Great sandwiches. I've had the cuban and the roast beef but my favorite is the meatloaf. My wife likes the brisket. Staff is always friendly. Service is prompt. Worth a stop if you are driving along Hood Canal on the 101.

Grilled Ham and Cheese

Ordered a Grilled Cheese and a Grilled Ham and Cheese. Definitely will go for the ham and cheese. Pickle was a nice side. Potato Salad is homemade and delicious.

The first time I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant was shortly after the birth of my first daughter. I brought her in as a newborn and enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich. Ten years later, while pregnant with my second daughter, I decided to revisit the restaurant with my partner, driven by nostalgia and a desire to try something new GUYS. I was truly impressed. A burger elsewhere is just a burger, but this one was absolutely exceptional from the first bite to the last. They prepared it exactly how I like it (no pink), and I appreciated that there was no judgment. The young man working there and the owner were very personable and genuine from the moment we arrived. The young man jokingly mentioned that a burger cooked without pink is "well done," not medium, which made me smile. It felt like the burger was made by someone I know personally. While that may seem odd to mention, I think we all have that one family member or friend whose cooking is so good they should have their own restaurant -- that was my experience at Gearhead tonight. The service was warm, the deck was comfortable, and the food was all fresh -- even the potato salad and pickles were perfect. Above all, the flavors of the burger were so thoughtfully crafted. I even asked my partner how a burger could be improved, and he mentioned seasoning, texture, sauce, and bun. Those were the key elements that stood out to me in tonight's meal. I highly recommend trying the F150 burger -- truly, I can't express how it made for one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. For ambiance: I love the trees by the deck. Each individual leaf is green but outlined with purple which is exactly how I would color a tree and it just made me really appreciate the added value of minor details in food and nature that really make life worth living.

Garden outdoor seating behind

Great place with wonderful, quiet outdoor seating behind it (or indoor seating, too). I had an incredible BLT and will definitely be back! I only wish I could have ordered a beer, too.

Perfectly done. Delicious!

Stopped here for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was the first day under new ownership. Chris (owner) and Tina and visiting sister greeted us with a warm welcome. There was good variety of menu items and all looks delicious. We settled on the daily special of house smoked brisket with homemade bbq sauce, amazing!!! Definitely be back for more!

Elk burger side view

I ordered the elk burger medium rare with potato salad, and I couldn't be more delighted. I probably could've gone more rare, but there was still such rich earthy undertones, that it I don't believe it deterred any flavors from getting across. 5 stars all around. Potato salad was a little mustardy, sweet and solid. They know what they're doing here.

Excellent service, friendly people, great sandwiches!…read more When I visited they were so busy that I had to wait 30 minutes to get my sandwich. But it was worth the wait! I ordered a Mr. Steph: turkey, salami, pepperjack, pepperoncini, lettuce, onion, mayo, mustard on country bread. The sandwich stood about 2-1/2" to 3" tall when it was lying down. And it tasted great! The country bread was very hearty. The crust was awesome. I had to work to bite through it. I loved it! They also have a small store that has all kinds of food items you won't find in a typical grocery store. I bought a round loaf of Greek Olive Bread that was also very crusty.

I feel like this place is a hidden gem no more. Which is unfortunate for locals who have enjoyed…read moretheir food for this long. Don't let this tiny place fool you, it delivers BIG on quality and flavor. They make their own bread, and their sandwich board is thoughtfully put together to enhance the flavor profiles of all the ingredients. I tried the RBB and the Italian. The most important item of a sandwich is the bread, the 2nd most important- the thickness of the meat. Well, the Italian came on a house-made semolina roll, and the meat was perfectly sliced paper thin. It was the best sandwich I've had since being back home in NYC. The roast beef with blue cheese and horseradish mayo was ridiculous. I will definitely be back when I am back on Whidbey Island... ANYWHERE on the island. This place is worth the drive. Also the prices are very reasonable. They also have a small market with a few aisles of curated goods. I grabbed some Whidbey Island canned tuna for later. Excellent spot, well done. Absolutely zero notes.

Absolutely outstanding deli sandwiches, perfect for a quick lunch stop while in Friday Harbor. I'm…read morenot usually a deli person, but I was blown away by this sandwich. Delicious, perfect ratios of ingredients, and very fresh quality. I got a "build your own" sandwich but they have a wide variety of pre selected sandwiches if you'd rather that they choose. I was here during a Saturday lunch rush so it was packed inside, but the employees moved FAST. Service was very quick and the employees were all super friendly. There are no tables inside, so I took my sandwich to a nearby bench. There are tons of places to sit and enjoy the views in Friday Harbor. I will absolutely come back here next time I come to FH.

Rely on tourist business. Not worried about returning clients…read more I ordered a Turkey Club on wheat and although the workers were hurrying, it was not as busy as it usually is on a weekend lunch hour. Turkey was great. One thin and narrow (1/2") slice of pre-cooked bacon was severely underwhelming). A thin layer of avocado spread(?) rather than avocado. Swiss fine. Mayo fine. Red onion fine. Two slices of bread that were not toasted...so essentially a turkey sandwich. I returned to ask about the correctness of the order and the woman behind the counter got chippy immediately stating that this is the turkey club and wrapped it up and handed it back without even long at it. I asked about the three slices of toasted bread listed on the menu. She said that the board is wrong and we don't do three pieces any more. I asked about the single piece of bacon and she wanted to hand me some more bacon. A $16 sandwich that wasn't as adversities and an unwillingness to make it right means we won't be returning.
