I made the mistake of trying to wash my car with a garden hose, in the sun, leading to a water spot disaster. I didn't know hard tap water can cause mineral deposits on cars that will actually eat into the clear coat over time and eventually be impossible to get out. Not many people realize how simple sprinklers can destroy their car's paintjob, thanks to our extremely hard, mineral infested tap water here in OC. I called GC Auto Detailing late Friday afternoon and explained the situation to George. He was already finished for the day, but had me come by his house to examine my car. Him and his assistant had never seen such a water spot disaster. His assistant asked me stunned "did you spray this with a garden hose or something?" And I was like "yeah, you're not supposed to do that?" George explained the urgency of the situation and was unexpectedly accommodating to my schedule, letting me come to his house again at 7am the next day (Saturday) to give my car a thorough wash and try to get the water spots out. Luckily they were able to get the water spots out of everywhere except one side trim piece, avoiding a disaster. George even polished all the surface scratches we could find out of my car, and gave me some good car washing tips. Him and his assistant taught me how to properly dry my car by spreading and dragging a microfiber towel in a straight line with no pressure on the paint, how to hand wash the roof of an SUV by standing on the rear tire, what types of water to use to minimize the risk of water spots, and washing/drying techniques to avoid water spots (avoid washing in the sun, washing/drying in sections, etc). My car came out looking stunning with 98-99% of the water spots gone, so my paint job was saved. I'd highly recommend George as he's an expert and really knows what he's doing. read more

Man, I've never had such a difficult time deciding to review a company, but I decided I needed to share my experience. I recently purchased a used truck and am in the market for somebody to detail the exterior to bring her back to her former glory. I reached out to several different detailers for pricing, including George at GC's. We scheduled a time for him to come by and take a look at the truck. George is a super nice gentleman. We had a great conversation and a few laughs while he looked over my truck. He gave a price that was consistent with the other prices I had gotten on the phone, so I decided to give him the business. He scheduled for a date 3+ weeks out, so I decided to try him out with a basic detail on my other car (2019 model), which included clay bar, wax, and interior cleaning. He showed up about 2 hours early on Saturday, July 4th. He and his worker got straight to work. After about 90 mins, I got a text that he was all finished, so I popped out front and took a quick glance at the car. I didn't spend too much time, as we were entertaining guests at our pool, but the car looked great. I paid him and they were off. I really wish I would have spent a little more time checking out the car before paying him. Monday I finally went out and investigated his job a little more. A very easy way to check a clay bar job is to put your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and run it over the paint. If the clay bar is done properly, the bag will slide over a very smooth paint finish. Mine felt like I was reading a Braille book. So, as to not jump to immediate conclusions, I got my clay bar out and clay barred half the hood so I could compare. Yup, just as I dreaded, my half was ice slick and George's half was bumpy. That led me to two possible scenarios: either he doesn't know what he is doing, or he intentionally did a half-assed job, hoping I was too dumb to notice. I came back to Yelp to reread his reviews. All but one were glowing reviews, so now I believe the latter of the two to be true. I texted George and asked him if he indeed clay barred my car, to which he answered "yup". I then said, "OK, please cancel the appointment for my truck". I expected him to ask why, or at least defend himself and try to keep the appointment. Nope. Crickets. I did receive an email later that day confirming the cancelation of the appointment, but not so much as a peep from him otherwise. This lack of response pretty much solidified my belief that he tried to get over on me. Tsk, tsk. It's really too bad because I really liked both of them, and I liked the job they did on the inside of the car, but I paid for a detail, not a basic wash. So, if you find yourself using GC's Auto Detailing, be sure to thoroughly examine the job he does BEFORE he leaves. read more
