I have had nothing but bad experience at the unit 7642-7644 S Normal Ave that is rodent infested and I have been refused service because I declined to renew my lease and also they have failed to come out and fulfill any service request . Even when my refrigerator was trying to go out they cancelled my service request as manager cancelled. They treat the inner city units and tenants badly and I have paid my rent every month faithfully in the amount of$1250. Kyle Hanley has threaten to put me out because of the fact I said I will have the repairs fixed and rodent issue address at the expense of my own funds and deduct it from the tent and they threatened to put me out and mind you im expecting and due anytime and not to mention the smell of dead rodents in the cabinetry and walls they refuse to address. This has been a disaster and they have cause agony and stress on me and my family. I hope and pray noone else goes thru this and I have photos of proof if anyone reading this think im falsifying. DONT RENT from them this location has bad infestation . The entire property is rodent infested and all tenants have complained about this this building has soo many fines they are extremely close to being closed down due to city ordinance I put in a service request and they said someone would be out Aug 13 between 3-5 they lied and said they came out and laid down mouse traps and fixed my door repairs upon sending images that no work was done they never followed up as to why they falsified that the repairs were addressed . If i put in a service request I should not be booked a new appointment without speaking with me in which they did anyway after calling Kyle Hanley and he was giving me a hard time and was not helpful. GC realty has took over the building since Nov 2018 1 month after I moved in and has not addressed not one issue that tenants have made. Not even the squirrels that was on the roof the next door neighbor said they were scratching at her window and screens to try and get in if anyone would like images of how they treat the units or the back feel free to email me at shayentourage81@ gmail.com to have them sent to you to show you proof of why you should not spend your hard earned money at this unit I refuse to let anyone else be took advantage of and yes I have seeked legal counsel for this realty as they have been discriminatory and violated many of my tenant rights and i still pay my rent I have receipts for proof of no missed payment they are very rude and racist and if your a minority in the inner city they treat you horrible. Noone deserves to live in infestations and inhale the stinch of dead rodents that they refuse to come out and service and make me wait to a time they booked to address my concern. We al deserve fair housing like any other race and paying clients GC is only replying to me on here to clean this up and appear professional and make themselves look good you can call the City of Chicago and they will tel you how many fines they have incurred and violations for these issues proof is in the documents and images . I am so happy with the services provided by GC Realty that I almost want to keep them my little secret. But I love these guys so much, I want to support the growth of their business in any way I can. I have been a small-scale investor/landlord for almost 20 years. For 15 years, I was a DIY landlord. So, I know what it takes to do every part of the process. I have done higher-end multi-units in Wrigleyville and Ravenswood to Humbodt Park (with gang wars and shootings), to Section 8 in Elgin and Bartlett. I was blown away at how much I have learned from them in the past 4 months. I am simply giddy with joy. About 5 years ago, we decided to outsource our property management and leasing. I did extensive research and called references. The legwork didn't help me. The first company was so bad, we fired them within 6 months. The second company was great in the beginning, but when our portfolio manager left the company, we realized that she was what made it great, not the company. The company didn't have systems in place to ensure excellence. After she left, her replacements would let non-payment slide for months and months. It would take them 6 months to lease a unit and months to get repairs done. With GC Realty, things are done so fast! We recently purchased 3 distressed SFH within a month of each other. GC helped broker the purchase, manage the rehab and find the tenants. So far, we leased 2 of the houses before the work was complete and it looks like we will do the same on the last house. Usually doing 1 rehab is stressful enough, but working with GC, even doing 3 at the same time was fun. The turnaround time to completion was fast, they did high quality work, and the costs were significantly lower than what we had experienced in the past. They are smart, knowledgeable, experienced, fun, great human beings, fast, responsive and they have a good team in place with systems to support consistent processes and services. If you are an experienced investor, you will recognize their value instantly. If you are a new investor, working with them will help you deal with the fear most new investors experience. They also manage to strike the perfect balance between providing advice based on their extensive experience and respecting our strategy and preferences. They are also investors themselves. They have skin in the game. They have their own portfolio and understand what is important to investors because they know first-hand what is important to them. I will never rent here again. They had nothing written in the lease that explained parking rules. They did not have lights outside for the whole first half of my living here. Overpriced for ZERO amenities or appliances of any kind on our property. There are NO security measures of any kind (including cameras, regular tow patrols, visits to the property, etc.). I highly doubt they background check these people considering my neighbor was evicted a week after I moved in during a drug bust. They don't have any on-call management or assistance on week nights or weekends... totally unacceptable considering how many issues occur on your property that seemingly never get the attention they deserve. This company is avoidant and negligent until something happens that negatively impacts them. I never heard from anyone before leaving my third bad review on Yelp that finally got their attention... but my calls, texts and emails didn't? What does it take for the company to have some regard for it's tenants? I cannot wait to leave here and never give them my money again. During my time here: I had my car wrongfully towed. I had my tires slashed, as well as my boyfriend's tires. My boyfriend's car was wrongfully towed. I got locked out of my unit with no assistance from the company. I really hope that after this nightmare of an experience, they have the decency to give me my security deposit back, after all the cost of damages and tow fees, that's the least they could do. read more

Edited: Texting and emailing causes nothing but confusion and it is better to have a phone conversation when trying to resolve any type of complaint. Not just with GC Realty but in general with any company. I know this first hand as Debra Brown from GC Realty reached out to me when she realized I was becoming frustrated. She and I had an in depth conversation regarding some work that needed to be done in the single family home we rent. Debra was professional, and listened to me without interruption which led to resolution as to what was needed to be done to satisfy our needs as a tenant. I offered her 3 business days to find a solution at the end of business on Friday and she stated she didn't need that much time, and executed a plan of action by early Monday morning. We love the home we are renting and would like to re-sign our lease when it expires in a year. Her swift action definitely helped us believe we wouldn't need to stress that we would be packing our belongings after a one year lease. Moving is a pain in the rear end and although our plan was to buy a home when our lease is up, the reality is we don't want to move (even to buy) in a year if we are settled and enjoying the home we live in. It is due to Debra's diligence that we can exhale and look forward to enjoying a few more years in the house we call home today. read more

We just got off a call with Mark and we looked at and said to each other: cannot believe he is so going out of his way to help us! We have an investment property in Chicago that has gone bad. We are remote passive investors and didn't know how to get us out of the mess, so we were very stressed. Vendor came to check frozen pipes in kitchen He was great I've never had a problem with the actually vendors that GC sends out. It's management part that is horrible. the vendors are always honest about the issues with the apartment and what needs to be done. They sent over a vendor to check out frozen pipe in the kitchen nothing was resolved. they said they would plug in heaters to try to unfreeze the pipe but I refused because the unit can not support heaters being plugged in without the lights going off And they were not going to pay my light bill for having so much stuff plugged in they left heaters running in the unit below to see if that would unfreeze the pipe but the vendors always keep it 100% with us on how the place we are living is has so many issues that they can't even fix . The water became unfrozen the next day. they don't know how that house passed any inspections. It's a stressful situation hearing this from people that are suppose to be fixing the problems read more
