I reached out to Gavin to install a 240v Outlet for my EV. He responded promptly and asked a series of questions regarding my current electric main panel. My current panel was completely full and he recommended a sub panel. We agreed to a date and time and he showed up as promised. The project took some time but I had full confidence in his expertise. I now have a fully functional 240v outlet to charge my EV. His cost was very reasonable for this detailed project and I would definitely use his service again for all my electrical needs. I fully recommend Gavin. read more

Gavin Chen is a highly qualified, knowledgeable, and licensed California C-10 electrician who came highly recommended by a friend to help us resolve an electrical problem in our master bedroom and bathroom. Our electrical issue occurred last Saturday. After I called Gavin and explained our situation, he went above and beyond by leaving a family gathering to come to our aid. We were truly touched by his kindness and willingness to help us, especially on a weekend. His professionalism, expertise, and genuine dedication to helping others are truly commendable. We needed to replace an essential component in our electrical breaker box, and Gavin even went out of his way to accompany us to the store to help identify and find the exact part we needed. He was incredibly efficient and precise in diagnosing the problem and replacing the component to restore our power. What impressed us most was his genuine concern and determination to get everything fixed before nightfall so we wouldn't have to spend the evening without electricity. We are immensely grateful for Gavin's prompt assistance, exceptional service, and above-and-beyond dedication. His kindness and professionalism truly made a stressful situation so much easier for us. Thanks Gavin for the terrific job you did that night from 6:30pm and stayed till nearly 10pm. He detected a faulty electrical wiring from the panel and took care of it. I will call him in an instant again, but hopefully not in the late evening(Jokingly!). Gavin was working with the garage door open as the panel was on the side of it. The cold and wind in SF is not the ideal situation to work in. Lester read more

Gavin rocks! Did some retrofitting of fluorescent lights in my garage. Called him up, we talked through the options for my garage, he helped me double check that I was buying the right part for his install, he gave me a very reasonable quote, texted to confirm the timing that worked for me, showed up on time, finished the work quickly and cleaned up his work. It all works super well, was a great price, was super efficient and pleasant to work with. He's the man! read more

I hired Gavin to replace a ceiling fan with light fixture. He did an amazing job! He was responsive, on time, and kept the area tidy. Prior to the job, I had sent him a link of the fan I was going to order and he helped me realize that the fan was too low. I love my new ceiling fan which works well and the light is bright. Gavin also noticed a broken outlet which I have been meaning to fix but never got around to. He quickly took care of that as well, at a reasonable price. read more

I contracted with Gavin to replace some old light fixtures and wall switches, for safety reasons and for aesthetics, more so the safety aspect because of potential electrical fire hazards. Gavin did an outstanding job. He is professional, conscientious and skillful. He diagnosed what needed to be done and perhaps even more importantly, what didn't. I don't think that happens very often these days. People tend to sell you things just for the sake of it, whether you need it or not. He is honest and his work is absolutely top-notch. Couldn't recommend him more highly. If you can get on his schedule to help you, you are in luck. read more

Gavin initially responded saying he could help with inspecting and correcting a potentially unsafe electrical installation. However, scheduling proved difficult--he gave me a tentative time but then said he might not be able to arrive or finish until late in the evening, which wasn't workable. More concerning was his refusal to work with a third-party payer. I explained that the original installer (a separate company) had already agreed in writing to cover the cost of a licensed electrician to inspect and repair any issues. Gavin flatly refused to even consider billing the company directly, offering no alternative and ultimately ghosting me altogether. I understand that billing third parties may add some complexity and that tradespeople in the Bay Area face significant cost-of-living challenges. Still, it's not unusual in situations involving contractor disputes or remediation, and I was transparent from the beginning. Unfortunately, Gavin's unwillingness to work through any sort of invoicing arrangement made it impossible to proceed. It's also worth noting that his preferred payment methods suggest a reluctance to work through conventional, trackable channels. If he only accepts direct payment and won't engage in invoiced work under any circumstances, it would be helpful if that were clearly stated on his profile to avoid wasted time for others. I'm disappointed, especially since the situation involved correcting safety-related mistakes and I was ready to proceed immediately with someone qualified and responsive. I hope this review helps others better understand what to expect when reaching out to Gavin. read more

Gavin was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and efficient in diagnosing & retrofitting my bathroom ceiling light. He was able to identify the issue from mere photos (per his expertise & experience), recommended to retrofit to a versatile base (most common light bulb base, E26), and ensure that the job is well done with all the needed components (new sockets, right size light bulb, etc.). I am so grateful for the find and fix of his premium service. I highly recommend him to my circle & anyone looking for a top electrician in the area! read more

My home has a security keypad that had been malfunctioning and I needed someone who could triage the issue. Gavin stepped up and diagnosed the issue and came up with a solution for my situation. He read the documentation for the product, figured out that it was previously installed incorrectly, advised on some products that I needed to buy, and got everything working. He even created a custom relay to enable the keypad, buzzer, and gate lock to all work together. I was really happy with how everything turned out. read more

I greatly appreciate how quick he replied to me, when the other electricians didn't respond at all, even though they were open til 7:00PM. Gavin found the issue and resolved it within 15 minutes. Service was originally on 3/17/25 Gavin was extremely efficient and professional. Although the issue was a simple tripped circuit breaker, he inspected the source of the issue and double checked the faulty outlet to make sure it doesn't happen again. Needed to change one old electrical outlet for an updated ground fault circuit interrupter that previously powered a dishwasher and garbage disposal. Gavin was the ONLY electrician out of the several I talked with, who told me I needed to have TWO new separate outlets because the electrical capacity of one electrical outlet was insufficient to handle both large appliances. That was what sold me on engaging Gavin to do the work. The installation was flawless. While he was on premise, he also had me check the other electrical outlets in the unit to ensure they were all working, as well as a closet light switch. Good communication with clients. Gavin is professional, thorough and very knowledgeable in his field, with reasonable pricing. If I had any future electrical needs, I would not hesitate to call Gavin again! read more

Gavin did an excellent job on installing my ceiling fan. The particular room it was installed in did not have any electrical in the ceiling. The room had a switch controlled outlet designed for floor or table lamps. Gavin ran power from that outlet to the ceiling and installed a ceiling fan rated junction box. Afterward he installed the ceiling fan. He was very professional and completed the whole job in just a few hours. In my opinion, I received a lot of value for the service he provided. We had an entire floor of our house that lost power, and I could not figure out why. Called Gavin based on his yelp reviews, and learned that the 5 stars are well deserved....he was all around excellent. Quick to respond and was able to come over and assess our problem the same day. Not only is he reasonably priced, but he's very up front about his rates prior to the visit...he sent a text with all cost expectations before coming over. I thought this was spectacular for a contractor, as I have many experiences with tradesmen giving ambiguous quotes and changing upon arrival. Gavin located and fixed our outage quickly. Will call him again if needed, and I'm recommending him to anyone that needs an electrician. 5 outa 5! read more
