I spent a couple weeks gathering all the components I've been eyeing and made the pilgrimage down to Micro Center (in Tustin) to take advantage of a great MOBO/Proc/RAM bundle. The last time I built a PC was in 2008 and at this point in my life, I just wanted an expert to help me get everything running and optimized. Gar was that expert. This guy knows his stuff and I couldn't be happier with my (first) experience at Helix. He runs the shop by himself and is clearly a lifelong PC enthusiast. But what really impressed me was how Garnik actually took the time to explain everything instead of just doing the work and handing it back. He didn't just slap on new thermal paste and call it done. He properly reapplied the paste, then noticed my fan configuration was all wrong and moved everything to the correct CPU pump headers and fan headers. He walked me through exactly what was causing the thermal problems and how he fixed them, then stress tested the whole system right in front of me so I could see it was running properly. Garnik was super knowledgeable, friendly, and got everything done way faster than I expected. Quick Fix & Fair Price for My MacBook…read more So I needed my MacBook screen replaced (and wow, I didn't realize how expensive Mac screens are ). I brought it here, and they were able to fix it for me at a reasonable price. The only thing was they didn't have the exact matching case color in stock my laptop is the darker gray, and they only had the lighter gray frame but they gave me a discount for that. Plus, they told me that once the darker gray came in, they'd swap it out for free. When I picked up my MacBook, I noticed I couldn't copy/paste anymore. Turned out it wasn't the repair itself, but some update my computer needed. I brought it back, and they reset everything properly so it worked again. Luckily, my computer was new so I didn't lose anything major, and they made sure it was running smoothly before I left. At the end of the day, I decided not to go back for the darker gray frame honestly, it didn't matter to me anymore. I just grabbed a sleeve, and it looks fine.
