We started with the cheese truffle croquettes w/ a nicely done pepper sauce, Mmmm, delicisio. Dinner for both will be the churasco de lomo and sides. Very yummy! Dined in 3 January 2024 for a birthday date with my man. Whew!! When you see £££ believe it, but add an additional £80 to what you think it might be!! I knew it was pricy, but whew, I was not expecting that!! Color me shocked. As soon as we walked in and saw the dining area, we felt under-dressed for how fancy the setting looked. The lighting looked impressive, the dinnerware was extra sparkly, and the staff looked posh. But, as we walked in, we saw others in sweaters and sneakers. There is a free coat check by the receptionist before you are shown to your seat. She then walks you to your seat and provides the menu before your waitstaff greets you. The view of the bridge lighting up the night from inside is nice if you get a seat near the windows. Our table was more located in the center of the restaurant, but we were still able to have an okay view. Our server was Alessio. He asked for our drinks order: 1x glass of wine, 1x virgin pina colada, and later 1x virgin mojito, then when he returned, he asked if we plan on having steaks. Once I responded yes, he quickly disappeared...I was so confused before he pops back out with a tray of various cuts of steak (see attached image). He then proceeds to explain each cut and recommended pairings. After explaining, he disappears again, assumingly this time to take the tray back. He returned shortly afterward and took our dinner order. We ordered two cuts of churrasco Lomo (we actually wanted the ribeye steak, but I guess he heard otherwise. We didn't fuss.). The steak *was* ahhhmazing!! One steak, for the birthday boy, was topped with a half grilled lobster (yes, grilled lobster is listed on the menu as a "topping"), mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese. The other steak was accompanied with roasted vegetables. I'm not sure what type of vegetables were all there, but a few cubes were not pleasing to taste. The carrots, beet, and potato were good, though. While we were eating, a lady randomly came to our table and started pouring us more water. She did not introduce herself but instead asked if there was anything else we needed. She was dressed differently from the rest of the staff, so her presence was so confusing to me. She disappeared out of sight as quickly as she appeared, before I noticed her again at the receptionist desk. It was the weirdest interaction. Minus the unknown vegetables and the unknown lady, the food was great. The setting was great. There were two other parties there celebrating a birthday as well. I planned on having cake or some other dessert to celebrate, but we were entirely too full to even consider it. We didn't even finish our food and had to take some to-go. After we were done eating and decided we did not want dessert, I asked for the bill fully expecting mid-£100s, but was taken aback when I saw the actual amount. Keep in mind, too, 12.50% gratuity was also added. I'm used to automatic gratuity being added for parties of 5 or more, not for 2 people. Wow. Anyway, I paid and we left. Since we were there to celebrate a birthday, I was okay with the cost as I know it would be thee only time I went there. If you want, I would recommend trying it for a one-time experience, but I'm sure you can get similar food and experience somewhere else for a much better price. read more

A well located Argentinian steak house. The view was fantastic, with the Tower Bridge nearby. It appeared to be a popular night out restaurant for dates and girls night out. I came alone at around 7pm. It was not busy. Right away I noticed the hostess at the front was inexperienced. There were three persons there - but they cannot handle coat check and seating guests at the same time. I had to wait for, let's say a few minutes before being greeted. Once guided to my seat, the waiter came to offer water. I ordered a bottle of sparkling. She then proceeded to pour two glasses before realizing that it was just me. No communication between the hostesses and the waiter. That said, she was pleasant, but not professional - as she pour the water from the other glass into my glass. Who does that in a relatively upscale restaurant. I ordered my items right away as there weren't much to think about - it's a steakhouse. I declined cocktails but asked for wine list. The burrata arrived shortly but she just dropped it off with no eye contact so I was not able to follow up with her on the wine list. I waited. Several minutes went by, she never paid attention even though she walked by my table multiple times. At that point, I gave up and asked for another waiter for wine list. He was prompt and the white wine arrived so I can start my meal. While I was eating, I had the opportunity to see waiter and hostesses chitchat, leaned against the wall, relaxing - not a common sight in a well managed dinning room. Then came my ribeye steak, cooked to medium rare. As I had my first bite, I realized that this wasn't a prime steak, no mealy in mouth feeling of an aged, marbled ribeye that you get in NYC. The cut was not good either, as there were tough to chew tissues. For 40£, I would expect better. At the end of night, the 130£ dinner left me unsatisfied. Money probably better spent elsewhere. For my next trip to London, I wont be thinking about returning to this establishment. read more

The Gaucho restaurant is perfectly situation next to Tower Bridge and City Hall. Great location! What caught me right away was the cow hide style chairs inside. The ambiance is perfect and the staff were amazing to say the least. They make all the drinks you can want and stuck to the Cabernet Franc, Casarena Laruens Vineyard, from Mendoza. It was delicious!! Here is what we had for appetizers and what recommend: -Beef Empanadas -Mini Burgers -Shrimp Chicharron -Spanish Mini Pincho -Chorizo Sausage -Tuna Ceviche Main Course - I went with their Signature Bife De Ancho (Rib eye served with chimichurri) Im telling you guys, this was really really good. Had it cooked medium rare and the flavor the sauce and wine just paired wonderfully! Desserts - We all shared the Dulce de leche cheesecake, poached plums and praline chocolate mousse. All delicious! One thing I wanted to point out which is why I have a 5 star is because their staff is exemplary! They brought to my attention that one of their servers accidentally dropped Bearnaise sauce on the floor next to me and some of it landed on my jacket. Keep in mind, they didnt have to tell me anything. They went out of their way and told me, took my jacked and tried their best to clean it on the spot. Took some off but since it was dark couldnt really say the other areas on my dark suit coat. One of the owners, Milena came to me and said to get it dry cleaned and they would take care of the bill. This is what I call "best in breed" customer service!!! Bravo! I am back home in the US now and they have issued me a re-reimbursement of the laundry bill to have the stains removed from my jacket! Man oh man ABSOLUTELY amazing! Made reservations about 3-4 days before and requested a view of the tower bridge when we went on our trip to London. Got to the area about a hour or two before our reservations and they had a whole outdoor extravaganza with little truck bars opened up service awesome drinks while taking in the amazing views. Got to the restaurant our table was ready for us which had an amazingggg view of tower bridge (which the table was not guaranteed with this view) started off with some bottles of wine and appetizers and as we selected our meats they bring the meats out to you and show you the marbling on the meat itself and go over in detail about the meat before bringing it out. Some of the juiciest steaks I've ever had. Amazing service amazing food amazing view. Should book another trip to London just for Gaucho. read more

We came here in December on a Wednesday at around 5. We asked the girl at the front if we could be seated even though we did not have reservations. She proceeded to take a call and act pretty snooty that we had even dared to enter the restaurant without a reservation. We stood there for a good ten minutes waiting for her verdict, when I felt it could have been a simple yes or no. Eventually she confirmed that she could find a place for us in the virtually empty restaurant, (Although, I will say the restaurant did fill, not to capacity, but people did arrive as the time ticked to 6 p.m.) After this rough start with the poor front desk customer service, the night did take a drastic turn for the better. Our waiter was simply fantastic. He was from Italy and recommended a wine that was just to my taste! We had the appetizer of empanadas. We ordered the tasting plate that had different flavors. Let me warn you that the empanadas are huge, so one would have been sufficient, but we had 6 between the two of us and it could have made up our entire meal! The beef was my favorite. We also ordered the filet which was cooked to the perfect temperature of medium rare. I would describe the atmosphere as modern elegance, but it wasn't so stuffy that you couldn't get away with wearing casual to business casual attire. Love Gaucho, Staff Are Great, Food Is Good, The Restaurants Decor Itself I Loveeeee, So Classy

The cow skins on the walls are a sure sign that it's all about the beef. I've been to other Gaucho's in London (the one off Oxford street, which seems considerably larger), but I visited this one for the first time the other day. If you're in the City, it's pretty convenient to just pop over Tower Bridge and enjoy the beautiful setting by the river. Food-wise, the menu is a little one dimensional -- think "beef" -- even to the point that we didn't order starters because it felt like having the beef and then the beef. Do you really want to tee-up a steak main course with a sausage platter or beef tamales? Not me. That said, there was a full range of ceviche, but we just weren't in the mood. The wine list is also a bit one dimensional, but happily that dimension is largely Malbec. I can't remember which one we had (sorry) but it was stellar. Steak-wise, here's my strong advice: get the Churrasco de Cuadril. You'll save some money relative to the other steaks -- the "lomo" (i.e., filet) is twice the price -- but I like the basic marinated rump steak the best. read more

Gaucho's has become a bit of a family favourite over the years. It started by mistake; my dad took me to one near Liverpool St station as we wanted something nice, but close to our train home. We then started to go to this location near the river, and now, every year, I go again for my birthday (and the occasional other family moment!) Gaucho's trades on Argentinian beef. There are a set of fantastic cuts, cooked to your liking, together with an enjoyable range of sides. The sides are a little small; we find it works best to have them as a sharing experience, which works out really well. Personally, I really enjoy the food. My journey through steak from well to medium has been facilitated by Gaucho's. The food is always well cooked and the staff are always accommodating and attentive. The wine selection is also great. As my family has expanded to include 2 young nieces, Gaucho's have continued to accommodate us in a pretty swish restaurant; trust me, that's quite a challenge! Overall, I really enjoy my meals here. There might be better in the city, there's probably cheaper, but for me, this is a great place for a great steak. read more

Also, first bottle of wine was corked, and couldn't be replaced as no more in stock. Went for another wine. A great evening with magnificent views of the Tower Bridge and the Thames. We were greeted by friendly wait staff, the place was bustling so we had to wait a few minutes for our table. However from the moment we were seated until we left our waiter and the manager were constantly checking on us to make sure we had what we wanted. The food was excellent. My hosts found out I love meat and am South American, so they brought me here and I love them for it :) As soon as you walk in, you know you're in for a treat. First, the smell of roasted beef completely envelopes you in a blanket of sheer bovine pleasure. Second, the hostess is very welcoming and the service is great. The restaurant is very moody, it's dark, covered in dark brown leather, cow hide accents here and there, black ceiling, modern crystal chandeliers, it just puts you in the mood for beef. 4 of us split the Guacho Sampler, it came with sirloin, fillet, rump and rib eye, done a perfect medium. For sides we got the hand cut chips, they are topped with sea salt, garlic and herbs...addictive! The sweet peas with bacon lardons (fresh thick cut ham chunks - my translation) and mixed salad with a simple vinaigrette. All of it tasted fresh and delicious. If you want a delicious steak, great service, and wine, Gaucho is the place for you. I wouldn't recommend going with a vegetarian. While they do have vegetarian options on the menu the decor is reminiscent of cows with cow skin chairs etc... This is the only good steak I have found in all of England, and that is because it is real Argentinian Beef. Everything was delicious. If you order medium rare, they will come a bit on the rare side, but will be tender and delicious. We ordered chips, spinach, and corn as sides and found it was too much food for us to get through for 2 of us. I would definitely recommend it and hope to go back soon! read more

The steak is somewhere between good and great -- it's not the mind blowing religious experience one occasionally has with a perfect cut of meat, but it's flawless and tasty. This is a difficult one.. I think the trick is if you like medium rare like me, then make sure you ask for rare, if you like well done then ask for medium, etc. The starters were lovely, the staff were really lovely, the cocktail I had was OK not great. The waiter didn't give us a menu as he kind of offered us whatever we wanted which was nice but it would have been good to know what they had available. The mains were disappointing sadly, my boyfriend had the fillet in breadcrumbs which tasted lovely but was a bit dry. I had the trio of medallions which I asked for medium rare: the fillet was cooked medium and very dry for a fillet, which I expected to be the best cut, the sirloin(?) was cooked well done, I can't really explain how well done it was! I had to tell the waiter which I never like to do, but he happily replaced this medallion for me with a perfectly medium rare one, the rump looked medium rare to the eye but was really crispy on the outside and the texture was quite dry, tasted like medium. The sauces were amazing the garlic oil and the chimichurri, we were nicely full so didn't have desserts. The broccoli was a nice vegetable side. Overall it was a very expensive bill over £100 which I wouldn't normally mind for really good steak, but I left a little disappointed. Ok I'm a fan of Gaucho's having been to a few of them around London. This one by far has the best view, as long as the upstairs is open you will get a great view of Tower Bridge. Unfortunately thew upstairs section was not open for our visit which was a shame as it was a Birthday celebration. It was probably not open as it was a Sunday would be my guess. Upon arrival we were greeted with the usual Gaucho gusto. Coats and bags were taken and we were given the choice of going straight to our table or grab a cocktail first, needless to say the cocktail option won! They have some comfortable seats by the bar in which to take your cocktail. We were given plenty of time to select our drinks, they were made swiftly once we had decided, we had a novice cocktail drinker with us so it took a while. Once we had received our drinks we moved across to our table, we did reject the first table as it offered little to none of the great few outside. Once settled we under went the usual what shall we have debate, the cheese bread is always a must when you visit a Gaucho. After the usual sales pitch from our waitress about the different cuts of meat. The service was to the usual high standard I have come to expect from Gaucho's, the timings of our meal was spot on never waiting to long between courses. Those of us who had steak could not grumble about the quality of the meat and the fact they were cooked exactly as requested. I like Gaucho's and will continue to visit them when I can afford them and if you are reading this it is not a cheap evening out, but worth it in my opinion. read more

My bosses LOVE Gaucho's, so I usually end up eating at one of their locations while in London. Which works for me because it's always an excellent meal, made even better because I don't have to pay. I think it's the Broadgate location that has the giant glass cube. It's fun to have a drink there in the comfort behind the glass while watching everyone walk by outside in the rain and wind. But this location along the river is my favorite because if your reservation is for the 2nd floor along the window, you get a spectacular view of Tower Bridge. I think it's a little odd that they bring the platter of raw meat out to your table so you can choose your cut, but I'm from Texas and it's required by law for us to be experts in beef cuts. My favorite is the filet, so that's what I generally order. The meat is so melt in your mouth tender here that you don't even need a proper steak knife. Order some shareable sides like spinach, mushrooms, and potatoes and of course a nice bottle (or 2) of Malbec, and you're guaranteed to have a fabulous dinner. My only problem is that some of my coworkers order their steak well done. It's already dead people - no need to kill it again! Medium or medium rare will do when you are at a nice steakhouse. read more

The other reviewers have already gone into great detail, so I'll just quickly share my story... My first Gaucho experience was at the one in Canary Wharf and it was a revelation! Amazing steak (I had the medallion filet which is so juicy and flavorful I didn't really use my sauce) and amazing side dishes (loved them all except for the fries/chips). Everyone at the table loved the little warm cheese rolls that come with bread... so much that they would have been happy to eat nothing but that all night! I was so annoyed that it had taken me nearly a year living in London to discover Gaucho... that I went again the next night! I came to this one because I love the area right by the river and Tower Bridge near the really cool ultra-modern glass buildings. I had the marinated ribeye (Churrasco) but ended up preferring the filet better. read more

Came for the lunch menu and while my colleagues enjoyed their meals I was left very underwhelmed. The 3 course menu was good value and the starter and dessert were enjoyable the portion size could have been increased slightly. The whole experience was ruined by the main course. I requested my steak medium rare and when it arrived it looked as though it had barely been into a warm pan. No one arrived to check on how our meals were for quite a while and by the time someone came I was out of time although they did suggest sending it back to the kitchen for additional cooking. The starters here are quite good and innovative. Somehow, I must have not been lucky with the beef last couple times I went there. The first time my ribeye came out well done when I ordered it medium rare. The next time I went there, my lomo fillet was cooked as ordered. However, both times I didn't feel like the meat had much flavor to it - tasted a bit bland and metallic. I must confess that I am more used to steaks done the US or European way. I prefer the taste of wood smoke and the searing that comes from an open flame. I don't think its this preference though as I've eaten at other S. American restaurants (see my other reviews) and the beef there has been amazing. I don't want to be unkind, because I know that Gaucho is supposed to be a decent restaurant, but perhaps it has become a bit of chain and lost its original magic? The only reason why I'm so critical is because the prices are high. The ambience at the London Bridge one is goog though and the view across the iconic Tower Bridge at night is amazing. read more

If you like eating beef, you'll like Gaucho. This particular franchise of the Gaucho chain has a location that's difficult to beat, in a modern part of town and with panoramic views of the Thames and the beautiful Tower Bridge. Gaucho isn't designed for vegetarians. It's all about meat here, and cow flesh in particular. Before you choose from the menu, a waiter will present you with the available cuts - large lumps of muscle and fatty tissue on a wooden board, which has been known to dribble a trail of cold blood onto the table. They leave the fur on the leather upholstery which generously covers the chairs, walls and indeed various other surfaces, and I'd wager that the interior-designer intentionally selected skins from breeds of beef cattle decorated with the most characteristically bovine of patterns. It's barbaric, really. It's a celebration and flaunting the sacrificial act of killing and eating another animal. Do modern Homo sapiens really need to do kill inferior species in order to eat? I recommend the sirloin or fillet cuts, and also the burger. Moo. The wine list is clearly intended to impress -- which it succeeds in doing. Incidentally, during my last visit I found one of the best red wines I've tasted in a while. I don't usually drink red wine, but this variety was recommended to me and the colour does somehow seem to match the overall theme of blood and red meat. I'll update this review with details when I find the note I made. I'm afraid I'd had rather a lot of the stuff by the time it came to choosing a safe place to file my note. read more

It's a chain, but it's a damn fine chain. They've got their own beers (lager, unfortunately), and it's not cheap, but anything on the menu is good. Then they do that thing where they show you the meat you're going to eat in its raw, wriggling (after spending a fine old time hanging). Sometimes I believe there's a force in the Universe that just pushed you in a direction you are destined to go. Prior to us heading to London for our friend's wedding, I spent quite a bit of time trying to find a really good restaurant for my wife and I to eat at on our first night there. After many hours of reading reviews and other recommendations, I chose Gaucho but the original location I was looking at was booked solid, so I saw that they had some other locations and saw that this one was pretty open for a Thursday night. Sometimes that makes me stop and think on whether or not that's a good sign, but I ploughed ahead and said, "well, it won't be our last meal". I had no idea that this is basically at the foot of our offices in London and that several of my fellow co-workers eat here regularly when they are in London on business. What a great find. We arrived early and although our table was ready the hostess offered us the chance to settle in with a drink in the small bar area. Absolutely. Right around our reservation time, she came and got us and brought us to our table in the front window. Usually I don't like those especially on really cold nights (with huge glass windows) but the view of Tower Bridge from there, light up nicely is really really cool. We started off with some Empanadas which were pretty good. Not the best I've had but nonetheless, a good beginner. I ordered the Bife de Lomo (Filet Mignon) and MK ordered the Bife Ancho which is the Ribeye. I added in a peppercorn sauce and we both ordered the sweet potato chips w/chorizo. Steaks were perfectly cooked and the chips were very good although I could have used a bit more chorizo in there. For drinks, MK was tasting several of the drinks of the day and I stuck with their house Pilsner (Rocio). We were stuffed otherwise we would have loved getting dessert. Restaurant was very attentive at calling us a taxi while we were still at the table but there's not really a good place for the taxi to pick you up as this is deep into that office complex and close to the River Thames.
