It jammed the USB A, remote plug for my wireless mouse, into the front of the hard drive. After I picked it up the drive and tried to plug it into my computer, the drive would not mount. I thought all was lost, so I sent it over to Desert Data Recovery. I got a call the next day from a very nice woman, Kaylynn Ehlers. She explained that they would get to it after the weekend. They got back to me on Monday and explained the situation. They had taken the drive apart, and ran some tests, and said that although they could get the drive to Mount once they removed it from the case, they could not guarantee the integrity of the data. Kaylynn explained they could run a data recovery on the drive and quoted me a very reasonable price, but I opted to take the drive and try to recover the data myself since the drive could mount. I was actually successful and VERY LUCKY all data was recoverable. I really want to thank Kaylynn Ehlers over at Desert Data Recovery for her honesty and for helping me with the situation without a cost. I really trust these guys as they were honest with me and also quoted me a reasonable data recovery price. If I ever am in a situation again, where I need data recovery, I will not hesitate to give these people my business. They charge nothing upfront for an estimate with some analysis. A lot of companies do charge an up-front fee. Additionally, you don't have to send out your drive. You can drop it off locally, either in Mesa, Arizona or in Peoria. Thank you again, Kaylynn and Desert Data Recovery.

I had photos on there for the last 20 years and was so worried. Nicky, one of the co-owners, explained what they could do and how the whole process would work. I never wondered about it because it was so clear what they could/would and could/would not do. I left my hard drive with them and in a short time had an email explaining that they probably could recover my photos. And they did! I was so happy. The price is not cheap but it's reasonable considering what DDR is doing for you, In my case, in was bringing back 20 years of photos. (By the way, I learned to back up everything - redundancy!) I recommend this service without hesitation. They are transparent and customer-focused. If you have this happen, don't try to fix it yourself because that makes it harder for DDR to recover your stuff. Just take it in and explain what happened. They are not judgmental at all. They want to help and they really did help me.

Are you worried it's gonna take ages to get in to see them?! Are you worried about making the mortgage payment AND paying for the computer repair. So if those are your concerns you should take your trust issues and not walk but RUN to go see Tom. He has been helping me out of sticky computer situations for probably a decade now - I trust him implicitly and he will not only go the extra mile but will straight up tell you when you passed the last mile and it's time to just give up. And mourn the loss - of data or documents or computer - with you. Not enough stars to rate Tom, he is one of the good guys. He didn't exactly tell me to go for it, but he definitely gave me the confidence to know I was on the right track. I was able to save myself 100s of dollars by doing it myself. "SOMETHING" went wrong on our computer and I immediately called Blake and said HELP. His first words were, no problem, bring it in and we will get to work on it. WOW....Being a NON-computer person, this type of reassurance puts an ease into me, the last thing I need right now is to shop for a computer. Picked up my computer and Brandon is just so positive and willing to offer help with what I need. I'm happy both of them are at my store and will never leave. (just selfish thinking). Big time atta-boy for Data Doctors in having outstanding employees that help people like me !!...A trillion stars....

I took my pc in knowing that my ssd was failing in some way, but wanted to get it diagnosed on what…read moreexactly I needed to get replaced (the cables, connectors, or the ssd itself) so I could have peace of mind. After paying the $59, after waiting a weekend of relief, when I called for the follow-up, I was told what I already knew. That my ssd was failing, and they couldn't test it any further. Okay, I took it in for a diagnosis, told them I knew it was the ssd that was corrupted or damaged, and then three days later they tell me the same thing that I told them to begin with... But for the repair I was told it would be $240, and that it might not even work to get my data back. I told them I don't care about getting my data back, I just wanted a new drive and a fresh install of windows. I was told it would be $140 for that. I don't understand how buying a $50 ssd and reinstalling windows would cost $140. Even if I asked them to just ditch the ssd and install windows on one of my HDD's it would be the same cost. Since the only thing they told was the same thing I told them when I walked in the store, I would desire a refund. Update: I picked up my pc and when I asked about a refund, he was rather blunt and said that I didn't know what was wrong and insinuated that I was lying. He said something similar to "you would've fixed it yourself if you knew what the problem was". I told them that the problem was the ssd with the operating system downloaded on it when I originally called and when I brought it in... and apparently I'm being gaslit... There is no reasonable explanation for a new ssd and windows installation costing $140 at the minimum. It was not a transparent price, as when I asked on the phone and in person what their rates were they said both times 'it will be a $60 fee, BUT it will go towards total cost of the repair which is the cost of parts and a small labor fee' According to them, it would be $99 for the ssd replacement and $40 for labor. A 500 gb samsung ssd (already double the storage of my original ssd) is only $53 on amazon... I am a highschool student and can only work part-time hours, which means I don't have enough money to pay for these absurd up charges, and not enough time to do the repairs myself. I don't have enough money to have $60 go to waste when that is half the money I make in a week. I had to save money to even afford the "evaluation", and I am not interested in the $240 or $140 prices. Again, like before my update, I ask for a refund because the workers were a bit rude and blunt when I told them my situation and didn't care about the situation I'm in.

If I could rate NO STARS I would do it. THIS PLACE IS OVERPRICED AND PROVIDES VERY POOR SERVICE!!!…read more I have 2 experiences at Data Doctors, and BOTH of them are poor: 1) My hard drive on my HP froze up. Took my pc to another vendor who diagnosed it FOR FREE. They told me the fee would be about $1k to fit it, but said they could retrieve all my data. Since my employer was going to pay for it, I decided to take it to Data Doctors because of the reviews I had seen, and since they have so many locations around town. When I took my pc in, it was a $100 NON-REFUNDABLE fee just to look at it, and they had my pc for several days before telling me they thought they could retrieve my data for about the same price ($10 higher than the other vendor). Since the $100 was non-refundable (and would apply towards the cost to fix) I decided to go with Data Doctors - BIG MISTAKE. DD told me it would take 2 weeks to get my pc fixed - it took nearly a month and most of the updates I received were at my urging on wanting to know what the status of my case was? Once the month came and went they told me they could NOT fix my pc. I told them how dissatisfied I was with their service and they refunded me the $100, which was rightful due to all the time they had my pc and my status-finding efforts. That is the one good thing I could say. 2) I got a new pc (Sony Vaio) and inserted an adapter which I thought would fit okay (it fit into the above HP) but turned out it didn't. Again went to Data Doctors to get help removing it. The counter rep there was not helpful at all - he wouldn't even touch it - said I would need to leave it there for a $100 minimum fee and said they would try not to damage my pc(?) I was quite disgusted and I left. I realized at that point that Data Doctors is not there to help, they are in this business to MAKE MONEY, and they don't care about the customer (at least not this one). After I left Data Doctors I did a Google maps search and found another vendor close by - WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE! I walked in with my Vaio and within 15 minutes the owner had removed the adapter from my pc with very little effort and - NO CHARGE. I will never go to Data Doctors again. The other vendor gave me his best effort and set me on the road again, and I very much appreciated his time and his appreciation of my time in stopping by. Whereas Data Doctors never thanked me, they only wanted my money, and certainly not my respect or my loyalty.
