I wish I had brought him in earlier in the process rather than try to figure some of it out myself. Super knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, great crew, responsive, and my house is SO much more comfortable and energy efficient. I used another company in my last house, but they didn't offer the level of service Robert offered, have nearly the knowledge, and charged just as much. In fact, the old company did attic sealing for me and said it was all done, but when Robert reviewed the work, he found dozens of spots they hadn't sealed up. I cannot recommend them enough. Robert came out, explained everything thoroughly, gave me a good quote, and worked through a bevy of issues on my 100+ year old house. I basically wanted the attic to be sealed up and then re-insulated before the hot weather hit. He also had to work around an HVAC contractor who was installing a mini-split system, running linesets through my attic, and installing a ceiling unit to serve my bedroom. Robert did a bang-up job on the sealing and insulation, including removing 4 layers of old insulation (which was unexpected), removing and installing new can light fixtures, and hooking me up with good drywaller to help clean up everything afterwards. My old house is so small (under 550 sq ft) that it was not likely to be worth much time and attention from an insulation contractor. But bids on my job varied a LOT. Bob Moreno's was not the lowest, but his attention to detail, and to creative 'extras' impressed me enough that I chose his company to do the work. NO REGRETS. And then, on the job, he noticed other things he could 'throw in' to help make my nearly 100 year old house more weather-proof (around the doors, in the crawl-space). And he just DID those things. No price adjustment. Even after I had paid the bill for the basic job, he and his team came back to finish up these extras. I finally got some numbers on my gas consumption over my first winter with Rob's insulation. Xcel Energy tells me that my normal (pre-upgraded insulation) consumption for heat would have been about $650 for the season. With the insulation, my consumption was just under $400. That is about a 40% savings. I need to work on the numbers for cooling and will post them when available. I will say that being super insulated means that your home heats up slower. If you cool the house in the morning, the AC may not be necessary at all on many days. read more

Simple Home Energy Solutions did an excellent job sealing our attic, replacing the old insulation, adding new soffit vents . The new insulation is far more effective. Our master bedroom no longer overheats in the middle of summer. The whole job was done within 3 days, and included blower door testing to measure the effectiveness of the sealing. A couple years ago, my wife and I hired this company for insulation in her 90 year old Father's home. We were given a quote that seemed fair in the beginning and I laid out my requirements to Rob prior to signing the contract, which he fully agreed to. So you can judge for yourself, these were my requirements... 1. I will inspect and approve all work. 2. I wanted to see the empty bags of insulation that was used to ensure the amount was according to the quote. 3. I insisted on rulers in the attic placed on the beams to ensure the insulation was to code on height. 4. We agreed Rob would be there for the work to make sure it was done properly. 5. Insulation would get sprayed in the trunk areas in the front outside of the house and in the garage. The work started out great and Rob was present in the beginning. It wasn't until later on that he started having an issue with me counting the bags and threw a fit over my insistence to have those balances deducted from the total quote. We ultimately ended up compromising and he still charged for the labor. You see, this is what most of these businesses do. They quote you on square footage and labor, but they don't actually place that amount of insulation in the areas as stated, so they make out on two fronts. Part way through the job, Rob stopped showing up, unless I starting asking questions. The trunk areas did not get sprayed and he claimed he never agreed to that. Towards the end of the job, Rob started becoming very hostile on the phone with me, while he was out of state, until I told him he would not get paid until it was done properly. I had to insist his guys re-patch the holes placed in my Kitchen and Garage ceilings and in the end their hose, which should have been covered, damaged our brand new wooden railing in the living room due to dragging it through the bars and across the wood. His crew re-sealed the doors of the house, but it did not seem to change the temperature much. Right before the end of the time frame to submit the paperwork, I received a call from him and he did get it in, which was a plus, but overall, I was not pleased with the way things transpired, or for his attempt to screw me over by over calculating the amount of insulation needed for the job. read more

Robert identified several problems right away (missing insulation, mold in attic and squirrel nests) and was able to redo the insulation in the time frame I needed. Whew! After getting multiple estimates, I chose Rob as his is a small, local business and his rates were very reasonable. He cleared and placed a vapor barrier, insulation and sealed my crawl space in about 1 day. Then he and his assistant placed insulation in my walls with little mess and patched the holes. I recently had Simple Home Energy Solutions perform airleak sealing, attic insulation, crawl space insulation, and blower door testing on my house. I was extremely happy with the service that they provided. Robert, the owner and installer, gave a very careful and thoughtful assessment of my home and gave me a detailed plan for how to approach the work. He clearly was an expert in this area, and he was very much more thorough than any other estimator that I met while shopping this job. At the outset, he was up front that while his company was not the cheapest option, he felt that the work and attention to detail that he provided were worth the expense. As it turned out, his was *not* the most expensive estimate that I got for this job, but he struck me as the most professional and most competent of the people that I met. Before the work began, he communicated well and was responsive to my questions. On the day of the install, he and his crew showed up on time and got to work straightaway. Given the nature of the job, they were all over my house, and they were very respectful of my family and the house throughout. The work was completed over the next two days, and Robert was very detail-oriented and friendly throughout the process. The result was excellent -- my home is enormously more comfortable, and I am looking forward to lower energy bills. The crew paid close attention to details (e.g., door and window sealing, can lights, bathroom fans, and clean up) that other companies would likely have ignored or maybe charged extra to tackle.
