Full Disclosure: I work in IT as a consultant in and around the Portland Area. Also, this is a long review and will directly name other companies and my experience and why I absolutely LOVE Geeks4Mac. TL;DR Version -- Stop reading. Call them now. My only negative is that they don't work on tablets/smartphones. Otherwise you can bet I'm sending people there when my workload is too much. ~~ Now then; I had a Macbook Air from 2009 that had gone through the wringer over the years. Unfortunately, a hinge broke off the machine. No big deal, right? And I needed the thing repaired in a hurry. No big deal, right? Nope. The big negative about Apple products is that they're only made in one country, that being China. Because of that, and the fact that there's a new model about every six months, few places keep parts in stock. Even so, I knew from my own experiences that the parts wouldn't be that expensive nor take that long to do. I called MacForce, and they wanted $750 to add some screws and reattach the screen. Absolutely not. To their credit, they were clear that they didn't have the parts in stock. Next place, I tried The Mac Store on NE Multnomah. They kindly took $50 for check-in, sat on it for a week, then wanted $750+. By their own admission, they opened the box, saw the condition and wanted to REPLACE THE WHOLE SCREEN, hinges and all! (the screen itself, by the way, worked fine. It was just the hinge. (I later got an email from their Lead Service Tech who gave a song and dance about "parts for an old machine being difficult to source and the screen was 'irreparable' because the bezel was removed and needed a full replacement.") Uh huh. Sure. At least they refunded the $50, but I was still a week or more behind. (A reminder; a "bezel" is the metal frame around the screen. It's held on by only adhesive and doesn't affect the screen at all. The screen itself had no actual issue with it; it just needed to be reattached.) Enter Geeks4Mac. I walked in. Placed the machine on the counter. Answered a few questions. Paid nothing up front. I got an email within 24 hours detailing what needed to be done, what my options were for parts, guesstimate of turnaround time and shipping times for parts. Later, I found that the WIFI antenna was also apparently damaged. Honestly? My guess it was from The Mac Store, who last handled it. G4M replaced that, too. Total bill? $250 and change and finished in less than a few days once the parts arrived. No hard sell. No trying to repair what wasn't broken. No pushing, no shoving. Clear. Concise. Accurate. Erick is the absolute greatest. I'd give him 12 stars if I could. Let me lay it out: 1.) He knows what he's doing far more so than anyone else in town. I use my mac for music production and have been trying to learn about computers because I'm beginning to do some heavy-lifting with it so I've been all over town to a bunch of other places and done tons of research online -- Erick knows at least as much if not more than anyone else around. 2.) He really listens to what your specific personal needs are; He will help you understand and answer your questions endlessly (I've asked him questions about the details of what exactly is wrong or what I need to change, what the different parts of my computer are and why we need to what for hours and hours) and he always does so with grace, patience and enthusiasm. He keeps it personal and really wants to help you work out your solution. 3.) He also will be 110% straight up honest with you and is never trying to be sly -- He will always tell you the cheapest way to get something done even if it means going elsewhere to get a part, but he charges extraordinarily reasonable prices anyways. Sometimes I've even called him to get advice/insight on something and he'll tell me his view and some options without charging anything. Erick is the best!! read more

After more than 12 years my old laptop (nicknamed the Dinosaur) finally became extinct. It was time for something new. But I didn't feel comfortable just going to a big box store or the apple store and picking out the latest model just because it's new. Erick had worked on the old dino a few years ago updating it and he knew what I was looking for in a newer model. Which is how I came to buy a new (to me) refurbished Macbook Pro from Geeks4Mac at a great price. Most importantly, however, was the service I received. I felt like I was really listened to as to what I needed in a new laptop and I was matched to the perfect model for me. And let me tell you, this is a fantastic model, was a great price, and of course Erick completely decked it out with everything current. All of my data was transferred from the old laptop to the new one overnight (no waiting!) and I am exceptionally happy with how everything turned out. I have and will continue to bring all my Mac repairs to Erick @ Geeks, but in addition I'll continue to make my Apple purchases through him too. I've decided to fix my MacBook Pro with a screwdriver and a box cutter...(what was I thinking???) It didn't go too well. I. came to see Eric and he immediately knew what kind of damage has happened and what needed to be replaced- a monitor's connector. When Eric has completed some additional tests he found out another bad news,- my display got burned as well, ouch...I was ready to pay hundreds of dollars, or take it to a junkyard, but Eric told me that he had a spare display and he can use it Ito save me money..Wow, nowadays not too many businessmen waking up thinking how to save me some $$$. Yet the biggest surprise was waiting for me when I've come to pick up my MacBook. Eric told me that while repairing it he found out that my 6 years old battery didn't hold the charge too well, and he....(are you ready for this????) he installed a battery with very few charging cycles...for FREE!!!!!. Eric is nor that a certified Mac technician, he is a true DOCTOR and he is in business of healing not just broken Macs but broken hearts as well, he is a terrific human being that can be TRUSTED! When I was searching online for a place to repair my Mac, I almost went with the first 5 star result that came up. After calling them, they seemed really impersonal and charged way too much money. I am SO happy I searched further and found Erick at Geeks 4 Mac. As far as first impressions go, I was immediately impressed walking into Erick's storefront which transports you into the pages of a comic book. Seeing all the thought he put into his business told me just how much pride he takes in his work. Not only did he get my laptop working in tip top shape, but it's worth mentioning how efficient his process is: I got email updates every step of the way so I wasn't just waiting in the dark for a week wondering what was going on with my computer. Forget the Genius Bar, Geeks4Mac is where it's at! I initially took my Macbook into Apple for liquid damage and battery issues and they quoted me an arm and a leg to switch out the entire logic board. At Geeks4Mac, they understand how expensive and unnecessary Apple repairs can be. Erick told me that replacing my logic board was the last resort and that the individual components of my laptop would be assessed to avoid having to do so. Unfortunately, my laptop was too damaged and needed a new logic board but Erick was very transparent about it. The repair took about a month, which was longer than expected, but this was back in March 2020, when the state first went on lockdown, so I'd attribute the delay to COVID. After getting my computer back, I witnessed it crash multiple times and messaged Erick about it, but between online classes, final exams, and my flight back to my hometown, I could only give my computer up for a few days. I first started working with Erick when he worked in an Apple Store and was one of the head "Genius's". I had wonderful experiences with him there, and when I found out he was starting his own business specializing in Apple products I was thrilled. I have used Erick and Jeromi to solve some difficult problems (becasue of my own doing) and the keep things running smoothly. They are polite, professional, and most of all so skilled with anything Apple. I just recently bought a new iMac through Erick. I was prepared to replace my 2010 Macbook - it needed a new battery and was sluggish at best. I made an appointment and dropped off the computer. There were a few issues that were clearly communicated and fixed. Additionally, the memory was upgraded to allow for the latest OS to be installed. I am not a tech person, and each step was communicated along the way. In fact, there were some issues with the OS update, and Erick was able to log on to my computer remotely to resolve the issue (at no additional charge!). I work in customer service, and this experience was exceptional. I never felt ripped off or like it was an inconvenience to repair a 6 year old computer (like I did at the Apple Store). I had an external drive that had a precious photoshoot I did with a model 10 years ago that had accidentally been deleted. After the deletion, I took it to a repair/restoration company who were unable to retrieve the images. In despair, I saved the external drive hoping that it could one day be salvaged. My salvation came from Erick of Geeks4Mac. I told him about my problem and he worked tirelessly to retrieve them for me. One of the happiest days of my life was when he called to say that he was able to get them ALL and they were waiting for me at his office! I had some concerns of Malware in my Mac mini, so I looked this place up on Yelp, and decided to give them a shot, based on their excellent reviews. They are not conveniently located for myself, but I can now say that they were worth the drive. The service was great, turnaround time was as expected, and cost was definitely fair. I had them perform a full tuneup, and even had them upgrade my RAM while they had the computer, because the cost for them to install it was comparable to what I would have paid for the parts alone at a store, and it saved me the time and trouble of having to perform the work myself. I have had Erick do two repairs on my Mac over the past year and have been extremely happy with his work. The first was a screen replacement that we had to wait a few days on parts, but once the new screen arrived he had my Mac returned to me within 24 hours. The next time was a more routine battery replacement and he worked to accommodate my travel schedule. I use my Mac for my consulting business and it is hard to be without it for too long. Erick knows his stuff and educates you on the break-in procedures after servicing (i.e. battery replacement) to make sure that you are a happy Mac user for the long term. I took my MacBook pro 15 circa 2015 retina in for battery repair and Erick did an AMAZING job repairing it and cleaning the dirt and dust that had accumulated over the years on the fan and in the ventilation system. With reviews there is always someone that has had a negative experience to balance the good with the bad. For the most part it keeps it all seemingly real. Unfortunately Geeks4Mac can't do wrong and therefore is a totally unreal experience. Scheduling is precise and easy. Pricing is fair and clear. Nothing but good things to say about Geeks4Mac! I took my older 2008 MacBook in after a hard drive crash with fingers crossed that at least some of my data would be recoverable. Not only did they recover all of my data but they were able to boost my memory and upgrade my laptop to give it at least a little more life before it becomes too old to use. Great service on my dead iMac. Erick quickly tested my hard drive, discovered that it was dead, suggested that he might be able to recover the data, and explained the pros and cons of fixing my old Mac vs buying a new one, with no pressure either way. I left him my backup drive, but he was able to recover everything on the original drive. And he suggested a memory upgrade: the cost was more than reasonable. I had a liquid spill on our Mac Air. Erik quoted a price to replace the keyboard that was far lower than the Apple Geeks. Once he had it apart he noticed corrosion on the mother board and connectors and even sent detailed pictures. We agreed that this needed to be dealt with so he did his liquid spill service, which is a lot cheaper than replacing the board, which is what the Apple Store does.I was also impressed with his professionalism and his communication throughout the process. read more

Eric did a fantastic job for me, and very quickly. Although it took an unusually long time for the part to come in, due to a snafu with his supplier, once he did get the part, it took him less than an hour to replace the broken screen on my MacBook Pro. He also noticed a missing foot on the bottom of my laptop, and replace that for me without even having to ask. He's a great guy and an asset to the community. I will definitely use Geeks4Mac for repairs again should I need them. read more
