I called R A Electric in a pinch to fix a switched receptacle that wasn't working. We have an old house and things can get dicey. Ricky gave me a quote on the phone and managed to fit me in the same day. He had everything working within one hour and I ended up paying exactly what he quoted. He knows these old SF houses. Excellent service, great value and extremely professional. I will be calling him for all my future electrical needs. read more

Ricky came to fix a problem with some failed lights in our house. First he tried to talk me out of having him come out by explaining how I could troubleshoot it myself, but I wanted to have a professional come out, so he came out the next day. He thoroughly checked out my lights, switch, and breaker box, replaced the dead switch, and gave me some good tips on how to troubleshoot problems like this in the future. I would definitely hire him again. read more

After a major construction project in my basement, the electric wiring was in shambles. A number of other electricians looked at the job and tried to upsell me on doing a lot of extra work that wasn't really required. Ricky came in, gave me a reasonable estimate, and then finished the work ahead of schedule and under budget. He is knowledgeable, efficient, and honest, and explains everything he is doing clearly. Highly recommended! read more

Solid, competent and reliable. Recommend without hesitation. Rick is a professional and pleasant to do business with.

Ricky took my call, responded on the same day, and fixed the problem with my outlet issues quickly without any hassles. He is professional, courteous, chill, and takes the time to explain everything he is doing and double checks his work to make sure nothing is missed. Out of all the other electricians available on the same day, his prices were also reasonable. Highly recommend this guy. read more

I found Ricky on Yelp when we were pretty desperate. Another electrician made several mistakes during a remodel, and we were having trouble finding someone who could fix things and direct us to the next steps. Ricky was thorough, careful, and responsive - even before starting the job for us. He communicated over email and text to make sure he understood what was going on and would be able to help. When Ricky did the work, it took less time than anticipated, and he reduced our already reasonable bill. I'm grateful Ricky is knowledgeable and honest. He is also friendly and was sweet to my very interested toddler twins, who wanted to join his team. Thank you, Ricky!! read more

Ricky at RA Electric is the very best electrician ever!! We do not know where to begin to list our praise of all of Ricky's excellent qualities. Ricky's skill as an electrician is outstanding. He completed our complex very long-running (4 months) replacement of PG&E's electrical service into our home diligently and carefully so that it culminated in perfection. The price Ricky quoted us for our project was very fair for the incredible volume of work It entailed on his part, including many all-day sessions at the side of our home replacing wires and metal conduits and more in all sorts of weather. Also, Ricky always kept us informed on the progress of our project, both with respect to his work and also what PG&E was requiring of us prior to switching over to our new electrical service. And above all else, Ricky is one of the nicest people we have met in many years! Ricky, thank you so much for all of your efforts on our behalf! We wish you a most wonderful future!! read more

Our refrigerator and house lights went out with no way to reset, he responded to our early morning email on a Saturday and was here in a half hour - fixed everything and patiently answered all our questions. Thanks Ricky! read more

Ricky was very responsive (usually communicated via direct email) even after many back and forths on what type of overhead lighting we would need in our living room. The day of the job he was prompt and let me know what was happening every step of the way. In the end, we were very pleased with the job and did not feel that he was trying to upsell us. He also had a very pleasant demeanor which you don't find every day. I plan to call him for all of our electric needs going forward. read more

I'm overdue in leaving this great review for Ricky. He was right on time, which is always a good start. We live in an older building with some... well, "questionable wiring" would be putting it generously. But despite the hodgepodge of the existing situation, Ricky quickly mapped out the system and found the source of the issue, and fixed it. On top of that, he was patient with my endless list of questions and was happy to share his knowledge and perspective. It's hard to find good, reliable, and friendly people - RIcky's all three. If you need an electrician, you can't go wrong with him. read more

We had a GFI plug with an alarm that was triggered inexplicably, wouldn't reset, and continued sounding the alarm. Called Ricky first thing in the morning and he came same day to replace the outlet. Ricky was efficient and a pleasure to have in my house. My mom answered the door when Ricky arrived and was impressed by his respect and demeanor. One should expect that as the default but unfortunately it's not always so. I will be calling Ricky next time anything needs repair, replacement, or installation. read more

I can't say enough good things about Ricky / RA Electric. If you are here on Yelp wondering who to hire - you should stop now and just get in touch with Ricky. I actually happened to see a recommendation for Ricky on on another neighborhood site and I decided to reach out. He responded to me that evening and we set up a time for him to come over to take a look at the job needs. From there, I got onto his calendar, and now I am sitting here with the jobs done - all within less than a week. In addition to being very responsive and a great communicator, Ricky arrived on time, was wearing a mask, and he was fantastic and patient with our dog who barked up a storm when she wanted to meet him. He was respectful of our home and safety (he closed the garage door religiously when he wasn't present in the garage as I had requested) and he left the work area very clean. He also sent some pictures of the work he did in case we had questions later. Last but not least, his rate is very reasonable. We will definitely hire him again for our future needs and we will recommend him to our friends and neighbors! read more

Ricky installed outlets for fast EV charging and laundry in our garage, and fixed a dead outlet in our home. I reached out to three electricians for quotes. Ricky was the first to respond, gave a fair quote and was the most responsive to our questions, so we were happy to hire him for the job. He was a pleasure to work with, arrived on time, was quick, courteous, and did a great job. We won't hesitate to call him the next time we need an electrician, and recommend him without reservation. read more

Ricky is a total professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. We live in an older building in San Francisco, and working on our house presents a number of challenges compared to newer construction. Ricky approached our job by listening closely, investigating the issue thoroughly, and then coming up with an excellent solution that also happened to speed up the job and save us money. On the job site he is friendly and meticulous, but also fast and efficient. He updated us all through the day on his progress and left the area clean and the problem solved. We wouldn't use anyone else in the future. A++ communication and electrical work. Highly recommended. read more

I needed some work done at my parents' house including adding a couple of 220/240 outlets and lighting to the kitchen and living room. Several electricians came over and some of them provided estimates. It was clear from the beginning that Ricky at RA Electric is a great listener who actually wanted the business. He had excellent ideas and worked with me to keep costs down. Ricky is very reliable and professional. I would use him again and highly recommend him. read more

Ricky's great! I have a car lift (230 volt 25 Amp) and an medium duty industrial firing kiln (240v 36-60A) that I had him install. My current panel was already fully loaded and wired for solar with a complicated battery back up so I didn't want that altered. luckily, the main switch panel from the street to the house has 2 drop outs, one for the main subpanel and one for a potential second. The second was already being used for my A/C and at his suggestion, we swapped that breaker for a larger one to act as a breaker for a new breaker subpanel. Then he moved my AC breaker up to the new subpanel, wired the lift to a disconnect on a 120v20A/240v30A quad breaker (neat), wired the kiln to a 240v60A breaker, and even wired up my lift's accessory air/outlet box to the existing garage lights breaker on the old subpanel as a bonus. Another bonus was that I originally had wanted the kiln on a plugable washer/dryer type outlet, but when he saw the poor quality of the plug connection kits across what was available at the time, he immediately pivoted to hardline bolt-and-wire connections in a grounded electrical box (but asked my permission first, which was great, since I've had others who will do the extra work and not tell me until it's finished which just sucks because I might have had a different alternate idea). Anyway, I think it's much more durable this way. It might be more difficult to disconnect it but that's still possible to do, and it's probably a good thing to avoid accidental disconnects during long duration use and plug failures which would start a fire. Pretty sweet deal, and he did an excellent job testing the connections and informing me of their operating amperage so we could be certain that having the devices on simultaneously wouldn't trip any of the breakers. I made sure to get a couple different bids from other electricians and while one was slightly less, most were much more. Ultimately, I chose him for his thoroughness in laying out a safe and sensible statement of work, a very competitive bid/estimate price, and especially for his top-notch communication skill, promptness, aimable customer service and flexible professionalism. Would definitely recommend him for any electrical job, and for on-the-fly advice during a project. read more

Ricky is wonderful. He is punctual, friendly, smart, and a super fast and efficient worker. Ricky came over after an outlet in my garden had caught fire. Within minutes, Ricky had diagnosed the issue, but he double-checked to rule out additional causes, and he replaced the electrical box in no time. He explained the issue and his remedy in a way that was easy to understand and gave me total peace of mind. I feel so lucky to have discovered Ricky! read more

Several of my electrical outlets in the kitchen went out. I am not handy around the house and decided to get help from an professional electrician. I went on Yelp and posted a request for a quote, which appears to have been sent to multiple electricians in my area and Ricky was the first to contact me. He was courteous and professional, and I knew instinctively that I would like to hire his services. Well, I should say "I intended to hire..." -- Bc the issues was resolved through my phone call with Ricky. He was not salesy and genuinely wanted to help my situation, even if it meant that I'd no longer require his services. I can trust a professional like that.
