Gatsby Ratings: 4.4/5
Food: 4.25/5 - Food is surprisingly better than I thought. We got two entrees to share. The Murray's Roasted 1/2 Chicken was juicy, tender, and roasted perfectly right. I love the sauce that comes with it, and the charred asparagus and salad added a good crunch to the dish. This is definitely a healthier option on the menu. The spaghetti + meatball was interesting. I never ordered pasta with two different sauces, but I loved it. I prefer the garlic cream sauce over the marinara sauce; it was not too heavy, but still very creamy. I just wished that the garlic flavor was stronger, thought it would balance out with the tomato sauce so much better. The marinara sauce was amazing, because it was acidic and sour and tasted super refreshing, but doesn't have the artificial tomato sauce to it. The beef and lamb meatball was huge, tender and juicy; super easy to chewy. The only downside was it's a bit undercook, still kind of pink on the inside, so didn't get to finish the whole thing. Finally, the poutine fries was delicious, and the HIGHLIGHT of the meal. The crispy and crunchy French fries topped with slowly roasted brisket along with multiple cheeses were phenomenal. This is a must order, and please share, because it can get heavy towards the end of the meal.
Ambiance: 4.25/5 - Located in Navy Yards, a busy area with lots of restaurants nearby. There's two floors, both levels are well-decorated with plenty of seating and the full size windows for lights to shine through. With the name of the restaurant, there was a Gatsby theme and cute wall decor and a retro party vibe and atmosphere to it. Overall, very cute themed restaurant, and surprisingly not loud at all. My favorite is the bar at the center of the restaurant, super fancy but a causal vibe too. There's also a nice outdoor seating area with open and enclosed spaces, but recommend to sit indoor and make a reservation.
Price: 4.5/5 - The prices and portions here are super reasonable. The spaghetti meatballs and murray's roasted 1/2 chicken were both $23 each. The sides, brisket poutine was $10. The total with tips and tax all together came up to be around $75. Great value, definitely a steal for a good dinner.
Service: 4.5/5 - Our server was amazing, attentive, and super friendly. I can feel the southern hospitality from her. She provided some good recommendations on some popular dishes. Also, we were not going to order the poutine fries, but after her detailed descriptions of the dish, we were happy that we decided to order it. All other staffs are quite welcoming too.
BLUF: Recommend the poutine fries and the spaghetti + meatball dish here. Decent food, wonderful and lovely service, and delightful staffs. Go try it out if you haven't done so, and this is one of the better restaurants located in Navy Yards. I had a great experience here, and will return again with friends when they visit DC again. read more
