Very good service from all the servers we've had here. We come very often and always feel welcomed. Some of the servers even remember us and sometimes remember our order, which is really nice and makes the experience feel more personal. The only downside is the snow crab legs. Sometimes we feel like we pay too much for them because they occasionally have very little meat inside. Other than that, we usually enjoy coming here and appreciate the great service. read more

I always love going to boiling crab when I'm craving seafood. I came on a Tuesday night and the wait wasn't bad only 5 minutes. The workers are all nice but a bit slow and make you feel like an inconvenience when asking for help. There's a lot of workers but I still had to spend a majority of my time flagging people down for help. Luckily the kitchen is well staffed because all of my food came out quickly and fresh. I always get the Cajun fries medium spice this is honestly my favorite thing from TBC I could definitely eat 2 baskets on my own but I ordered more food so I didn't. I also ordered 1 pound of shrimp and 1 sausage with whole sha bang and medium spice. My 2nd favorite thing here is the sausages so good, big, flavorful, and great texture/chewy. The shrimp is boiled shrimp meh not my favorite but it is what it is. Instead I love the sha-bang bang shrimp it's peeled, large, battered crispy, and deep fried also medium spice the sauce on this is more flavorful than the sauce in the boiled bag of shrimp. Overall I had a good experience besides having to flag workers down for help often. read more

Definitely join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time, that's a life saver Highly recommend the LIVE crawfish - huge difference in aroma, flavor, and texture from the original. The crab fries are also a must get, it's like the "surf" version of carne asada fries. Yum Pro tip - get some rice to pair with the leftover sauce from the seafood boil - don't waste that liquid gold!! Came here after a shorter Disneyland/DCA trip and was very happy with the food and experience. I had been craving boiling crab for a while now and normally I would go to either the Alhambra or the Rosemead locations, but my boyfriend and I decided to eat at this location since it was closest the parks. While doing research I saw in photos that this location offered gloves which was very important in my decision for this location. I am not sure if other locations provide gloves (there is at least one other boiling crab location in Garden Grove). We arrived at around 2:30p and waited for the restaurant to open their doors at 3p. We joined via yelp waitlist on their tablet outside of the restaurant and were notified within 5 minutes that our table was ready. The restaurant was clean and the service was quick and efficient. We got a booth table which was perfect because i love to sit next to my boyfriend while we eat instead of across. Our server was Jimmy and he took our drink and food order immediately. He also gave us tons of lemons which I loved. Our food came out piping hot and delicious. It was my first time trying eggs in my seafood boil and I really enjoyed them. My boyfriend says getting all the add ins: potatoes (3 per order), corn (1 per order), sausage (1 link cut in pieces per order), and the hard boiled eggs (3 per order) is the way to go for maximum flavor and deliciousness. My boyfriend and I were very satisfied with our meals, the price, and the service. We had several staff members come by and check in on our table, as well as surrounding tables throughout the meal. We ended up ordering 2 drinks, 3 lbs of shrimp, 2 orders of potatoes, 3 corn, 1 sausage, 1 order of eggs, and two sides of white rice of less than $100. This time I ordered a pound of shrimp with the Whole Shabang sauce (medium spice), plus corn and potatoes, a side of white rice, and extra limes. This Location is definitely one of the bigger boiling crabs offering different seating sections both booth and tables. Which is good considering boiling crab is always packed and there's usually a wait time. Our food never takes long to come out and there's many staff walking around at all times. Food is always a 10/10 and we've never run into any issues. I definitely recommend joining the waitlist ahead of time which is another feature i appreciate. This time around we ordered shrimp and blue crab but i would say the shrimp was the start of the show and i prefer the crawfish over the crab so will go back to order that next time. read more

Once inside, everything proved worth the wait. Our server, Alex, (worked there 7 years) was so helpful and friendly! He kindly and patiently explained the menu, how everything works, what's popular, and offered recommendations of his favorite items. We started with a basket of delicious cajun fries. For the main course, my friend and I each ordered 1 pound of shrimp, and added the corn, sausage, potatoes and hard boiled eggs (the whole sha-bang flavor, mild & medium). I truly didn't know what to expect once the food bag arrived at the table and maybe I should have done my research before going for the first time. It felt barbaric and exhilarating at the same time! Also didn't know how to peel shrimp or that I needed to and accidentally bit into a crunchy outside (oops). Our only regret was not having another person there to order another bag so we could try other things and share, But that only gives us a reason to go back soon. This was my first time at The Boiling Crab, and it did not disappoint! The environment is super casual and fun, perfect for rolling up your sleeves and digging in and you need to definitely wear the bib because it can get messy. My cousin and I ordered a pound of shrimp in the bag with The Whole Sha-Bang seasoning (mild spicy) along with corn on the cob and potatoes -- absolutely full of flavor! We also tried the fried Sha-Bang scallops with steamed rice, and they were delicious. Pro tip: definitely order a side of steamed rice because the leftover Sha-Bang sauce poured over it is just too good to waste. Service was attentive, and the food came out fast and hot. Came in for a birthday party of 10 and they were very patient and accommodating. We had a person who is actually allergic to seafood/shellfish and they were able to special prep their food to make sure there were no cross contamination. The shrimps are always good and the crawfish was on the smaller side but still good. The fries and sweet potato fries are always a hit and a must and great for dipping in the seafood bill sauce. The calamari was nicely done. And I always have to get the chicken wings as well and the seasoning is always on point. The fries catfish tasted well seasoned and fried well. The bang bang shrimp was delicious and a must try. The servers checked up on us more than enough times and did not leave us hanging. Over the years, we've been to The Boiling Crab intermittently but haven't gone recently until yesterday. The menu has changed so much since I last remembered. Everything is a la carte now. There are no combo deals/packages, which I prefer. Our server advised that this was recently taken off the menu and it may come back at a later date. For our meal, we ordered, snow crab legs (2 lbs), crawfish (1 lb), and shrimp (1 lb), along with gumbo. I was especially disappointed in the latter two. The shrimp was not firm and fell apart while peeling away the shell. The gumbo was missing protein (where was the shrimp or sausage?), lacked deep Cajun flavor, and the roux was thin, not a hearty consistency. Side note, although you can't bring in outside drinks/food, I noticed another party bringing in baguettes which apparently they do allow. Seeing this, I rushed over to Banh Mi Che Cali a few stores away and bought one. Dipping that fresh, crispy French bread in the sha-bang sauce with garlic took our meal to another level. Quite honestly that alone tasted better than the shrimp that I immediately regretted not buying more bread. Overall for the amount of money spent, we didn't leave feeling excited to return anytime soon. read more

Somebody give Jimmy therapy and make him meditate his bad energy off before work. Been here many times before never had an issue with customer service we've been served by many people in the past including Ariel, Brian, Daniel and many more who've exceeded our expectation. It was our first time being served by Jimmy and I don't know what he's going through but his vibe was off the moment we were greeted with him you could tell from his facial expressions, lack of emotion, his monotone he did not seem like he wanted to work and whatever that's fine we all have bad days but don't ruin the customer experience over your weird mood. My partner had an issue with his fries (he got lemon pepper fries) it tasted under seasoned and Jimmy dismisses his complaint and just said that's what you ordered ("those are lemon pepper fries") and despite my partner expressing his dissatisfaction Jimmy walked away and came back over with lemon pepper seasoning like here you go do it yourself it's not my problem type of attitude instead of having them remake the fries and season them the proper way. I work retail before and I don't argue with a customer telling them that's what you got and that's what you're going to deal with, no I apologize about it, take it back and bring a remake and make sure they are satisfied with it before I WALK AWAY. Afterwards, my partner wanted a drink they have a exchange and Jimmy ends up bringing his drink over and aggressively puts the drink down knocking over the salt and pepper containers and quickly turns away before we could ask for a straw (didn't bother offering us a straw either.) Jimmy got his manager Jen involved and things escalated when she noticed my "outside" food mind you people bring bread and other stuff there all the time that's considered "outside" food and if you're not going to allow one thing you shouldn't allow other "outside" items into the establishment. Have that same energy with others bringing "outside" item. They bring those "outside" items to make their meal enjoyable for the same reason I bring my own "outside" item to make my meal more enjoyable! Many workers according to Jen, recognized us, then they would know that I always have done this and they never said anything to me before. Previous servers and managers before them were super chill with us noticed, just asked about it, and let us enjoy our meal because we don't just order one thing we always order so much food to share between the two of us. My partner and I are arguing with her at this point, she ruins our appetite and expects me to put away my "outside" food that I'm already consuming and always have consumed in their establishment with no issue or "health concerns" and I understand her point of view about "liability" but we always returned and choose to eat here for a reason. She demanded I put away my food and order the same thing off the menu and makes me feel very uncomfortable the whole time. Like I'm already eating it I'm aware its from another place how I could blame them, but like she said they have cameras, exactly you have cameras to back yourself up if I happen to "accuse" them for feeling sick. I'm not that type of person to accuse them for making me "sick" knowing I'm eating something I KNOW I like, I wanted, and ordered many times from another establishment. Jen just stands there awkwardly with her hands shaking as if she's nervous and my partner had to ask her to leave us alone so we could finish and leave already. Also, she never gave us a new server only one nice gentleman asked if we were okay and if we needed anything else and made us feel welcomed unlike Jimmy. Anyways after some exchange she walks away and at this point we're upset, wanted to leave, and forget about everything but we ended up staying kinda forcing ourselves to eat trying to enjoy this quality time together because this was our first date in a long time and mind you it's not a 10 minute drive for us we drive 40 minutes here and back so obviously we love this place. We left and ended up paying for everything even the unseasoned fries they never fixed which Jen the manager said she would take off but never did lol she was obviously upset. We really liked this place and normally stay longer and spend $200+ but this time we left with $73 on our tab and a unsatisfied experience my partner who've been looking forward to eating here was still hungry after leaving. Thanks to the only other server who acknowledged us after so many other servers walked past us and ignored us after the weird experience with his manager and coworker (you could tell they talked about us) even though it was brief he did better than his manager and coworker.
