Important to note, this is the GCH Craftsman Bar which is the offshoot of the GCH Craftsman Grill - but they are two separate entities! I know, I know, I'm being particular but really Disneyland should change one of the names to keep from confusing people. Logistics aside, I enjoy this poolside bar at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. It's called the Craftsman Bar because of the arts and crafts style architecture, fitting in well with the GCH. The nice thing is you can pick up breakfast, lunch and dinner items here on top of the obvious drinks served. They also have a number of NA cocktails which is fun, but also 7 beers on draft which is a win because they're all solid, craft brews. On the kids menu, they have an elevated grilled cheese - parmesan crusted! So fancy, though I do miss the lack Truffle-charred Cauliflower Grilled Cheese Sandwich they used to have here! It was freaking divine and I miss it! I'm going to start a BRING BACK CAULI CHEESE CAMPAIGN picketing at Disney. Overall, love coming to this bar when staying at the hotel. It's super chill and has great eats! it offers a meal in a more relaxing type of atmosphere, but trust that the prices are still on par for DIsneyland. ;) read more

After a few magical days at Disney and staying at such a great hotel, having mediocre service is the least you would expect. I will start with the positive. If you're staying at the hotel, pool service is phenomenal. If you want an item that's not on the pool menu, then they will send you to the bar to order. Hence the problem. You can go to the grab and go area (end of the walkway) and order all of the items from the menu. The pool menu is similar but missing a few items. (I learned this after the fact) I would avoid ordering from the bar entirely. Especially if you're lounging at the pool steps away. The bar area does not have a good set up for pool/hotel guests to order from the bar. I approached the bar, waited a minute or so to be addressed, and I was directed to wait in between the "ropes." After I walked a few feet to my left, I was standing there in between a small set of ropes, and I waited to be addressed by the same people? I ordered from a less than "Disney" employee, and he was also less then enthusiastic to take my order. I paid. I didn't know where to wait, how long, what to do. He handed me a plaque number, and he just told me to "keep checking back." It was so awkward. Again, we are guests there, lounging at the pool and have an open tab steps away. There is no designated area or way for them to notify you when it's ready. You just have to linger. I waited on the side by the ropes. No one seemed super happy to try and help this process, nor did anyone honestly seem like they cared. I tried to talk to a few people that ran by me, and they just ran by me. I saw a bag delivered to the back of the bar, (15+ minutes later) I asked, they gave it to me, and it was missing four+ ingredients in the salad, and nothing I asked and paid for arrived. At this point, I didn't feel comfortable going back up to the bar to ask for help so I asked for a manager. The lead from the Grab and Go area approached and was so kind. Gosh I wish I remembered her name, but I did thank the manager who addressed me, for her kindness. She refunded my salad, and she made a difference. A manager arrived shortly afterwards. She did agree that there is no specific set up for to-go orders at the bar. But hopefully, they can figure it out, because it negates the Disney experience to just have us "guests" figure it out because a few items are not offered just steps away. She offered to treat us to the character breakfast in the am. It was great, and our family appreciated the gesture, but in the future, I think we will avoid the busy bar and grill. My take away. Don't order to go if you're at the pool. Order from the pool menu only. The bar area and grill is open to the public, so maybe they treat guests differently? This was a first for us, but the bar and grill could do better. If you see a guest, hotel or paying food guest, that may seem lost or out of place, please help them. Don't make them feel less than. It takes a few moments just to make a significant difference. Your managers stepped in to help you fix something a few seconds of effort could. Keep the experience magical. You never know what it took to be there. read more

As it's been two years since my last review, GCH Craftsman Bar remains our favorite restaurant and bar on property. Whether we pop by for a cocktail at the bar, or decide to enjoy a meal on a whim, it's almost always available. The food and service remains excellent, we enjoy the rotating selection of specialty hot dogs on a monthly basis, and the bartenders are especially friendly. We were graciously given a 5 person table that they made specifically for us. Our waitress Gladys is possibly the best person we've ever met in our lives. She gave us drink refills without being asked, was so friendly and attentive and fun. She deserves so much!!! Someone give this woman a raise we loved her. We talked about her all night that's how great she was. Our group got a grilled cheese, a burger, lobster Mac, and a charcuterie pizza and it was all pretty good! GCH Craftsman Bar really surprised me! I really enjoyed the charcuterie pizza and the flat steak salad! The pizza was so flavorful and delicious. The bottom is slightly soggy but I honestly didn't mind. The flat steak salad complimented the pizza really well. The steak was mostly tender. The salad part was so refreshing! Just to note that the portions of these two dishes are huge! You definitely can share with your party family style. The service was awesome! I really enjoyed our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance is very interesting. We are basically right where the pool is so then there's other people running around and it can become distracting. This restaurant is located in the Grand Californian Hotel. We had to enter through the Downtown Disney Entrance by Sephora since there was construction at the DCA entrance. Upon entering the downtown entrance, the restaurant is to the left by the pool area. I made reservations on a Thursday for 4 people at 11:30am. We were seated right away and had a gorgeous view of the pool and bar area. The restaurant started getting busy around 12:30pm. The food came out fast and I really loved the Margherita pizza and sticky chicken wings. The chicken wings had a nice crunch to it and was coated with a sweet and savory glaze. The baked nachos was a huge portion but was just okay. I would pass on that next time. We shared all three food items between 4 of us and was plenty of food. Our waitress was super nice and sweet. Stayed at the Disney Grand and came here for breakfast since it's right on-site. We grabbed a poolside bar table at Craftsman Bar and Grill and ordered the lobster Benedict (because how often do you see that for breakfast?), the brioche French toast, and the American breakfast. I ordered a mango mimosa too. The lobster Benedict was the standout. Rich, buttery, and just a fun, unexpected dish. The French toast and American breakfast were fine, but nothing to write home about. The fruit on the side was fresh, which helped balance out the heavier items. The vibe was one of my favorite parts. It's outdoors, super open and breezy, with a view of the Grand Californian and the pool. It felt like I was on a tropical resort. There was some construction happening nearby, but they did a good job keeping it hidden. Didn't really affect the experience. Service was warm and friendly, which is pretty much what you expect at a Disney property. Overall, it's a convenient and relaxing spot to ease into your morning before heading into the parks. Came here for dinner and was able to make a reservation just a couple hours beforehand, which was convenient. The gochujang BBQ wings and the poke bowl were amazing--definitely the highlight. The salmon tasted fresh! I'm giving 4 stars because the service was lacking. We waited a long time for our server to take our drink order and ended up ordering our food at the same time. The seats and tables are also nice and follow the hotel's cabin feel. 2/5 for food. The food is better than whats in the park but at a cost that will break your wallet for sure. Everything on their menu is over $30. We got the steak salad which was $35 and the wagyu burger was $32. This place has been on my list of places I wanted to try at Downtown Disney. I went on a Sunday afternoon. I had such a great time! They had live music and I felt like I was on a tropical vacation. Such great vibes!! I ordered the flat iron steak salad. The steak was cooked to perfection, exactly how I ordered. There was a good amount of avocado which I appreciate that they didn't skimp out. It could've used a little more of the toppings. The staff were extremely nice. Our server did take longer to get back to us on our refills. I will say it was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon! The Disney hotels dining area is really fun with a bunch of restaurants and live entertainment. There's even a warm comfy fireplace in the Grand Adventure hotel. The piano and singer at Craftsman Bar were amazing. The singer sang some frozen sings and I couldn't help but sing along. Her voice was so pretty. She sounded like the actual singers of the original songs. Will definitely be back just to listen to them. What a wonder dinner I had with the BEST entertainment. There was another duet in the Grand Adventure hotel and they were just not good at all. It was like night and day with the two different duos. The Craftsman bar duo were so pleasant to listen to. It's a gorgeous area near the pool where you can sip a cocktail, grab a pizza, or even try an entree like fish and chips. The menu is pretty diverse to meet both the needs of anyone in your party, but also accommodate food allergies or dietary needs (vegetarian). When I saw the Forest mushroom and impossible sausage pizza on the menu, I knew I had to book a reservation (available 60 days out through the Disneyland app). I was not disappointed and there was plenty to share! The pizza could easily feed 2-3 people, so bring both an appetite and friends/family. There is a full bar, so if you don't see a beverage on the menu you like then request your drink of choice. I enjoyed both a cocktail on the menu, and my usual go to - a dirty vodka martini. I love the new location as it goes on to the Grand Californian pool deck. When we were there - they had live music which added to the atmosphere. We didn't have reservations and were sat there bar which was totally fine. I enjoyed the snack mix that was provided. We ordered nachos and a pizza. The nacho serving size was huge! We shared these items amongst 3 people and still have leftovers for the nachos. I definitely prefer these ones over the ones at Lamplight Lounge in the park. read more

We've been here several times over the years and watched the changes to this Disney mainstay. The ambiance is great. Nice to sit and relax with a beer or glass of wine. We've seen the decline of patrons over the last year or so at night. We ate there last night and were part of the few at 9 pm. We think the problems are two things the food and lack of TV's. People assume with the name Craftsman's Grill in the name it's more of a sports bar theme. Hearty food with a great selection of food and beer. Also the possibility that it's a sports bar too. With two TV's inside the bar area that thought goes away and could be a turn off. As for the food. You need a good solid meat dish like a steak or ribs. Even the pizzas lack a solid meat option. The menu, as is, is okay but needs something hearty and with TV and sports it could change the dynamics of the restaurant. So add TV's this spring. Alternatively change the name but still add some meat. read more

Love the sweetness of this hidden place in the Grand Hotel. It was our first time here and I was blown away. Service was spot on. Crowds were minimal. It was a nice quiet break from Disney and its counterparts. We ordered the gluten free pizza and boy WHAT A TREAT. The crust on that baby was mouthwatering. I could'd get enough.
