While Xcel took quite a while to process the rebate, it ended up being substantially more than I was expecting and certainly help offset the costs improving the insulation throughout our home. After spending a bit of time asking questions to understand our project and needs, she went told me that she wasn't aware of the any rebates but that she'd look into it and follow up with me. I had a few other free estimates from other companies and ended up choosing this company because of their "green" approach to insulation with GreenFiber Blow-in Fiber Insulation, which is made with up to 85% recycled paper fiber instead of fiberglass, is highly fire retardant, and does as good of a job as scratchy icky fiberglass. We can already tell a difference in the comfort of our home and after having pre and post tests of the air sealing, there was a 16% improvement in the amount of air leaking in/out of the house. They added air soffets to our roof for better air flow and circulation of air in the attic so it's not so hot, and they did a great amount of sealing where needed to stop air leaks. We will be saving money now on our energy bills and this home improvement will pay for itself and then some. My particular job cost me around $1,800 but I will also be getting back a $500 rebate, leaving my total cost around $1,300. We are very happy with the new comfort of our home, and just in time before winter starts.
