We had a few recommendations to try this place. It may have been the wrong day, cold and raining outside and the bar opens up to the patio so it was very cold indoors. Clean, trendy place on the beach. Parking was easy and accessible. Service was a bit slow as their bartender was also our waiter, the bar had 8 patrons. Super friendly, polite and gave some good recommendations from the menu. We had the ceviché, nice serving for 2-4 and plenty of hot unsalted fresh corn chips, very tasty with a perfect spicy kick. Bartender recommended the strawberry margarita, tasty but it was a short glass with more ice than liquor or margarita mix, loved the presentation. Hubby ordered the lobster roll and salad, both of good quality and quantity with a pleasing flavor. I ordered the medium cooked flank steak sandwich, very good but wish the bread was toasted so it would be a really warm steak sandwich. Fries were thick, fresh and hot; not too salty; perfection. Service was amazing but slow, the restaurant was busy so the bartender was quite busy. If this place is connected with Gauchos, we would have loved to have had the lamb chorizo meatballs as an appetizer. Anyways, we'll be back! read more

came here once before shortly after they opened and had a good experience with no complaints, so when we were walking by today, we decided to stop in for a couple of drinks. We were seated right away, and our waitress came over within about 5 minutes to take our order. At first, we understood that it was busy, so we didn't mind waiting. But after about 25 minutes, our waitress came back apologizing and said the drinks would be out shortly. Another 15 minutes passed with still nothing at our table, and she came back again with another apology saying they'd be right out. After waiting an additional 10 minutes with no drinks and no real update, we decided to leave. We've honestly never walked out of a restaurant before, but waiting over 45 minutes for two drinks was just unreasonable and really disappointing. read more

HORRIBLE service. Waitress couldn't get my order right... and it took what seemed like 30 minutes to get our food. My siblings and I ordered burgers. We each got our order 10 minutes apart from one another. before ordering.. I had inquired about the type of cheese they had and if they could substitute the burger bun to sourdough which is offered in one of their sandwiches... she said they could. Asked her what type of cheese they had, she said she would dbl check (how do you not know what cheese the restaurant offers) anywho... asked for the chimichurri lemon aioli... Once the burger gets delivered it had nothing I asked for. She failed to ask us how we wanted the meat cooked and she never came back to update me about the cheese before the burger arrived to me. When I let her know about the bread and cheese, she left and returned saying they only had cheddar and the cook could not change the bread cause it would change the style of the burger... what?!?! My brother had ordered a beer and that never got delivered, and my sister's burger meat was raw. What I'm assuming was the manager was no help. No apologies or any attempt to help make the experience better. My brothers burger and fries were bland. I finally just told her to cancel my sister and I's order since they were taking FOREVER to fix our meals. Definitely not returning back. Waste of time. read more

My mom and I visited Gaucho Beach today and arrived around 1:40 PM. Normally parking in this area is a nightmare, but since it was still early afternoon we found a spot easily. Unfortunately, that ended up being the highlight of the entire experience. My mother has difficulty walking, and the entrance from the parking area is quite a distance away. We came in through the patio and I asked one of the busboys if my mom could sit at one of the empty two-top tables while I checked in with the hostess. He said that was fine and that he would notify a server that we were there. After about four minutes with no greeting, we noticed the QR code on the table and decided to order through the link since we weren't sure if anyone was coming. We ordered a short rib empanada, skirt steak, and lomo saltado, along with a Coke and Diet Coke. About three minutes later, a server came by asking if we had ordered through the app and if we wanted water. I explained that we weren't sure how the system worked since no one had greeted us. He said it was no problem and that he would bring the order. He did bring water shortly after. A few minutes passed and we still hadn't received our sodas. My mom had a telemedicine appointment at 2:40, so I went to the bar to ask if we could convert the order to to-go since time was getting tight. The bar only had around six people sitting there. I spoke to someone who appeared to be the manager (the only person dressed differently). I also mentioned that we still hadn't received the sodas. He said no problem and poured them for me himself. At around 2:20 PM, the same busboy brought all of our food at once and told us they had run out of the short rib empanada, so he brought an al pastor empanada instead. Having worked in restaurants for years, I find it hard to understand how you run out of a product by early afternoon. And if it's unavailable, either remove it from the app or notify the guest before substituting something else. Because of my mom's appointment, I helped set up her phone and we decided to stay and eat. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. The lomo saltado was not a lomo saltado. I'm not sure if the chef has ever actually had one. It tasted like beef, tomatoes, and onions sautéed in Heinz 57 sauce. That's honestly the closest comparison I can make. The rice and fries were served separately--which I can somewhat appreciate so the fries don't get soggy--but they were already soggy anyway. The entrana my mom ordered was a bit rubbery, although the flavor was decent. My mom tried a small bite of the empanada and said it was okay. I took a larger bite and discovered the center was ice cold. I went back to the bar to let the manager know. Since we had already paid through the app, I wasn't sure how he would address it. He offered to bring a new one, but I declined and simply asked that it be removed from the bill. After struggling with the system for a bit, he eventually removed it and said he would still bring out a hot one "on the house." I went back outside to wait. Meanwhile my mom wanted to pack up her fries, but our server had disappeared. Standing right in front of the manager, the busboy, and another server, I walked over to the server station, grabbed a box and lid, and packed the fries myself. We left shortly after. What I find particularly ironic is that when you pay through the app, it prompts you to tip starting at 20%. Given the food and service we experienced, I felt like I should have been the one getting tipped. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

Found out Gaucho Beach has happy hour so I stayed for drinks. I ordered the white sangria, which was $9 during happy hour. The bartenders here are very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They make the drinks very good here and it pairs well with the beautiful view of the beach. I met some really nice people here while sitting at the bar. While I am not a fan of the food here, I definitely recommend the drinks and coming for happy hour during the week from 3-6pm. read more

Conclusion: I went to Gaucho Beach restaurant, Gaucho Cafe & Gaucho Empanadas. It's 3 restaurants basically sharing a split kitchen. Two are walk-up order and you can take the food to go. The sit down restaurant is self-seating where you basically have to flag down servers. They are all great for groups since you can order and settle your own tab. The food and drinks at all 3 are good. WARNING: The public paid parking lot can be an issue at all times of the day (about $4 to park). The lot is really for the public beach and with that, you get some of everything. Drugs, homeless etc. We were sitting in our car and someone in a white RAV4 backed into us in the middle of the afternoon and sped off. There are cameras so we had to contact the city to try to get video. Not sure if the guy that backed into us works at either of these restaurants or if he was just visiting. We contacted the restaurants right away and they told us to contact the city. I didn't see any security while we were there. Be warned! Service: 3/6: you have to pay for tip first and a differ person comes every-time. A guy came to clean a tabie we were waiting for but he only took the dishes, he didn't wipe at all. So we had to wait and flag someone else down. I'm not sure if they've changed this policy but I sure hope they do. read more
