On my second trip in, I chatted up the owner and learned they have only open for 10 days, and are still getting the business up in running. I wished him the best and promised to return. We ended up getting two items on this visit: Cheese Stick ($2.75) - Chewy dough stick about a foot long. The dough seems to be rolled in cheddar cheese and then baked, giving distinct cheese nuggets randomly dispersed throughout. It has good cheese flavor, kind of tangy. Due to the rain, perhaps, all the crisp on the actual dough is gone, so it's just chewy throughout with no skin. (4/5) Cowboy Croissant ($2.75) - Tiny puck, less than three inches across - wish they offered bigger ones! Sharp cheddar, bacon with pesto. Great flavors that complement each other well. The croissant dough tastes a little on the sweet side. Good lamination. (4/5) Pane d'Amore serves some pretty good pastries. We actually planned on heading over to the Seqium location the following day, but didn't realize it was closed on Sundays. Oh well, there's always next time!

The hand pies are the same difference as a turnover. They felt like love was a major ingredient in baking them. We shared the huge cookie later that day as a snack, and I couldn't eat my half, it was too much. My friend wolfed it down plus his half. When I was looking for the 'best coffee in town' I found a Yelp review by a coffee aficionado from Seattle. He said that this was the place! And it truly is. My favorite is the Cortado! Their in house roasts are very fresh and exquisitely done. They have great lattes and mochas, and if you're a coffee aficionado like me, you'll love the pour overs. In the back area is a comfy section with a couch and chairs. The main area has tables and a coffee bar for the solo flyer. Food fare is mainly local pastries, scones and muffins. My go to is the chocolate croissant, which accompanies my daily Cortado. Warning, this combo is known to both enlighten and create a vortex of energy which is a great start to your day! There are many regulars, where 'everybody knows your name.' I do appreciate cafes that use only pesticide free beans, and I've inquired and found this to be true at Essence. Enjoy the best in Sequim!!
