My second time here. First time I for the prime rib dip. It was excellent. On my second visit today I get the best and unique Philly I have ever had. I did not realize that it had BBQ sauce on it when I ordered it, I tend to be a purist and would have asked for it not to be put on. But OMG I am so happy it was there because it was SO good. Salty, a touch of sweet and spice with lots of brisket. It is a messy overflowing sandwich so I don't recommend driving up mount Walker while trying to eat it. You will likely go off the edge because you can not put the sandwich down! I will be back for more and trying other offerings. Place was super clean with an excellent vibe. read more

The service was pleasant, very welcoming. The ambiance was perfect, lots of reference to its name. We sat on the back porch and enjoyed our meal while admiring the gardens back there. Cute little deli along 101, just south of downtown Quilcene proper. Lots of sandwich offerings and super helpful staff. We grabbed a smoked brisket sandwich to split between us and while it looked on the small side, once split and munched through, it was just right for us! Crunchy onions, marinated but not too sweet brisket, toasted bun ..... just right for a snack before Hama Hama oyster tasting. Wouldn't hesitate to try any of their other sandwiches. The first time I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant was shortly after the birth of my first daughter. I brought her in as a newborn and enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich. Ten years later, while pregnant with my second daughter, I decided to revisit the restaurant with my partner, driven by nostalgia and a desire to try something new GUYS. I was truly impressed. A burger elsewhere is just a burger, but this one was absolutely exceptional from the first bite to the last. They prepared it exactly how I like it (no pink), and I appreciated that there was no judgment. The young man working there and the owner were very personable and genuine from the moment we arrived. The young man jokingly mentioned that a burger cooked without pink is "well done," not medium, which made me smile. It felt like the burger was made by someone I know personally. While that may seem odd to mention, I think we all have that one family member or friend whose cooking is so good they should have their own restaurant -- that was my experience at Gearhead tonight. The service was warm, the deck was comfortable, and the food was all fresh -- even the potato salad and pickles were perfect. Above all, the flavors of the burger were so thoughtfully crafted. I even asked my partner how a burger could be improved, and he mentioned seasoning, texture, sauce, and bun. Those were the key elements that stood out to me in tonight's meal. I highly recommend trying the F150 burger -- truly, I can't express how it made for one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. For ambiance: I love the trees by the deck. Each individual leaf is green but outlined with purple which is exactly how I would color a tree and it just made me really appreciate the added value of minor details in food and nature that really make life worth living. read more

Wow! What a find in the middle of no where! My husband and I took an afternoon ferry over to the peninsula Friday and happened upon Gear Head Deli just in time for a quick bite for dinner! I couldn't have been more surprised by the friendly service and really good deli sandwiches! It was kind of late and I half expected to get a thrown together sandwich as staff prepared to go home! Not the case at all! I felt like as much care was put into my sandwich as was put into the first of the day. I had the Cuban, and although not "authentic" it was delicious! I'm from South Florida and lived near many Cuban owned delis, but this was a wonderful offering. My hubby had the Elk Burger and he loved it, too. Although we didn't try the potato salad, others in the place at the same time gave it a major thumbs up. I would urge you, if anywhere near there at meal time, stop in and try them out! I ordered the elk burger medium rare with potato salad, and I couldn't be more delighted. I probably could've gone more rare, but there was still such rich earthy undertones, that it I don't believe it deterred any flavors from getting across. 5 stars all around. We lucked into this place on our way to Seattle and boy did we love our accidental choice! We had the Charger sandwich with turkey and this was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had in quite awhile. We also got the potato salad as our side and again, were not at all disappointed. We stopped here yesterday for a late lunch. I had the Ferrari and it was spectacular! I'm glad I don't live closer or I'd eat here every day. For the side I had the cole slaw and it was different, sort of tart and sweet at the same time. I'm not sure I've had slaw like that before. I'll try the potato salad next time perhaps. The only place to eat in Quilcene. The motoring theme is past cute, when you see the vintage gas pumps you are in the right place. What initially hooked me was the smoked turkey breast I smelled smoking on the deck. It was a staple in my fridge, kept my football playing son at the top of his game. But the sandwiches are the stars here. All named after cars, even the Prius ... meatless of course, is delicious. Don't expect elk burgers available everyday, but grab one if they got elk.
