Excellent food from breakfast to their Patty Melts. The staff is quick and ready to refill your drinks at a moments notice. Love playing Keno while having breakfast The ambiance is 1950s diner vibe. Love gifting food for the needy.

My family spending our gift certificate that we were given as a Christmas gift, this past December!

My family of seven had a wonderful breakfast at Gels this morning! The coffee was so good, all the breakfast food was absolutely dee-licious and our waitress, Laurie who is the owners mom, was not only extremely nice but she was also a hoot!! She kept us in stitches during most of our meal! This is the only breakfast place, that I know of, where you can get free entertainment! We can't wait to go back again by spring!! On a 1-10 scale, we would give it a 10, hands down!!

My father, son, and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast here on Thursday. Leyden, our server made sure we were well taken care of. I commend this restaurant for their commitment to providing and offering healthy ingredients and to making as much of their food as possible homemade. What a difference it makes! I indulged in a tasty homemade banana bread masquerading as french toast. It was out of this world! I was very appreciative that they offered real maple syrup. I didn't mind paying the small upcharge. It was worth it! This homey diner style restaurant is well known for its philanthropic contributions to the surrounding community, proudly offering a food pantry in the entryway where customers can either donate or take what they need- no questions asked. It's little "extras" like that which make this restaurant stand out!

Gel's is a GREAT breakfast and lunch place, with great food and zero pretenses about itself. Right on the menu it says that they "believe in giving you the highest quality food at the best price," and they deliver, in a very busy, friendly, local diner-style atmosphere. This is the neighborhood place you wish you had in your neighborhood. They have 12 different egg special combinations, every breakfast option you could want, from omelettes to crepes, to pancakes, French toast (including home made bread and homemade banana bread options). Everything that can be made in-house is homemade, fresh and has great ingredients. There is also a constant group of breakfast, lunch or dessert specials that are almost always surprising, interesting, or completely tempting and always house made. Lunch is the same, with all the typical Diner favorites including great hot weiners (see my lunch below) and perfect (and I mean perfect) fries. They just know what they're doing here. And they do it in a friendly way despite how busy everyone is running around all day long due to the constant flow of patrons in and out. Prices are great as well. Three weiners all the way, fries and a soda that was filled two and a half times came $12 and change. A great deal. I didn't have any room for the wide selection of scratch, made desserts and dessert specials that are also available. Gel's is one of those places the locals love, but hope you never find out about it because you might take their regular table. It's a five-star joint for this type of restaurant and a four-star place for any kind of eatery. Try it and see.

Corned Beef Hash, Pancakes, Texas French Toast

Truly a hidden gem. The vintage decor is so fun, and the long list of mimosas is such a pleasant surprise. Our server was so helpful and even subbed out my toast for a slice of french toast to save me money, so I owe her my life and will definitely return. Jokes aside, I love a classic breakfast. The pancakes were perfectly fluffy, the hash was crispy, and the home fries were well seasoned. The hot weenie omelette was the cherry on top of an excellent experience.

I got the Big Ol' Burger and it was so good. Cooked perfectly, the special sauce was delicious and as you can probably tell from the photo, the fries were exactly what I was looking for. Everything tastes really fresh here. It has that farm-to-table quality, but in a relaxed, laid-back (but still really pretty) setting. We came for lunch and I loved that they had brunch options too. We didn't get any adult beverages but I was very tempted by the entire drink menu, so next time! Our service was also outstanding. Really everything was A+. Definitely a local spot that I need to remember to go to more often.

She showed me to my table, brought a carafe of water, and welcomed me in. I was quickly welcomed by Sergio, my server, who shared the special and the soup of the day. Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.

Between the cozy tavern space, the great craft drink menu, and that distinct "hidden retreat" vibe, it really turns a standard dinner into an experience. It's the kind of place where you can easily get lost in conversation while exploring a great menu. The menu definitely has more of a Mediterranean feel, which personally isn't my favorite type of food, but they were still super accommodating to what I wanted and needed. And the drinks are STRONG definitely not stingy with those! Between the atmosphere, the staff, and how accommodating they were for my birthday, I would absolutely go back. My fiancé and I ordered the Dominican breakfast, its eggs over medium, fried cheese, fried salami, mashed plantains with onions. Now I'm Hispanic and I love me a good Dominican breakfast but this was one of the best I've had ever! And trust me I've had many! Firstly the salami and cheese pieces were nice and big, I'm used to people being cheap and making them very small. Also we did pick up- so we were there a few waiting as it was made fresh, which I appreciate! The server I wish I would've got her name had us have a seat at the bar and got us water while we waited. She was such an aunty vibe and I loved it. I was observing others who were sitting down eating and their food looked so yummy! They were also equally out loud expressing how much they enjoyed their food. Also the plates are all decked out and even the tables they gave off love vibes! This place while very small, packed a punch. Me and my fiancé are going to come back probably this weekend to sit down and enjoy a meal and I'm so excited. Give this place a go for sure. They have limited parking in the front on the street. But they have a good amount of parking in the back of the building. Trust me it's worth it.
