Baby beetle

YOOOOOOOOOOO! Pulled up because this spot had the best deal in my area -- $21 lunch AYCE KBBQ? Say less. At that price I'm basically legally obligated to show up hungry. Honestly, I'm a simple man. Just bring me beef belly, pork jowl, tofu soup, and I'm living my best life -- and yeah, they got all that for $21, so I was feeling like I beat the system. BUT THEN... plot twist. We ordered jalapeños... and they came with a complimentary baby black beetle . Not on the menu, not listed as extra protein, just vibes. Imagine if I had actually eaten that... I would've unlocked a new fear and probably a superpower I didn't ask for. At that point we're like, "Alright, they're gonna take care of us, right?" Maybe comp one lunch, maybe apologize with some dignity... nah. They said, "Best we can do is one melon alcoholic drink ." So basically... cheers to trauma. They still charged us for both meals like everything was normal. Like sir... I didn't come here for Fear Factor: KBBQ Edition. Service though? Not gonna lie, they were nice. No attitude, just... casually serving insect surprise like it's part of the experience. Overall vibe: standard AYCE KBBQ spot, nothing crazy... except, you know, the uninvited guest at the table. Would I come back? i dunno... but I'm inspecting my vegetables like a detective every-time ‍

Haven't been to Gen Korean BBQ in years. It's a solid AYCE spot for the price. Came here with coworkers and overall it was decent, but a few things stood out. Ventilation wasn't great, so expect to smell like BBQ after. The floor in our area felt slippery like it wasn't cleaned properly, and the tongs/plates we were given didn't look fully clean, we had to ask for replacements. Food was decent, nothing amazing, but fair for what you pay. Overall, it's an okay spot if you just want AYCE, but the cleanliness and ventilation issues bring it down a bit. I might come back occasionally, but not out of my way.

Overall for bang for your buck value kbbq. It's hard to beat Gen. For lunch pricing at $21.99. It is a bargain relative to the price. My favorite meats my family and I enjoy are beef belly, sirloin, and beef brisket. The Kim Chi fried rice is ok, and side dishes are also fine as well. This place gets packed during lunch hours with each waiter covering multiple tables, I want to say upwards of 10+ For a value oriented kbbq place, that is to be expected. Despite this, our waiter Ethan had great attentive service considering how busy he was. Overall I give this location a 4.2, highlights include the price to value ratio. Low points would be the crowd, and some of the hot dishes are a miss, for us that would be the bulgogi fries. Despite this, using Costco gift cards for even more a discount. This place is a must for the value oriented. We will be back for sure.

Came on a date with my husband on a Friday night. It was right before it got full so we were able to get seated quickly. The menu was easy to go through and the service was great. As far as food, there were limited side options compared to other kBBQ locations we have been to. We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the helpful staff. But unfortunately we were not impressed by the food.

Came in on 1/18 around 7:30 PM and the waitlist moved pretty fast about 20 minutes for a party of 5, which was a pleasant surprise during peak time. Food overall was solid. The cheese tonkotsu was definitely a standout and one of my favorite items. Everything else was good, nothing bad, just consistent and satisfying. Ambiance is energetic and fun, but it can get pretty loud with the background music and crowd, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a quieter dinner. Overall, a great spot for groups and a lively night out.

Super bad service, waitress take forever to help us out and the iPad service sucks! It doesn't work and you get the premium package for $51.89 but it takes forever! Never coming here again! Their menu it's limited and the portion of side dishes are miserable!

This was my first time being seated in what seems like a separate building from the main GEN location, which honestly confused me at first. Once we got there, I also had zero phone service, so I couldn't really look at the menu online -- not ideal. That said, our server John completely saved the experience. I believe he's a manager, and he was covering three sections at once. You could tell he was stressed and under a lot of pressure, but he was still doing an amazing job. He was running around nonstop like a chicken without a head -- I genuinely wanted to tell him it was okay to breathe Huge respect to him. Where we were seated, the door opening constantly let in cold air. My boyfriend liked the breeze, but I absolutely did not. If you tend to run hot, though, that seat would be perfect. One thing I did appreciate was the block of onion they give you to clean the grill between meats -- super convenient. I wasn't a fan of their hot sauce, though; it tasted like spicy ketchup to me. Now the food -- all of it was great. Meats we ordered: * Brisket * Beef belly * Hawaiian steak * Spicy pork bulgogi Everything was flavorful and cooked well. For appetizers, we got the cheese corn and bulgogi fries, and both were fire. The dinner menu has a lot of appetizer options to choose from, which was a nice bonus. Overall, great food and an outstanding server. The layout and seating situation weren't ideal, but I'd still come back -- especially knowing how solid the food is and how hard the staff works. (Would have been 4 stars if it wasn't for John)

My favorite KBBQ place! The wait time can get very insane but, if you get there by opening time or before 5 it is actually really nice time! Service can vary in the time you go! It's always very busy but love the ambience. The food never fails! I always leave super full!

What an incredibly underwhelming experience. I know a few people that love this place and I had not been here before. The family and I went a few days ago for dinner. The restaurant looks very trendy and club-like from the outside. The service was not great, just right off the bat. The hostess who sat us didn't wait for us to walk us to our table (a group of people walking in to the restaurant cut us off) and when we found her and sat down, literally 30 seconds pass before she tells us we have to move because she sat us at the wrong table - on the opposite side of the restaurant. Her general demeanor was not friendly. This was our first time here, and we let our server know that, he gave us a quick run-down of how the experience was meant to go, which was a bit disappointing in terms of limitations of ordering (e.g., no doubling up on sides). Someone came and literally dropped the metallic workings for the burner into the table and rushed away. Our meat came (very small portions) and we began cooking. Then a woman walked passed and turned our fire down without saying anything and walked away. The meat stopped cooking. The meat was taking so long to cook and all of the staff were running around (literally someone ran past us) so my husband was trying to figure out how to turn the fire back up. We finished the small portion of meat, but had to wait maybe 15 minutes before our server came by again so we could order more. We sat waiting for food longer than actually eating, not to mention the staff continually turning our burner down (no wonder the limit is 2 HOURS - takes this long just to cook your meat). I also had to stop someone to ask them to switch out the burner after cooking for a long period of time. The quality of meat was fine, the options for dipping sauces was lacking, the white rice was cold. After we finished eating, we had to wait maybe another 20 minutes before I finally decided to flag someone down just so we could pay and leave. It wasn't until this moment - when I had to stop someone for help - that our server came over and apologized for the wait. Suffice to say, this was a disappointing first-time experience. Overpriced, sub-par service, basic food.

Here for dinner and upon sitting down, utensils such as tongs and scissors were not throughly cleaned. There were still left over burnt meat marks on both tongs and scissors. We ordered out 2nd round of meat within 20 minutes and waited for roughly an hour for our second round of meat to be skipped. We had also ordered soup.. the soup was ordered when we sat down. We were told that soup was being made after checking in on the soup after 20 minutes and after an hour of waiting.. (mind you patiently waiting).. they had ran out of the soup. We understand they were busy however tonights service was not the greatest.

First text, nothing else!!!!

I am writing to express my disappointment with the service my party received today. We arrived at 9:30 PM and were informed by the host that the wait time would be approximately 10-15 minutes. After waiting outside for nearly 40 minutes, I went back inside to check on our status. A different staff member informed me that our name had already been called and that we had failed to respond. However, we were waiting directly next to the entrance the entire time and never heard anyone call us. Furthermore, while I received the initial confirmation text that we were on the waitlist, I never received the second notification stating our table was ready. By the time this was addressed, the restaurant was nearing closing time. We were told that service would be rushed/limited as a result, so we ultimately chose to leave. This was a very frustrating experience, and I hope this feedback helps improve your seating and notification process.

This place is eh. Service is slow. The meats are similar to other places but things don't come out fast enough. Their banchan is scarce and everything else is just ok for the $30 lunch option. I don't know if I will come back, but it's worth trying.

I recently came here to make my stomach bigger than my eyes and accomplished just that they have two locations in the same parking lot all the staff were very attentive and welcoming my waiter was T-Roy shout out to him as we were not his only table but he still made sure we received everything we asked for in a timely manner the lights are dim so it's not overly bright and there's music being played with a variety of genres giving it a soft relaxing vibe even though it was very busy tables were like revolving doors everyone was happy cooking and enjoying family time or intimate time I had 2 premium which is all the good meat included the food was amazing which I would find hard not to be considering it's cooked by us I love it the only thing I didn't like was we were seated at the table right in front of the door and guest kept holding it open and standing there,

I always order the #6 with the short ribs, chicken, macaroni salad, and rice. Normally I get double macaroni salad because it's hands down my favorite part of the meal. The macaroni salad is so good, perfectly cooked with that ideal al dente texture, creamy, flavorful, and well seasoned. I could honestly eat a whole bowl of just that. The short ribs are delicious too. Whatever marinade they use has amazing flavor and the meat is always tender and satisfying. The chicken itself is pretty simple and doesn't have a super strong flavor, but it's always cooked well and pairs nicely with everything else on the plate. Overall, it's just good quality food all around. I usually order delivery, but this was my first time actually going inside for pickup. The restaurant had a really cool atmosphere and everything looked clean and organized. There were customers dining in, a few people waiting in line, and the employees were working efficiently as a team. The pickup process was quick and easy. I walked up, they asked if I was there for pickup, I gave my name, they repeated it back, handed me my food, and I was out the door within minutes. I've tried other Hawaiian BBQ spots before, but this one is by far my favorite, which is exactly why I keep coming back here instead of going anywhere else. Definitely looking forward to my next order. Highly recommend if you want flavorful, satisfying Hawaiian barbecue.

I've been avoiding coming to this place since last year when I've read a lot of bad Yelp reviews…read moreabout it - but thought we should give it chance on a less-busy middle-of-the-weekday and arrived about 5pm. It wasn't busy at all - which I was thankful, because in general, if a restaurant is busy, that usually means we don't get good service - SO I was very happy the server came and seated us right away. Our order was taken promptly and was stoked that they had an open bar for sides (buffet-style) to serve myself immediately for the salads, kimchi, sesame oil, seasoning, rice-paper (wolnamssam-yong), radish wrap (Ssam-mu), etc. - because in my experience with other KBBQ restaurants, the servers NEVER come fast enough to refill those sides for you, so I'm super relieved about this place for allowing us full control of that - without my feeling like I have to keep waving down a server. I was also excited to see additional sides offered as part of this very reasonably-priced All-You-Can-Eat! I had Miso-soup, even got Korean Seaweed Roll, Fried-Rice, fruits - Pineapple chunks, Orange slices, Jello (my fave)! They also had Mac-salad, Potato salad, also offered cooked fried chicken, baby clams, crawfish, fried wontons, edamame, eomuk (Korean fish cakes), Japchae (Korean Glass Noodle), etc. Plenty of sides also offered self-serve that you can cook on the grill, like onions, broccoli, mushrooms, etc. I was impressed with their choices at this price point! SO, my recommendation is - give this place a chance - sometimes restaurants do have bad days (as do servers and employees) which can get them a bad Yelp review). Today I appreciated that the servers were helpful and attentive. I LOVED the food: We ordered the Beef Brisket, Marinated Beef Bulgogi, Beef Belly, Pork Belly, Marinated Pork Belly - and yes, ALL included at the same price point (we went for the cheapest menu option) at $24.99 per person - so much value for that low price! Now I'm afraid to post this review because want this place for myself to be my own secret (LOL) - I loved the fact it wasn't crowded for such a huge venue - and we got served right away +++++!

Surprisingly, the mall wasn't very crowded so we decided to try M Korean BBQ since it had been a while since we had Korean BBQ. It only took about 10 minutes to be seated and the salad, banchan, and tea were brought out very quickly. We also split a pitcher of Blue Moon since they didn't have any pitchers of Korean beer which was rather disappointing. Apparently you can only order K beer by the bottle. We went with the Signature Combo option which worked out well with more than enough BBQ to satisfy the 4 of us. The servers come to your table to not only bring you your food but also to cut the meat into individual portions and cook it for you. They did a wonderful job of switching out the grills so you never have to worry about getting the blackened residue on your meat. The kim chee was very fresh and well seasoned. The green salad was also excellent. The quality of the meat was extremely good for the price they charge. The restaurant also has a no tip policy but they do add a 10% service charge for cooking at the table which is quite reasonable. My first visit was very impressive and I look forward to returning again in the near future when I feel the need to partake of another KBBQ meal.
