Like buoyancy and gravity pulling against each other, five star atmosphere is dragged down by two star food in this entrepreneurial experiment from restaurateur Tim Love. The reason reviews for Gemelle are all over the map is that it's hard not to have some strong reaction to this place. We were wowed by the design, sense of vision, and the well dressed clientele, then underwhelmed by the food as we were eaten by mosquitos. As for the atmosphere, inside dining and bar have trendy lighting and design. Outdoor seating is part elevated deck, part lower garden with a satellite bar, patio tables, a bocce court, built around beds of vegetables growing for use by the restaurant. Once we sat down on the deck, I was continuously bitten by mosquitos. Then, the food did not deliver even close to what the atmosphere promised. Despite this, Gemelle may still work for some customers. If you're going to do it, here are some tips I'd offer. 1) If you're going to sit outside *definitely* cover yourself with bug spray. We sat on the deck and the next day I had twenty bites on my arms and back. I couldn't help thinking this would SUCK from a Covid spread perspective were I not fully vaccinated. 2) Make a reservation. We went Thursday at 8 and there was a wait. 3) Bring a salt shaker, unless you like bland food. By bland, I mean "send it back, this can't be right" bland. Might pack a shot of vodka too. The drinks are light. 4) Don't expect authentic Italian cuisine, even though its marketed as such. The Detroit Style Deep Dish (Sicilian) pizza just isn't. The edges of mine were overdone, ingredients and cheese were concentrated in the middle, and the crust was not right. The middle was amazing. But, this isn't Cane Rosso where pizza only happens in the middle of the pie. If it's ehffing Sicilian, it needs to be right. The Fried Baby Artichokes, Lemon and Parmesan was over cooked and had no lemon taste whatsoever. We asked to change it out and went with the breadsticks, also bland. The pesto made it a little interesting. 5) They charge $1.25 for a side of dressing for dipping. This is typically a death knell, a sign that management is counting beans so closely they must be struggling. I can't see that here, so it just came off as kinduva dick move. Hell, Chili's will give you a ramakin of ranch to dip fries in without charging. This upscale place with menu items above $30 needs to charge me for a little cup? 6) Our server Lisa was great, like mega thumbs up. The bartender was awkward and kinda slow to wipe food debris from the bar in front of me as I sat there. The manager was friendly, personable, and accommodating when we didn't like the appetizer and took it off the ticket. 7) The lower level patio, the coolest part of the venue, is not open all the time. And, there's no schedule for this per se. You just have to call ahead. This kinda sucks if you want to time your visit when it's not too busy in order to enjoy this very cool cultivated space. So, my thought is the target market is not foodies, but people who like a sense of atmosphere and society, but could care less how interesting the food is. If you want Detroit Deep Dish, try Jets. For drinks, The Amber Room. Better Italian can be found all over Fort Worth. But, Gemelle has a one of a kind vibe. So, I recommend with a 3 and some caution. read more

So the ambience was nice. It was pretty inside. I liked how they gave you free shots for your first time there. Free birthday shot for my friends birthday. The vibes were there for sure. Now the food. I got the pork ragu and as much as it looked delicious, it was bland. The noodles were still a little hard, the meat had no flavor. The Caesar salad was a little too drenched in dressing and very potent with anchovy. The pizza was good. I've never had pizza with honey and that was very different. It was good. I came here for a work dinner as a client so was looking forward to all of the offerings on the menu. The location is a bit out of the way and is kind of a road side spot, but high end. The property is unique as it has an outdoor area with a courtyard and a small pool. I am not sure if people use the pool or not when it is warm enough. There was an issue with our party before we even arrived as our group was more than 10 people and they would not let us reserve with a group larger than 10, so some sat at a different table initially, but then we were able to join together at one large table along the backside of the enclosed patio. Seemed like more of a hassle than needed to be. On to the food...the menu has a daily special and we were there on a Tuesday so the crispy salmon skin did not sound good to me. I got the fettucine with pork ragu and it was pretty good. The sauce could have used a little more kick, but everything tasted fresh and the portion size was decent. Vibes were good. I would recommend not sitting outside during summer because we were watching everybody swap, flies away, and kind of get frustrated. But that's not their fault, we were the ones that chose to sit outside with the elements of nature. The workers were pretty kind, one of our servers was Laotian, just like me, and was really easy to bond with and very helpful. We thought this would be one of those Instagram places where you mostly pay for the aesthetic and get small portions of food, but we were actually able to eat quite a bit and get full off of it. read more

First off: I love the overall atmosphere and experience of this place and look forward to coming again. It is a great place to come spend time with friends or for a date night. The food wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me. It was good but I expected more wow for the price. I got the crispy chicken Alfredo and the pasta could have been cooked better, but overall I enjoyed it. The mozzarella sticks and eggplant sticks were great appetizers. The atmosphere was 10/10. I definitely felt safe here during Covid as they were taking precautions. One of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. There was a lot of hype around this restaurant. We had to make reservations and if we missed our reservations it would've cost us $60. Our expectations were high. The restaurant is beautiful. There was live music. The first girl we met that worked there was very, very kind. After that, it went down hill. After our drink and appetizer orders were taken, it took an HOUR to get those things. When my friend got her pinot noir, it was ICE cold. She requested a glass that was not ice cold, and after about half an hour they brought her a glass. Once they finally took our actual orders (an hour and a half after being there) the waitress asked me if I would like chicken to go with my cacio y pepe. I said sure, but what she did not tell me is that adding chicken cost a whole $10 more on top of the ridiculously overpriced food. We waited another hour to even GET our food that we were being charged so much for. The portions were itty bitty, the food was extremely mediocre and overpriced. The waitress had switched my friend's wine to a more expensive one without telling her, and gave attitude when she was confronted about it. We will never be back. Save your money AND your time. This place is out to get as much money for you as possible, while posing to be a classy restaurant. read more

The food doesnt exactly blow you away but they do good deals on Tuesday and Thursday for drinks and buy one get one pizza's. Well after sifting through tons of Google and Yelp reviews, we finally went in to see for ourselves and what I'd say is that the venue, service, and food, and drinks, are all on point. Did not interact with the bar at all so can't comment. The outside upper level patio space is pretty nice on a warm spring evening. Can be a tad loud but I kinda liked the energy and vibe it gave. This is our second time coming in to the restaurant. This time it was for a birthday get-together for myself that my husband was putting together. He tried calling the party organizer. They told him they no longer work with the company. He finally got to talk to someone working at the actual restaurant he was told we were only allowed 12 guests. We arrived today at 11:30am, to an empty restaurant. No other customers inside. kind of annoying that he was told we could have no other people, would have been nice to not have people left out. Next was the service. It was just our table, we were told we couldn't spilt the check. Except for 4 checks split equal. It took 20 plus mins to get our food out. Again, we were the only ones inside the restaurant. The server seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. My husband is in the service industry so he made it known how many people and that was a special event. Gemelle is a good hang out spot anytime of the day. The decor is very eye catching. They also have a covered patio and outside patio. When first arriving, the service is a little out of place. People are not friendly. It was on a Sunday late afternoon and it was actually pretty empty. We asked to be seated outside if possible. We got lucky and got a spot.. guess there was a reservation. We were told food was not allowed downside of the patio and only drinks. Its very spacious - games, lounging seats and a wall decal of LOVE. The food here is pretty good! I wouldn't say its the absolute pizza I ever had. We ordered a lot of drinks and just pizza and something from ant pasti to soak in the alcohol. What a lovely place! This ironically was the only restaurant still open last night while it was raining sleet and icy roads. Stopped in before heading back to my hotel for the evening. The ambiance gave me a hip girly yet old worldly vibe. I was expecting the menu prices to be scary high, but they were super reasonable. The bartender stopped by the table to offer suggestions for the menu as well as take our drink order. I typically drink a vodka soda and he decided he would make something just for me. What I ended up with was a lemon drop which is not something I would ever order, nor did I like it. He decided after that to make what I asked for. I'm not sure if I was charged for that drink, but it was a big miss... I took a star off for that because it was kind of an awkward exchange. I dined with my business partner and we shared a plate of the pork ragu pasta and the rattlesnake rabbit sausage pizza. Both were excellent. The pasta is house made and cooked al dente. Gemelle has frozen aperol spritzes and while my tiny-ass glass was a visual disappointment upon arrival, the flavor and refreshment did not disappoint. Cocktails have a feminine flair that vibes well with the greenery on the screened porch patio and in the gardens below, which are rather pretty. And the food is good and veggies are grown in the garden yada yada. That's cool but like, not $20 tiny appetizer cool (I'm looking at you, artichoke hearts). We came here for an interview dinner recently and it was such a nice treat! We ordered the boomtown pizza as an appetizer, arugula salads, several dishes to try. The boomtown pizza had just the right amount of toppings marinara sauce. It was a little on the salty side and were disappointed in the lack of mushrooms, but it was overall great. I had the lobster pasta and it had room for improvement as well. The pasta was hard and chewy and the lobster pieces looked more like crawfish pieces. The sauce that it came with was creamy and delicious tho! I give this place an additional star for all of the thoughtful details that they put into the place. The cloth napkins and coasters all had their brand and name on them! Apparently the owner of the restaurant has twin daughters and hence the French name gemelle. Finally tried Gemelle (pronounced by staff as gem-ell-ee) and we LOVED our experience start to finish. First things first, the hostesses were sweet and accommodating, and our waiter was perfect - attentive but not hovering, spaced out our courses and gave awesome recommendations. Let's start with drinks: I of course started with the frozen Aeperol Spritz (refreshing, their signature for a reason) and my husband got the Bitter, sweet cocktail - delish! Followed it up with the Bellini (Prosecco and peach sorbet) which was basically dessert - so delicious and sweet! My husband rounded out the night with the Milanese Morning (espresso and rye) 10/10! Now for the FOOD! The food here is excellent. The pizza is some of the best that I have had in Fort Worth. We made a reservation and had great service, however, the reason for my four star rating is because there were many people around us who did not experience the same thing. When our party of two arrived, we were told that there were only three waiters and they would do their best to serve us. There was a large table of about 12 next to us and they were clearly getting more and more uncomfortable. We received our drinks and appetizers before they even ordered. It just created a little extra tension during dinner that was unnecessary. On a Saturday night, you need to have plenty of help. Order the cheese sticks, they are great and include some fried eggplant. All of their salads are good, but we especially liked the Caesar. The wings are mediocre, so you should probably pass on those. The Boomtown and T's pies are fantastic. read more

We finally got the opportunity to try this place. Most of the stuff Tim Love does is usually pretty good. They don't have a lot of tables and they don't take reservations so plan on waiting. Some of the seating is outside too so keep that in mind this summer. There is very limited space at the bar as well so come early. The drink was had with tequila was refreshing and there is a decent beer selection. When we got seated, we had the opportunity to try a few of the appetizers. We got the crudo and the mozzarella sticks. Both were excellent. For my main course, I went with the Alfredo with a nice piece of fried chicken on it. Some of the dishes have the classic rattle snake sausage that is so good too. What I like about this place is that portions are sized correctly. You don't get a heaping plate of pasta like you would at the Olive Garden. If that's what you are looking for, don't go here. The portions are sized perfectly. The place is also quite reasonably priced. Four of us ate here for under $200 and that was with a bottle of wine as well. read more

We started with Fried Baby Artichokes that were absolutely delicious then split Preserved lemon and garlic chicken. The chicken was good but not amazing. It came with crispy potatoes and zucchini which was surprisingly cold but absolutely delicious. They had run out of two deserts which happened to be the only two we were interested in.
