Dennis is great and I have no complaints about the work or his crew. My complaint is due to the fact that when I hired them, I was told that they would refer me to someone who would finish all of the holes. I didn't want to have to go through the process of finding someone as I had just gone through the process when finding About Saving Heat. He gave us a few pointers on how to trap the heat inside without undergoing any huge changes or construction! I spent 8 grand insulating my 1955 home. Holly crap, there was no insulation in the attic, walls and cracks and holes everywhere! I had the XCEL folks come out and survey my house for energy issues. I got back a 25 page list that went from my crawl space to my attic. I didn't even know where to begin to get bids. Jerry at About Saving Heat came out and wrote down a 5 page bid going step by step on all the thing xcel suggested. He discussed options with me. He made it manageable. A month later, a team of three men spent four days in my house. They did a great job. They were neat, and professional despite the heat of July and a spider infestation. I liked these people cause I didn't worry about the stuff. I paid them and they handled it all. Also, they have gone through the Home Performance plan at EXCEL and met the other requirements for state and federal rebates. They have been around a long time and have a large staff. So I didn't have to worry that I had some fly by night LLC. read more

Excellent suggestions for helping control the temperature variation from second floor to basement. Installed a whole house fan which is working wonders this summer and suggested adding an air-intake in the basement, which has made a big difference in evening out the temperature between the basement and main floor. We are running the air conditioning far less this summer, and the house is more comfortable. The installation appointment didn't go well at first. The whole house fan was late arriving at their shop, and instead of letting me know and rescheduling, they left me sitting at the house. Finally I called, and was told they were 'almost there'. The installation crew arrived three and a half hours late....but the fan wasn't there yet.I was pretty grouchy, and not at all happy at having wasted half a day of vacation time for nothing. However, the crew was very gracious, they rescheduled for another day and took a close look at the work they would need to do so that they could make sure they had all of the parts. They arrived on time and worked quickly and professionally. I would definitely recommend About Saving Heat. read more

If I could give this place a 0 star I would. I am not even going to spend a lot of time on this review because I've already wasted so much of my time on this company's incompetence. I am not sure exactly how they are in business with their complete lack of communication. I own my own rental property business and I have never in my career worked with a company that is this mismanaged and I work with contractors all the time. Not to mention I've never written a bad review. Rayetta and Jerry are horrible at communication. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. - Rayetta will answer your calls but she is awful at responding to important information over emails... instructions, etc. - Two times they gave the tech the wrong information so he was unable to complete the job. He had to come back days later to finish the first job but only because I had to stay on top of them by calling and emailing. The second job was never completed. - I had to request an invoice twice because they forgot to send me one for two different services. - instead of apologizing to me after dropping the ball twice, Rayetta told me that I was a rude person. Long story short, hire a company that actually knows what they are doing. If they can't follow simple instructions to start up a swamp cooler or follow instructions to get on the roof for a repair, I'd hate to see what kind of work they do. read more

I was really excited when they came over and spent a long time looking over the house, taking measurements, and talking about the windows we needed fixed to be efficient (the main reason we called them). He seemed to have good suggestions for how to fix an unheated crawl space under the laundry area. But never heard back with an estimate or anything. I emailed them to ask about some follow up but never heard back. No excuse, no 'we'll get back to you', nothing....Very disappointing and a waste of my time to meet with them. read more

I used About Saving Heating and Air recently to have an evaporative cooler installed. Dennis and Greg were incredibly knowledgeable- and passionate- about the work they do! Their initial walk throughs were very thorough, and they had great recommendations for the most efficient system for our older, 1890 home. Through the process, they also did a very thorough review of where our home was losing the most heat by using an air-sealing test, that determines where air is entering the home. In the process, they sealed areas around windows, floorboards, doors, and other places where their cameras noted high temperature variations. We also had our attic properly insulated, and insulation added to areas behind various walls. The best thing is that they do an after-study! After all was complete, they were able to reduce air seepage by more than 60%! To top it all off, their office did an incredible job of handling Excel Energy rebate forms, which saved lots of $$$ on our total project. Whether you have an old home or a new one, I'd highly recommend About Saving, and ESPECIALLY if you have an older home that has not been reviewed for efficiency. I doubt you'll find anyone that knows old houses like this team- Dennis' knowledge about Denver and its homes is is also noteworthy because he lives in an older home, and knows the challenges as well! The difference is absolutely noticeable not only on cold nights, but also with our heating bill! Additionally, the crew that installed the system and worked on the insulation was incredibly friendly- great people, from the office, management, and work crew... Nice work, team! read more

UPDATE: Now that we have had some time to see the effects of the work, we have seen a drop in our energy bill. Even on warm days we don;t have to run AC (that's a huge impact!) On cold nights I'm noticing that we've run our heat less as well. Ultimately, I have no doubt that we will recoup all of the money that we put into these upgrades from the savings with Xcel Energy. I could not imagine worse service. Their work dragged on for almost a year and they never even got all the problems they caused fixed, let alone fix the initial problems they came out for. I gave them a key to do scheduled work on my home because I'm usually working from 7am to 7pm and they would come over unannounced and unscheduled. I finally had to cancel their business because they were so unresponsive and uncaring. Stay away from this company. read more

I am not able to recommend About Saving Heat. I contacted them to repair an older evaporative cooler. I found the office staff to be very nice, although not very quick to return calls. It was the gentleman who came out to my home who was rude and very difficult to deal with. Alex came out and told me he could fix it on a temporary basis but I needed about $400 and another appointment for a permanent fix. He came out a week later and said my system was too rusty to even attempt a fix. I don't quite understand how my cooler got so much more rusty in a week? When I finally got another company out I had to pay $1600, some of that was to repair the damage Alex did when he did his "temporary fix" by putting screws into the main shaft. I would recommend you save your money and find another company. read more

Great improvement on my home and very happy with their quick and professional service. I came across About Saving Heat through hiring Colorado Home Efficiency Consultants while seeking to get some Xcel Energy rebates for putting in new insulation in my attic. I had a few other free estimates from other companies and ended up choosing this company because of their "green" approach to insulation with GreenFiber Blow-in Fiber Insulation, which is made with up to 85% recycled paper fiber instead of fiberglass, is highly fire retardant, and does as good of a job as scratchy icky fiberglass. We can already tell a difference in the comfort of our home and after having pre and post tests of the air sealing, there was a 16% improvement in the amount of air leaking in/out of the house. They added air soffets to our roof for better air flow and circulation of air in the attic so it's not so hot, and they did a great amount of sealing where needed to stop air leaks. We will be saving money now on our energy bills and this home improvement will pay for itself and then some. My particular job cost me around $1,800 but I will also be getting back a $500 rebate, leaving my total cost around $1,300. We are very happy with the new comfort of our home, and just in time before winter starts. read more

These guys were very thorough, saw lot's of things other companies missed, that made total sense. I went with them and i am glad i did. My heating and cooling bills are lower, but important my home in 15 yrs has never been this comfortable. I could not believe my brick veneer home built in 1979 had no (none) wall insulation. They drilled tiny holes in the morter joints, did not damage brick and remortered. Looks great and do not hear much street traffic anymore. I have had fantastic service from Dennis and his staff. I called about wall insulation, and Dennis spent good time educating me about the most cost-efficient order in which to insulate. I ended up spreading out the work over several years; each phase has resulted in lower heating bills. We're about to do the final phase.
