I had been planning my Disneyland lunch all week. I had been on TikTok doing my research, watching videos, making preparations, and fully convinced I was going to have roasted chicken and vegetables. I had the whole meal planned out in my head! Then I got inside Disneyland and somehow ALL that information left my brain. I could not remember what restaurant had the roasted chicken, and now it was getting close to lunchtime and your girl was HUNGRY.River Belle Terrace was the closest restaurant to me, and honestly, I've always been curious about this place, so I figured... why not?! Well, they did have chicken... but it was NOT roasted. It was fried! But let me tell you something -- this was not your ordinary fried chicken. It was seasoned with so much flavor, and there were little specks of herbs all over that crispy crust. I've never had fried chicken quite like this before, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had! Of course, I tried to remove as much of the batter as possible because I was attempting to be responsible. It was served over mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans and heirloom cherry tomatoes topped with a lemon dressing. The combination was SO good. Honestly, this ended up being one of the best meals I've ever had at Disneyland. And because apparently one side dish wasn't enough, we also ordered the cornbread. It comes with cinnamon butter, and WOW... that butter is decadent! Definitely not the healthy portion of the meal, but absolutely worth it. My best friend ordered the hummus plate with feta, bell peppers, carrots and cucumbers, drizzled with a lemon herb sauce. It was so fresh and refreshing, especially on a Disneyland day when you've already been walking around like crazy. Our server was amazing, which made the whole experience even better. But honestly, my favorite part was just sitting outside on the patio for a while. We got to relax, enjoy our food, watch people walking around Disneyland having their special day, and just REST for an hour. Sometimes that little break in the middle of a Disneyland day is exactly what you need. I came in looking for roasted chicken and somehow ended up discovering one of my new favorite Disneyland meals. I will admit that I underestimated this establishment. In all the years that I had a magic key or annual pass, I rarely if ever ate here. I imagine it was likely because, when I ate there, the food was mediocre. With so many delicious dining options in the parks, I didn't feel the need to try again. Even though I gave up my magic key late last year, I heard that they overhauled their menu and that the new items, although eclectic, were tasty. Since I was back in the park, even though I was skeptical, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did; it did not disappoint! I came with my husband and 2 friends, and we shared the creamy dill, pickle, and onion dip to start. My husband and I then shared the plant-based meatloaf while my 2 friends shared the fried chicken plate. The cream dill, pickle, and onion dip was delicious! The chips are clearly homemade and were nicely fried and crispy. They paired perfectly with the smooth and creamy dip. If you're a pickle fan, this dip is a must-try! For me, the fried chicken was only ok. I found that the meat was too lean, and the sauce underneath made the bottom soggy. I personally would rather have the fried chicken at Plaza Inn. On the other hand, the plant-based meatloaf was delicious! Tell me why this is some of the best meatloaf I've ever had! I never thought plant-based meatloaf could be tastier than regular meatloaf. It was perfectly seasoned with a slightly spicy kick. Honestly, if I didn't know it was plant-based, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The accompaniments were also tasty. To end the meal, we shared a pumpkin crunch cake. I'm usually not a big pumpkin fan because I don't like nutmeg (which is often included with pumpkin flavors), but I enjoyed this cake. Not sure if they went light on the nutmeg or if it's just not in there, but I would get it again. All-in-all, I was pleasantly surprised by several of the menu options, and I would definitely eat here again. This is still my least favorite restaurant at Disneyland. I only made reservations because this was part of the Fantasmic package. The Fantasmic package has its own separate menu. My friend ordered the fried chicken plate with the pumpkin crunch cake for dessert. My girlfriend had the pot roast with the pumpkin crunch cake for dessert. I had the vegan impossible meatloaf with plant based creme brûlée for desert. I asked the server if I could do something else because the appetizer only had one non vegan option which was the cornbread. He gave me the celery and carrot sticks. To my surprise, the veggies were fresh. It took 2 hours for our food to come out. We watched other families who came after us eat and leave before we even had our food. We were only 3 people. For $64, I got a small piece of the impossible meat with some veggies. The pot roast and the chicken were small portions as well. Their food was very salty. When we came in, we did see a large party very unhappy to the point where the chef needed to come out to speak with them. We waited so long that we ended up asking for our desserts to go. The server even had the audacity to ask us why we wanted it to go. Well sir we waited two hours for main entree. It was very crowded in here. I don't understand how other families with larger parties who came after us still got their foods before us and left before us. I am not sure what I was expecting coming back here. River Belle was exceedingly terrible before. Yes, it has improved since, but that was a very low bar to clear. Last time we ate at this restaurant, it was so bad that none of us wanted to stay at Disneyland after. And while we still remained at the park after our latest dinner, I don't think any us were happy with what we ate. First and foremost, everything we ordered that night had that dry sheen that comes from sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. Our food had been cooked, plated, and then sat long enough for all the sauces to congeal and set into place before being brought to our table. It was extremely obvious and a bit gross, especially considering that it felt like we waited a bit too long for our food after ordering. I opted for the Impossible Meatloaf. The protein itself was fine, with a nice texture and taste. But the tomato glaze suffered from that lengthy wait under the lamp, causing it to become thin to the point where the whole entree was dry. And the tomatoes that were part of the 'roasted vegetables' side brought an unwelcome acidity and sourness to my dinner. My wife had the Chicken Pot Pie Soup which suffered the most from that heat lamp. You could see where the crumpled biscuit on top sat upon the dried dome of her soup, unable to break through and sink into the liquid. She ate her meal with her typical shoulder shrug and accompanying, 'meh'. Our son ordered the Blackened Fish, a dish he's been ordering whenever we eat anywhere at the park. This iteration he found to be dried out, flakey, and probably the worst version of fish he's had in about half a dozen places we've eaten at Disneyland. He did like the chips, though. And our daughter had the Kids' Menu Mac & Cheese which looked and tasted like it was formulated for a juvenile detention center. She ate very little of it and stuck to her orange, milk, and candy we brought with us. Also on the table was the Pork Chop, which my mother was very much looking forward to, but she ended up eating less than half of. It had been cooked to the point where the protein had broken down to almost mush. The sear on the outside couldn't save it, the texture was just too off-putting. In the end, River Belle Terrace was almost as disappointing as it had been the first time we came here. This place is, without a doubt, one of the worst restaurants to eat at here in Disneyland. There really needs to be a top to bottom refurbishment or the horrible decor, slow service, and god-awful menu. River Belle sits on prime New Orleans Square real estate next to Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans; there is no excuse for how tacky and disgusting it is here. With a raised view of the Rivers of America, there are actually quite a few nice options if you're looking for a good place to rest and enjoy lunch ... just make sure that lunch is one you brought with you from home. Value - Will you walk away satisfied?: * Every place in Disneyland is relatively over priced; the trick is to find food that will make you not want a snack two hours later, despite what you pay. Typically, paying around $15 per person is what you should expect, but still have a filling meal. Costs here top out between $25-$30 a person on average. At other more expensive spots at the Magic Kingdom, that usually gets you enough food to share with a loved one. The only spare food you'll get here is what you bag up to take home to your dog. In no way is River Belle worth the cost. Kid Factor - Is there entertainment for the young ones?: * * (and a half) River Belle Terrace lies at the nexus between Adventureland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square. There is no in-house entertainment and Disney characters generally stick towards the center of their designated lands. You might catch the occasional Barber Shop quartet or Pirate walking by, but that will be about it. What this place does have, however, is a great view of the Rivers of America. Aside from the spectacular scenery, the passing Mark Twain steamboat, and the Columbia, you can also watch Fantasmic if the show is playing. While at Disneyland, I decided to eat at a dine in restaurant for the experience. The staff from the hostess to the waiter were nice and attentive but I wasn't impressed with the food. For the price, I expected more. The kids meal my daughter ordered lacked in presentation and looked like standard fare we could've gotten at a take out counter. I ordered the blackened fish plate, and it also arrived lacking presentation. I admit, the fish (salmon) was juicy and flavorful and the accompanying salad was tasty, but the portions were small. The salad was only three pieces of red cabbage and sparse greens. It seemed the chips were the majority on the plate, reminiscent of take out counter vibes. Pairing with rice or mashed potato would've made it a substantial meal. If this place can give larger portions to equal the prices with presentable plating, then this would be an optimal dine in location for the staff was spot on and the ambience was clean, friendly and bright. read more

Lemon Caper Shrimp - 4/5 This dish has been on the menu for a while. It still is very good. The pasta was prepared al Dante and the shrimp was plentiful. The Lemon flavor was light. From other reviews, I would have thought the flavor of lemon would be more prominent than what I experienced. That being said, I still enjoyed this past. Even though the sauce from this batch was very light on lemon flavor, you still can taste lemon and it was nice and creamy. The shrimp was slightly overcooked. It was not firm and tender. That may be due to the volume of shrimp that needs to be prepped to serve the days customer volume. The shrimp was still good and did not take away from the overall goodness of this selection. I would order this again. Impossible Meat Loaf - 5/5 This veggie meat loaf was very good. It was prepared perfectly and if I didn't know any better, it tastes like a very tender piece of beef meat loaf. The flavor was very good, and the veggie bedding was excellent. All the veggies were seasoned perfectly and cooked to the correct tenderness. I would order this selection again. They have a variety of Southern inspired American style menu items, including a vegan option for the hubz. The best thing about this place that it's pretty easy to get a reservation here even on the day of. The restaurant is pretty spacious. It has very old southern vibes. The cast members here are very nice and were very attentive. We had a little one and they were all super kind to him. There is a kids menu as well as an adult menu. You can also purchase alcohol here for dining. I got the fried chicken plate and have to say it was pretty mediocre. The portion was pretty small. I feel like this restaurant used to give out large portions, but maybe something's changed. My husband got the pork chop and it was also just all right. Nothing memorable. We got the shrimp plate for our kid. It came with three pieces of shrimp. We also chose the seasonal veggies and fruit. It came with green beans and three orange slices. When we try to order the Dasani water bottle, they said they didn't have any but we're able to give him a to go cup with a straw. Highly recommend booking reservations through the Disneyland app prior. If they're accepting walk ups, you can partner with the cast member at the podium or join the waitlist on the app. You'll be notified when the table is ready via text. Once you get the text, you have 10 min to return to the podium to be seated. Service: Everyone was very attentive and kind! I wasn't able to catch everyone's names, but shout out to my server Matthew! I was checked on a few times, my water was consistently full, and empty plates removed. Brunch: I ordered the Big Belle Sandwich and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding. The Big Belle Sandwich is HUGE! You can share this between two people. It contained Nashville hot chicken, brisket mac and cheese, house made slaw, and served with house fries. I was not expecting this to be stacked. The Nashville hot chicken had a nice spicy kick to it. The brisket mac and cheese was creamy, but I prefer a bit more brisket. The bread in between each layer made the sandwich even more filling. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful. If you're able to sit inside, you're in a for a treat because the decor and walls are just so pretty. I got the Big Belle Sandwich for our visit and I think that was the right choice. It's their signature and the sandwich had a bit of everything. The chicken was super crispy and balanced by the mac and cheese. I'm not a fan of coleslaw so I did take that out, but the sandwich made my tastebuds sing. I think during our day, we might've entered during a shift change, so our food took about 45 minutes to come out. If you're a key holder, definitely worth the visit. When I went to Disneyland on a very hot day, all I wanted was to go to an air conditioned inside restaurant. When my family and I booked the reservation it said "Inside seating" so we were hopeful. We got to the check in stand outside, and they said they currently have no seats inside even though we booked inside specifically. They ended up seating us outside in a poorly shaded area. As we sat and waited, we saw other people who was a walk in be seated inside. We asked a few more times to see if they could move us and each time it was a no. We could clearly see inside from where we were sitting and there were a few spots open. Not only were we dying of heat, but the food was also not the best. We ordered a kids shrimp, kids chicken tenders and an appetizer which was cheese sticks. The shrimp only came with 4 shrimps and they were so tiny. Every bite was just plain nothing, cause it tasted like water and no seasoning. The Chicken tenders didn't taste cooked and the cheese sticks had hard cheese. The Burt ends pasta dish was pretty good 7/10 and the fried chicken with mash and green bean was even better 8.5/10 (tip: ask for extra mustard. It's so tasty!) The vibe itself was dated yet charming. They could definitely use some updates like new flooring and get rid of the old carpet. All in all I'd recommend!! We really enjoyed our meal here for dinner. The ambiance and decor inside is beautiful. The wait staff is attentive, but almost too attentive, as if they just want to get you out of there as quickly as possible (which I'm sure they are). But on to the food...I had the BBQ burnt ends pasta and loved it. My partner also loved her dish of the Cajun shrimp and grits. We also got the deviled meatball skillet which was delicious and a good appetizer. The presentation of the food was also elegant. In a park with lots of mostly subpar fast food, it was so refreshing to have a sit down meal that was decent at the end of the night. I highly recommend River Belle terrace. It is still by reservation or walk-up, but I do recommend a reservation in advance if you snag one. I got to sit outside with a nice view of the river across the way. The soup was perfectly savory and creamy, and was a fairly large portion that could easily be shared with another person. The blackened fish was also a good dish and a good portion for one person. Made a dinner reservation on a whim. Hubby was craving shrimp and grits and was glad to have found it on their menu. We arrived 5 minutes late but they checked us in promptly and were seated right away. It wasn't busy so lots of tables available. Tables were a little scrunched together but still comfortable. We ordered the kids' Mac and cheese, fried chicken and shrimp and grits plus the blueberry cobbler and Mississippi mud cake. Wow, we were impressed at how quick our meal arrived at our table. I loved the flavors of the friend chicken with the apricot-mustard bbq sauce together. Portions were the perfect size where I didn't feel super stuffed. Sitting outside is perfect on a nice day, you do have to request patio seating. I had the pork chop it was absolutely amazing!! Our server was also very hospitable. My husband had the shrimp pasta and my kiddos had chicken strips and Mac and cheese. There was nothing left on plates. read more

We showed up 30 minutes early for our reservation and they still sat us right away -- by the windows, no less! Big win. I went for the Apple Pie Roll Pancakes. Flavor-wise they were fine, but the cream they came with? Pure perfection. Like, I could've eaten a whole bowl of just that. My friend ordered the blueberry pancakes, which looked gorgeous but she said leaned a little dry. The real star here is the vibe and the service -- super friendly, relaxing, and such a nice break spot inside the park. Our daughter surprised us with tickets to Disneyland to celebrate our wedding anniversary, which was where we had our honeymoon after we got married 30 years ago. 30 years later, it was a blessing for my wife and I to celebrate 30 years of being life partners with the two blessings God bestowed us, our kids, joining us. Besides tickets to the Happiest Place on Earth, our daughter surprised us with reservations and a 3-course meal at River Belle Terrace (RBT). Based on our first time dining here, I'm giving it 3.5 stars for good ambience, a couple of delicious aspects from our 3-course meal, and quality customer service from our waitress. River Belle Terrace is a restaurant that can only be visited if you have a ticket to Disneyland. My daughter made the reservation, so not sure if they accept same day walk-ups. RBT can be found in New Orleans Square, across from Tom Sawyer's Island, and it's a short walk to Pirates of the Caribbean. From what my daughter told me, RBT is the prime spot to watch the Fantasmic water show, so reservations are imperative. Our reservations were for 7:40pm, but we checked in at 7:20pm, the lady took my daughter's name, and she was contacted via cellphone when they were ready for us. The outside of the restaurant looks like an old school Southern mansion and when you enter, it feels like you've been teleported to what I picture an upscale Southern restaurant would look like. There is floral decor all over their walls, flowers intertwined on their chandelier light fixtures, pink and light blue throughout, and stained glass windows above the main dining room entryway. There is outdoor and indoor seating with the prime spots to watch Fantasmic being the outdoor seats closest to the water. I forgot the name of our Latina waitress who wore glasses, but she was one of the reasons for my high rating with her friendly and professional demeanor and quality customer service. Our daughter booked the Fantasmic dining experience at RBT to celebrate our wedding anniversary and she was so kind to do that for us. To be completely transparent, this dining experience costs $64 per person. For me, I think the cost is worth it because it comes with a choice of a starter, a choice of an entree, a choice of a dessert, and a choice of a non-alcoholic beverage. I wish my daughter had asked us what we preferred because I would not have wanted her to spend that much money and would have been okay eating at one of the chain restaurants in Downtown Disney. What is really cool about the Fantasmic dining experience is that you get tickets for prime viewing of the Fantasmic water show. Unfortunately for us, our tickets were for the 10:30pm showing, which was too late for us. I liked that this dining experience had multiple choices for the different meal categories. For my starter, I chose the cup of chicken pot pie soup. That was the best part of my entire meal. Make sure to pick it because I'm confident you won't be disappointed. The soup was flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the biscuit added to the deliciousness. For my entree, I chose the buttermilk fried chicken, which also comes with buttery mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, coleslaw, and apricot-mustard BBQ sauce. The chicken was okay, the vegetables were undercooked, I liked the coleslaw and the BBQ sauce, and I thought the tastiest thing were the mashed potatoes. For my dessert, I picked the house-made pudding, which was vanilla pudding, sticky toffee cake, and candied pecans. I enjoyed the pudding and thought it was a good ending to our meal. Our daughter really made us feel special for our wedding anniversary with tickets to where the start of our marriage began and to a really cool dining experience that had several positives. If you're Disney fans like my family and I, being able to watch Fantasmic while dining at River Belle Terrace is something that other Disney fans would love. read more

Oh man the soup was soooooooo good! Exactly what I needed!!! Chicken pot pie soup and as the waiter suggested... a little dash if tapatio was surprisingly yummy: ate have that way and the other half without. First time having brunch at this place. Ordered the Gingerbread Pancakes with Eggs and Freshly Brewed Joffreys Coffee. The eggs, bacon, & coffee were fantastic. Can't say the same for the gingerbread pancakes. The sauce wasn't that too and the pancakes didn't tasted well. Definitely a miss. Good and quick service. We wanted to have a set down dinner on our last day at Disneyland. We couldn't decide where and we just happened to pass by River Belle and so glad we stopped and put ourselves in the waitlist. We didn't expect much when we came but was surprisingly surprised of how delicious their food is. The teenagers approved of the food. You know it's hard that is. LOL. We loved everything we ordered. We finished all of it even though we been snacking all day. The service is amazing. Our server was so nice and patient as we took our time to order. The inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. The great thing is that they have AC. You know how hot it can get in an August night. If you are in Disneyland, try this place out. If you get a dinner reservation..I think you can request to be outside so you can watch the Fantasmic show in their outdoor dining. read more

This was a great meal at the park. Inside Disney land. Service was very friendly and quick. I really enjoyed the pot pie soup, so yummy! I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pot pie soup was. My husband had the fried chicken plate and he enjoyed his meal as well. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Disneyland food is usually always really dang good. I wanted to try a new restaurant today and river belle it was. The breakfast easily fed 2 people. All the carbs from the Nashville hot chicken had me in a food coma the whole day. It was bad lol. I got a chance to try the shrimp and grits later on in the day. It was good.
