busy times, it can be difficult to find seating. It's great to visit in the summer so you can enjoy their expanded outdoor seating. The breakfast = really good! Highly recommend the egg and cheese with bacon, hashbrowns, and whipped feta for dipping. The hashbrowns are next level so do NOT skip these! The lunch is better than the breakfast IMO. The Pool & Yacht is so fresh tasting and the pepperoncini was an amazing touch. The Raffi Luigi was also out of this world! The mustard aioli was absolutely delicious. Overall, highly recommend visiting Marty's Deli... you can't go wrong with whatever you order! Can't wait to go back.

    Pool and Yacht

I have had this spot on my to-try list for so long and now that I can officially cross it off, I am mad at myself for not prioritizing it sooner! And, I'm adding it back on because I want to try more of these sandwiches. I went on a Thursday around noon, there was no line and I was able to get a seat inside with no problem. I heavily debated what to order because I wanted to try everything. Ultimately ended up with the Pool and Yacht. Excellent mix of ingredients and I cannot emphasize how fresh every single layer of this sandwich is. I also had the hibiscus iced tea - it's pricey for the size but, oof, what a treat!

    Lefty (make it spicy)
    Tonny Y.

I stopped by awhile back and got the Lefty (spicy), egg sandwich (forgot to take pictures), the Uncle Pete (also forgot picture), and the soup of the day (pumpkin this day). All of it was delicious! Let's first highlight the focaccia/bread that is used on all of these sandwiches, absolutely amazing and delicious! The Lefty (spicy) had a great crunch to it and definitely MN spicy in my opinion. The egg and cheese was so buttery and almost just melted in my mouth. The uncle Pete felt like a perfectly balanced BLT. My favorite, the pumpkin soup was so flavorful; almost tasted like a light curry and so many different spice combinations. The staff were all amazing. The space is a bit small inside, but has a cute vibe. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by.

    Brooke R.

Marty's is worth the wait! I've driven by a few times and seen the line out the door, but I totally get it now. The breakfast sandwiches are next level! The fresh focaccia is incredible and the eggs are perfectly cooked. The vibes and atmosphere are also amazing with tons of outdoor seating available. I can't wait to go back!

    Got the goods!
    Amanda S.

On the quest for the top breakfast sandwich in Minny and this one is near the top of the list! Always a long line on weekends but believe me when I say it's worth the wait. Cute restaurant and a lot of extra options in the fridge and other local offerings. Staff is great and the restaurant really shows up in the community (including having a notary on Thursdays!). Can't wait to go back!

Our favorite very old deli in West Palm Beach was sold 1.5 years ago and gone gone gone are the DELIGHTFUL happy charming old staff and the perfect old world flavors, cooking. In Sarasota where we just lived the last 5 years, a new deli closed after just 2 years, and there is nothing left. We've been visiting family in Sarasota every year for 40 years. Gone too in the Twin Ciries is the ownership by brothers Scot and Stu of Hopkin's beloved Crossroads Deli just last year. The new owners, a corporation owning 6-8 other restaurants have CHANGED almost all the recipes for breads, cakes , wonderous cookies and 80 % of all pastries! No more butter, no more fine ingredients and no more of their once " Grossinger's taste/quality" STELLAR seeded rye bread! They even eliminated the lemon flavoring. In their incomparable lemon coconut cake! Their stuffed cabbage is one of their only true deli dishes left. Sandwiches are half their original size...... heart breaking after going there 3-4 times a week for 25 years........ Cecil's of course had to cut back on the $$ use of butter in their pastries. But they have WORKED VERY HARD to still retain their wonderous long long ago heart warming flavors. ALL their sandwiches are AUTHENTIC. Old world New York City flavors! Made with care and love. My husband loves their beautiful generous Nova salmon platte. Noshing away happily! I love their pastrami Rachel's with plentiful half sour pickles lots of Russian dressing and creamy Cole slaw. Mmmmmm. I hope and pray Cecil's owner refrains for a long long time from selling his rare business. We must support Cecil's too.... Or lose it with all the others, and lose part of our joy and heart. I immediately started to worry. Unfortunately my worries have slowly " come true" ...and with an extremely upset heart, Crossroads has changed. Scott and Stu had dedication and sheer love of cooking and baking with the BEST of ingredients and exquisite rare perfect use of spices. Their flavors in everything they touched were some of the VERY BEST I have experienced nationally and in my home state of NY where my father taught Biochemistry in the Bronx at Einstein Med School (1955-1980) and where my intense passion for Delicatessen cuisine originated. Coming almost daily to Crossroads truly made my day! I adored EVERYTHING they created. Even shipped a large lemon coconut cake to mom's beloved 90 year old boss at Scarsdale Medical Center 8 years ago! Today: Their rye bread with caraway seeds was identical to Grossinger's. Now almost zero flavor. The broasted chicken if served hot fresh out of the cooker is still excellent. Some of the original spices gone. The lemon coconut cake has zero real lemon flavor just deep yellow coloring, Their pastrami and corned beef also lost 1/3 to 1/2 of their original flavor plus the size of the sandwiches 1/3-1/2 the original size. The new main dishes are almost tasteless. Their original recipes for matzo ball soup, etc are still good - - vary 8-10 rating. They no longer use as much/ perhaps any butter in their coffee cake " breads" which used to be a 10. Many cookies and tiny pastries in the same display case are still good. Compared to many other restaurants today they are now just " an ok". Gone are the days when Crossroads Deli was " TRULY SPECTACULAR "......

Being 5 minutes from our destination we decided to give it a try And boy are we glad we did! The sammiches weee absolutely outstanding. They come with a smorgasbord of toppings, so you need to peruse the list to determine if there is anything you DON'T want. We had three turkey sammiches and one ham, and everyone chose to modify their toppings slightly (note/ if you desire tomatoes, those need to be added as they oddly aren't on included in the smorgasbord ‍) I opted for everything - perhaps a bit anxious about how well all the flavours would mesh (mayo, mustard, horseradish, oil and vinegar along with various toppings). But you know something / it worked really really well. We also chose the potato salad as a side and it was also quite tasty. Lighter, northerly mayo's. While the sammiches weee being constructed we perused the offering in the attached grocery. Everything oooed fantastic and if we lived Locally, I would certainly be a regular - with an eye to trying many of their offerings beyond the sandwich counter.

On one side is a meat market with a variety of cuts of steaks, lamb, and other meats, which all looked fresh and quite nice. They also have a variety of items such as canned goods, pasta, eggs, etc. on the shelves opposite the meat counter. The entire place is quite sunny, pleasant, and cozy. On the other side is the eat-in, take-out deli sandwiches, that are made to order. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. The bread is freshly made (crispy baguette type) and you have a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Tuna Salad, Smoked Ham, or Corned Beef. All sandwiches are $16.50 each (including tax) and come with a choice of mayonnaise, spicy stone ground mustard, red leaf lettuce, thin sliced red onion, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, raw grated horseradish, pickled jalapeno, and roasted bell pepper. The default includes all toppings so if you don't want everything, be sure to specify what you do NOT want. Surprisingly, they do not carry any diet soda, nor do they stock any national brands (only local pop). There is a large menu on the wall, and you order at the counter and pick up the order (no table service). The food was attractively presented, and very, very good. My only gripe (besides the lack of diet pop) is that it's on the expensive side for lunch. Two sandwiches, a couple of bags of chips, and a couple of cans of pop will easily top $40, although I'd say the quality is top-notch.
