Geek Squad has improved since the last time I went when they were scrambling to have technicians and no appointment was respected. I had an issue with a laptop, made an appt. on line, went and discovered a better layout and customer service. We got helped right away, they identified the issue, they called an hour later to choose a part and the laptop was ready for pick up the next day. They had to change the hard disk. We did get the membership and it was worth it (hope I won't need it again, but it's a nice peace of mind) because we were told they had to change the battery as well. Unfortunately, they don't carry those (in the past, we had to get them from Fry's close by, but since it closed, we ordered those via Amazon, delayed shipment, not a fan) so we came back after a week to have it replaced. It was ready next day. So, hopefully this will help. We did get the help, some people working here are nice and give you good tips. More improvement overall. read more

I can not say enough positive comments about the help I received today. I was very frustrated trying to get my scanner to work. Mike, at the Geek Squad desk, tested my scanner and found that I was using the incorrect cable. I was floored by such great support and service. There was another gentleman that helped me also, I did not get his name, who took the time to show me a great scanner app for single documents. Came here when my Samsung ZFlip4 would no longer open fully after it fell off my kitchen counter. Samsung was booked solid for a month out and this was an authorized repair location, so I made an appointment for 7/24/23. I got there and showed them my working phone (front and back screens in perfectly functioning order) just the phone would not open fully. Charged me $300 for a "broken screen" as I didn't have a warranty. Didn't hear anything for 1 1/2 weeks, then received an email saying it's ready for pick-up. I went to pick up on 8/4/23 and couldn't believe what I saw. My phone was fully open but the front screen looked like it had liquid leaked inside and the main screen was all fizzy with nothing displayed. It was horrible!!! I asked what happened and they told me "the motherboard was defective". I told them it wasn't defective when I left it with them and they said their technician doesn't know until they open it up and there was nothing they could do to remedy the new issues. When I left my phone with them, the only issue was that it would not open fully but all screens and the phone functioned as they should. They refunded me and I left very upset directly over to Samsung at the Americana. Samsung took me as a walk-in, I told them what happened and that Geek Squad is listed as an authorized dealer on Samsung's website. They told me never to take the ZFlip or any phone to Geek Squad and to just come in as a walk-in as they have had to fix similar issues after Geek Squad destroyed other user's phones. They charged me the original price for the broken hinge and fixed the front and main screens as a courtesy for me due to the authorized repair vendor (Geek Squad's) mistake. This took them just 3 days and they did a wonderful job. Always go to Samsung, NEVER go to Geek Squad or Best Buy for your repair needs unless you want to receive your device more broken than it started. read more

I was having trouble installing an anti-virus program onto my Apple devices. I called and was told that the Geek Squad at the Burbank Best Buy would help me even though I had cancelled my Total Tech policy. They said that because I bought the anti-virus program from them they would absolutely help me. But when I got to the store, the Geek Squad guy refused to help and told me to watch a You Tube video. That is no way to treat a customer who had just bought a product from them! read more

I went in to get a cracked screen fixed. Gus was wonderful and it was a painless process. We had a couple snags regarding my AppleCare in communication between the Apple system and their system but they worked it out and I was very happy. I took my laptop to them to fix a battery issue and they did. They even gave it back to me a few days sooner then they thought the work would finish only problem is I didn't look to see if there are any damages to my laptop when picking it back up. They either hit or dropped my laptop and it's bent with a crack on the bottom left. It's been a month or two since I took it to them and I only use my laptop a few times a year so my blind ass didn't even notice until I put it on charge today and a few hours later I was walking and saw it from the side. It's sad that people think it's ok to damage other peoples property like it's nothing. Middle finger to everyone that does things like this and middle finger to everyone at the store that knew or knows what happen to my laptop. read more

They were very knowledgeable, professional and did excellent work. A couple of weeks ago I had an appointment with Darnell who set up a new Sony TV for me. I also had a follow-up visit from Jonathan to do some troubleshooting on the TV for a problem which did not show up for a few days after the initial TV set-up. Their support was excellent as well. Just spent three and a half hours waiting for a twenty minute repair. Told lie after lie, excuse after excuse from completely incompetent, inconsiderate sloths. One star for the manager who seemed to genuinely sympathize with me and was apologetic.. at the end of the three and a half hours when the damage was already done. I recently bought a computer at Best Buy for someone and signed them up for total tech Geek Squad coverage, and I am so glad I did. The computer techs and sales staff were great: helpful, polite, explaining everything, and making it easy to move from purchase to their downloading software on the computer, setting up email, explaining how to connect to home internet and understanding service coverage. For the computer set up, they took their time and did not rush us, and they patiently answered every question. I almost collapsed with the incompetence of this service. I cannot believe these people are still in business. Just a complete disgrace. 9 f--king hours. They left me hanging on my computer 3 times without resolving the problem. Jose was good. Assured me that Muhammad did the wrong thing with disconnecting on a printer issue without fixing the problem. Assured me that with printer issues the tech must call before logging out and declaring a fix.The first time I got an email from Muhammad saying hey " I fixed your printer sent a test page it printed" He lied never called to check. Second time another named Muhammad (not sure if the same one). With the notes clear on there, once again they logged off without fixing the printer. Again, Muhammad. The notes said never hang up without calling . They never called. I WASTED MY ENTIRE DAY ON THESE A-HOLES. THE SERVICE SUCKS AND I AM A PRIORITY MEMBER. NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER ,EVER, EVER, buy this service. This destroyed my entire day. I actually made an entire Corned beef from start to finish without any resolution. We signed up for a 3 year service agreement hoping to have local, reasonably priced IT services for our computers. We took a MAC desktop computer into Geek Squad at Best Buy near South Coast Plaza on May 4th. This was a business computer so we had a staff designer that was now without their key production tool. Someone called on Wednesday telling us it was repaired. I went to pick it up, only to find out without scheduling an appointment to pick it up I would have to wait 45 minutes. Not having that much time to burn, I went back to the office. We called the tech and were advised now that we needed to purchase a new hard drive, pay to backup all the data which we approved. On Thursday the 7th, the tech called, clarified some issues on the MAC and said they would call when it was ready. On Monday May 12th (a week after initially bringing in the computer) the tech called and said they were just wrapping up the back up and it would be ready on the 13th. I made an appointment for 11:30, went to pick up the computer. After waiting for 10 minutes even to be acknowledged for my scheduled appointment, I was told the computer wasn't ready..they were still backing it up (how long can a backup take???) and they would call when ready. It's now late on the 13th; haven't heard from Geek Squad so we will be without this business computer for 10 days, made two wasted trips to pick up the device and have lost so much money in delays and wasted time. When factoring in the soft costs along with their reasonably priced services fees, it's not inexpensive at all...I'd rather hire a $100/hr tech guy, get it fixed right away at my office and not lose all this time and effort. Geek Squad - get your process in order. And why don't you try setting up a higher priced VIP service level for those who don't have hours to waste? read more

Seriously... I just got another new camera from their amazing warranty. My clumsy ass had broken yet another Canon Powershot SD1400 IS. I brought it into Geek Squad for the millionth time (okay fine, it was the fourth time but I still felt like a douche). They called me up a few days later and told me I could come in for yet another free replacement. And it was just that easy. Again. I thought, "They're not going to let me buy another warranty. I've got to be black listed from ever being insured by them again." Wrong! They let me buy a new one with no issues and the girl behind the counter just laughed at me when I explained I should probably go for the cheaper 2 year warranty rather than the 3 year warranty because I had yet to make it past 9 months without utilizing my warranty and claiming a new camera (and new warranty). WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. We have purchased multiple plans through Geek Squad at this store only to repeatedly be told to basically screw off. I bought a new computer there, at the time they told me to add my old computer, which I bought there, to the plan. I did. When I brought the old computer in they said "oh, we can't fix those". WHY DID I PAY FOR THE PLAN THEN?! Next, for my business, I buy three smart phones there and am talked into the "Geek Squad" plan as opposed to the Sprint warranty because it has "in store replacement, loaner phone, etc..." Well, I end up cracking my phone, go in the store, am told "just go home and do it online". Ummm... I don't have a "Loaner" at home... "Oh, we don't do that anymore, you mail it in, just go home and do it." Ummm... my contract says in store loaner, but ok, whatever, I'm here now missing work, you're here getting paid. Do your job. After insisting for TWENTY MINUTES, he finally process my replacement. Next phone cracks, online isn't working. Come into the store. Ask for help, am told that she "doesn't do phones, I'm a computer repair specialist". I say, "Ummm.... you personally did phones about a month ago when we got them, aren't you also in a high position here working for GEEK SQUAD?!" "Yes, Geek Squad doesn't do phones, you need to go take care of this at home." I refuse. I PAY Geek Squad every month for a service, Geek Squad PAYS her to stand in front of the sign that SAYS "Geek Squad Mobile Phone Service". I LITERALLY had to argue her into HELPING me after she finally admitted SHE doesn't like dealing with phones because SHE has had to spend "hours with customers". WHO CARES, YOU ARE GETTING PAID! The poor customers are the ones spending HOURS with you NOT getting paid but PAYING for your crappy attitude and service. Two days later I'm trying to get an iphone, that I bought there and was replaced by Geek Squad ONLINE after once again going into the store for help and being told to "just go do it myself online". I come back because online is NOT working, Geek Squad prick sends me to where they SELL the phones because "no one at Geek Squad knows how to activate phones". First lie. I call him out on it because the Hispanic lady had, begrudgingly, done it on Friday, two days earlier. He then says, HE "Doesn't know how to activate it." I call him out on his SECOND lie as he personally has activated a phone for me before this store's Geek Squad decided, on their own, "They don't do phone service anymore." DESPITE what it says online, DESPITE what my contract says, DESPITE pointing out the sign INCHES from their face saying they do. Absolutely the rudest, lying, don't want to do their job, PEOPLE I have ever met let alone "professionals" I've ever had to interact with. This wasn't just one experience. I can count right now off the top of my head SIX TIMES we've dealt with the same crap from the same two people that work there because they talked us into this crappy contract that pretty much retains NONE of the value and services it offered when we signed on. HOW IN THE WORLD do you let people like this work for you? People who wear a shirt that says, Geek Squad, stand in front of a sign that says Geek Squad mobile service and just LIE to a customer's face REPEATEDLY because they can't be bothered "with phones." Nearly a year ago we had Nathanael Lewis of the Geek Squad out to deal with a major computer crash. Since that time our computer has worked perfectly. Several days ago I updated Window 10 knowing that my apps, files, photos were there but I had idea how to put things back in place, I am almost totally computer ignorant. I called Geek Squad, I had thankfully signed up last year for 1 year of service. I was absolutely thrilled when they told me Nathanael would be our technician. Nathanael was able to set our computer back up with everything in its place, download the apps that were gone, update everything necessary. Looking at my computer now its as if nothing had ever happened. Not only is he a computer genius but he also thorough, professional and personable. I would recommend Geek Squad and especially Nathanael Lewis. Definitely 5 star. read more

I just left Geek Squad in Burbank . I was so impressed with the great service and honesty I received from two people there . Their names are Johnny and Nilo . We brought in our 3 year old IPad that wasn't doing anything but had a black screen with a spinning wheel . We wanted to get a quote for them to look at it . Johnny greeted us and we explained that we just left Verizon ( which is where we purchased it ) and the salesman tried to reset it but wasn't able to . He then told us we needed a new IPad . Cheapest was $459.00 . Husband suggested we go to the Geek Squad just to get a quote for diagnosing the problem . So happy we did . Johnny said he would wave the forty dollar fee if his repair guy could fix it in a matter of minutes. He was pretty sure he could . He handed it to Nilo . In a matter of minutes Nilo came back with our IPad completely fixed ! I couldn't believe it ! I am writing this review on it right now as a matter of fact . Thanks so much to Johnny and Nico . Don't waste your time on getting the Geek Squad warranty because they just give you a run around after run around after run around. On May 11th, I found out my living room TV wasn't working. I made an appointment for them to come out for repair. They were supposed to bring the replacement part with them, they brought the wrong part with them and ever since that day until now, they gave me two appointments and never showed up or called to keep me updated with the situation. The part is supposedly on backorder and it's been almost a month without my TV and they don't want to replace my TV. They keep telling me that I need to wait until the part gets here so that they can repair it. They do not want to replace the TV. This is a bunch of BS. read more

Thieves and cooks! My mom was visiting and had her laptop open and on and plugged into the wall. My dog was excited to see her, so was running around the house and ran through the cord, sending the laptop crashing to the ground. She switched it off and tried to turn it back on, and it wasn't working. So, we took it to the Geek Squad to see if they could repair it. They charged us $200 just to drop it off and have it looked at. They called us a couple of days later and said it was the hard drive, and they'd need to replace it with a new one, which would cost an additional $60. So, we said ok. The next day, I went to pick it up, and they told me it was "just like a new computer". They were not lying. My mom logged on and found that ALL of her files were missing as well as all of the software she had installed. When she called to ask them why they hadn't transferred her files, they told her because she didn't explicitly ask for them to be transferred. She said, "Who in their right mind wouldn't want their files?", and the guy working there said, "No one." So, she said, "Then what am I missing here?" He told her if she wanted that, it would cost her more money. When I went into the Geek Squad in person, the woman managing the counter was so extremely rude and obnoxious to me, that I actually went to the manager of the entire Best Buy. Sadly, he was equally rude, if not more so. These people have no business being involved in anything related to provide a customer service. The Geek Squad is set up to take advantage of technologically challenged, IT ignorant people who, if they could give specific instructions on exactly what to do with the computer to fix it and restore it to exactly how it was working before it was brought in, would not be in need of something like the Geek Squad in the first place. They charge exorbitant rates and provide a piece-meal service, but ONLY if you explicitly ask, and then if you do, you will pay a pretty penny for it. It has been more than a month since this happened, and her computer is STILL not what it used to be, b/c she has had to re-purchase all of the previous software and take it to two other people to try to fix after the Geek Squad got their hands on it. I bought a Pioneer car radio for my 2005 BMW X3 and had Jeff from Best Buy's Geek Squad make the arrangements for the installation. He was, quite frankly, the best service person I have ever encountered. He ordered all the necessary parts and accessories, kept me appraised of when they arrived in the store, scheduled the installation at my convenience and then completed the installation perfectly and within the time period he told me. Not only that, but during the install, he called me several times to update me on his progress and to alert me of a small additional charge and got my approval before proceeding with the work. After the install he spent as much time as necessary showing me everything about the radio and its operation. Best Buy, you need someone like Jeff in all your stores! read more

I can't even give them 1 star. The worst customer service in my adult life. Not only do the employees not care about your defective product, I decided to speak to a manager, & guess what? He didn't care either. To explain briefly my situation, I bought a LG HD TV in Oct.of 2017. On Dec.30 I was watching TV, & all of a sudden the picture went off. Never thinking it was the TV, I called my cable company, & they couldn't get my picture back, so they sent a cable guy out, & he said it wasn't the cable, my picture is out. I did purchase the 5 year warrantee, & took it back to Best Buy. Instead of admitting they sold me a lemon, & give me another one, tbe Geek Squad derermined it was fixable, & it would take 2 weeks to get it back. Stunned, I asked if they would give a loaner, or at least let me rent one, that was a big fat no. Instead they gave me a link that I could updates on progress of my TV. So on Jan.1 I received a text stating it was being sent to the service center in Burbank. No update since. I called BB, to get status, & of course I was on hold for 10 minutes, & so I decided to go there in person. After waiting in line for sometime I spoke to an Geek Squad agent, & explained why I was there. He looked on his computer, & said my status is the same as mine. So I said, you mean that from Jan 1 to Jan. 8 the only status is they received it. Yes he said. I said I would like to speak to a manager. He called the manager, & I calmly explained everything to him, & not only did he not care, I mean he didn't even call the service center to get status. So I said, could it be that there are so many defective TV's they are working on that that's why it takes 2 weeks to get it back. He didn't say anything but, sorry. What's the difference between 6 years ago when they at least pretended to card, & now, so I Googled how much is Best Buy worth, & got my answer. 30 Billion dollars. That's why. When I take my business to Fry's in the future, there net worth won't change. The person that sold me the TV 2 years ago was great. I have a handicap, & can't lift, so I paid the extra $100 dollars to have them deliver, & set up, & that guy was great. So no grief there. Buy when it comes to the extended warrantee, they could care less about the fact that the TV was inferior, & take there time fixing the problem. So, just a heads up if you are ever in that situation. If they knew how much money I have spent in their store over these past 6 years, they would be embarrassed. JK, they could care less. I'm writing about the Geek Squad in Santa Clarita. Anabel came out to our house and what a pleasure it was. We are in our high 60's but she never let us feel like the idiots we are with computers. She sat down with my wife and talked her through everything until she understood what not to do or open on the computer. She set up shortcuts that saves my wife so much time. I can't say enough about her. Before we move to Oregon I am having her come over and go through my lap top. If the other Geek Squad people are like her, I defiantly recommend them. read more

They never cease to amaze and educate! I've lived in the area for five years and have depended on their efforts quite-a-bit through this tenure. They are considerate, have good follow-up but what really stands out, outside their Geeky knowledge, is that they give quality time to hear their customers and address their needs appropriately. i suggest you get your computer fixed at a local repair shop in burbank instead of here. there's tons. i went to get a quote on how much to fix my laptop for and without hesitation, the person working told me it wasn't even worth fixing and to get a new laptop instead. he/she didn't even bother looking up how much they'd cost or even thoroughly looking through the damage. in the end, i got a VERY ROUGH estimate of all the expenses, which came out to be more than half of a deal i got at a local repair shop. i hate to base such a low review on only one person that i dealt with that day but the service was unbelievable! read more

They are terrible. I have a TV I purchased last year from Best Buy and got the extended warranty. We had Geek Squad come out to look at it less than a month after purchase. It was making a loud popping sounds. Tech said this was normal. After a year our family and guest have made the noise an in-side family joke. Way to go Geek Squad. Recently the same TV developed a black vertical line which runs from the top of the TV down to the bottom and is about 4 inches wide. Geek Squad came out to looked at it over two months ago, ordered parts and attempted to fix the problem, only to make it worse (I now have a white and black vertical line running from top to bottom). When the so called tech could not figure it out, he told me he was going to leave the TV laying in the middle of my family room floor (mind you- this is a 65" plasma TV) until he returned back with another part (a part which would require ordering- could take up to several weeks for delivery- and then of course you have to schedule repair re-visit). I refused to allow him to do that and got a fair amount of attitude. He then request a baggy to put all the screws into since he was not incline to put them back into the TV. Once the part arrive, I recieved a call from Geek Squad to set up an appointment. We set the appointment which had a window of four hours for possible arrival of the tech. After waiting the four hour period, we recieved a call that the appointment would have to be cancelled since a part was needed to be ordered. never could get an answer if this was the same part that I thought they had ordered several weeks earlier. When the next appointment day came, again no tech arrival. When I called to reschedule, I got a frustrated young lady who stated quote, "I will get this resolved one way or another and by the way, if it makes you feel any better, My TV is broke at home as well." I get a call back from the young lady later that afternoon informing me that she had authorized a "Exchange". When I called the local Best Buy (where I purchased the original TV) to see what the next step(s) were, I was told that based on the fact that the manufacture (Panasonic) had upgraded this particular model (da- technology improvement year over year), I would have to add cash (over 1k) to the exchange in order to get a TV my original size. Other option was to go down a size (60") and lesser quality brand. According to Best Buy management, this was company policy. I will never as a consumer buy another product from Best Buy and will tell this entertaining story to friend, co-workers, family and anyone else who needs to know about how Best Buy treats their customers.
