When I said we were dining in, she told us the restaurant was full and that we could sit outside... in 100‑degree weather. The attitude was snotty, dismissive, and completely out of line. We felt like we were being treated as second‑class customers. Not welcoming at all. I'm genuinely disappointed. This used to be one of my favorite spots, but if this is the direction the service is heading, I'm not sure I'll be back.

The pave of young chicken was the best chicken I've ever had- I honestly did not know chicken could be this tender and flavorful. We also really enjoyed the Caesar, which the kitchen kindly split onto two plates for us- you could tell this was made with local, high-quality ingredients. There was an excellent bread service (I just love a bread service) and I really enjoyed my cocktail- I can't remember what was in it, but I believe it was called Let's Tart It Over and it tasted like Fruity Pebbles! Sunday brunch was maybe even better than dinner. They have a really smart way of serving brunch family-style in two courses. You start with another (excellent!) bread/pastry service and then the first course is an absolutely incredible salad, fresh fruit with mint, and two mini avocado toasts with Brussels sprouts (which were unique, but the only thing we didn't love). The second course was an assortment of breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch pancakes, and pear French toast. The eggs weren't amazing, but every single other thing was- the chicken sausage in particular was so fresh and delicious. And there's a whole table of desserts to choose from to end your meal! It's a good amount of food, but you're welcome to box up leftovers. I have to give a shoutout to Mohamed, our incredible server who we were lucky enough to have for both meals. He was kind, attentive, and had excellent recommendations. We were celebrating a birthday and he is one of the only servers I've ever had who truly made a birthday feel special and memorable, paying special attention to our table and bringing my mother sweet treats and bubbles to celebrate. I'll be reviewing each hotel, along with their spas, restaurants and experiences. While I'll share individual reviews, I'll also include some comparisons between them. This review covers our first stop on day one high tea at Harriman's at the Salamander in Middleburg. On that Saturday, we flew into Dulles and drove straight to Salamander Middleburg just to experience their high tea, even though we weren't staying there that evening (we returned four days later). We were not disappointed. The entire high tea experience was lovely. We arrived a few minutes early and waited outside until our reservation time. The staff made it clear they couldn't seat us early, which I completely understood, as they had strict time slots for each seating. Once seated, we were brought stools for our purses and given a tea menu featuring a wide variety of tempting options, some of which were seasonal. The menu also listed the items that would be served on the traditional tea tower. Like most afternoon teas, substitutions weren't allowed, much to my mom's disappointment. The table was beautifully set and the room was well lit and featured large windows overlooking the beautiful grounds. They first brought water, followed by a plate of perfectly sliced lemons, limes, and cucumbers to add to our glasses. We were also served us a refreshing sparkling rosé. As a vegan, I was given my own version of the tower, presented beautifully on plates. Everything, both on my vegan plates and my mom's traditional tower, was delicious. My mom's highlight was the scones, which she declared were the best she's ever had. My favorites were the fruit jellies, dark chocolate bark, broccoli tart, and the toasted rice topped with carrot- honestly, everything I ate was a standout. The service was excellent and attentive, and the tea was delicious. I started with the Pear Tree blend and finished with the Chai. Both were wonderful and, I believe, part of the seasonal offerings. The pear tea was light yet flavorful, while the chai was rich and perfectly spiced. My favorite high tea experience is still The Peninsula in Chicago, but Harriman's is a very close second.

Not a complicated choice, the Fish and Chips, which came with coleslaw. The fish was Cod and under the heavy layer of a batter crust the fish could only be described as mush! Not sure if it was previously frozen but suspect it was. Seriously overcooked. The small cup of coleslaw tasted as if it had sat in the bowl too long, was very watery and tasteless. Hard to express how disappointing this meal was! I would not return!

The historic atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, and it felt like the perfect place to relax and enjoy the evening. We ordered the artichokes and lobster mac & cheese, and both were fabulous! We even ended up sharing the dessert donuts with some friendly neighbors sitting at the bar, which made the whole experience feel even more fun and welcoming. I can already tell I need to come back and get properly spoiled with dinner here. Between the beautiful historic setting, delicious food, cocktails, and genuinely friendly atmosphere, the Red Fox Inn has definitely earned a spot on my Middleburg favorites list. I'll be back!

They sat us all of the way inside and in the corner. All of the employees were super sweet! The tasting menu has a lot of options for ways you can do it, but we all settled on an appetizer and steak with some additional sides (mac & cheese, risotto, artichokes, and fries). The salads and soup were SO good - refreshing, llight, and beautifully presented. The steaks were all cooked perfectly to our requests and the sides were plentiful.

The interior feels like a cross between an old country store and a classic small-town diner. There's a counter with stools, booths lining the opposite wall, and additional tables toward the back. The building definitely shows its age--which makes sense given its location in historic Leesburg. The men's restroom is tiny, and the dining room was a little chilly (something a few other Yelpers have mentioned), but with the humidity outside, it wasn't a dealbreaker. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We ordered an Americano, a waffle with scrambled eggs, and the country fried steak with sunny-side-up eggs and hash browns. Everything was delicious. The Americano, made with locally roasted Cafe Kindred coffee, was excellent--good enough that I may have to stop by their Falls Church location and pick up a bag of beans. The country fried steak was generously smothered in gravy, with plenty left over for the crispy hash browns. My eggs were just a touch more cooked than I prefer, but they were still runny enough to mix into the hash browns. My wife's waffle was enormous, and she enjoyed every bite. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the overall value is hard to beat. After reading some previous reviews, I'm glad we visited during a quieter time. Between the comforting food, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service, Leesburg Diner delivered exactly what you hope for from a hometown diner. We'd gladly stop in again the next time we're in Leesburg.

The soft scrambled eggs were dry, rubbery and brown on the outside, the potatoes were VERY brown and burnt looking and the sausage was dry and overcooked. I was so excited to try the biscuit but when I picked it up it literally crumbled like sand in my hand. It was a dark orange and clearly overcooked. The waffle was not even slightly warm. However the poached eggs were warm and cooked perfectly. That was the only thing cooked correctly in our entire order. We flagged down our server and he even said how overcooked it was. He returned everything except the poached eggs to have it remade. When we got the 2nd attempt it was not much better at all. I still had brown on the exterior of the eggs, the potatoes were about 25% less burnt looking and I got an English muffin instead of a biscuit because apparently they were all overcooked. The sausage looked better but was like eating rubber. The waffle was warm but doughy on the inside. We did finish the waffle and poached eggs and 1/2 of my English muffin but that was about it. Didn't eat the eggs, I only ate 1/2 a sausage because it had such an unpleasant texture to it. We totally struck out. The food was simply not good at all. The service was ok. We don't see ourselves coming back and it was an expensive breakfast given we left hungry. Such a disappointment.

Oysters are a delicate flavor and the point of them is to taste (or enhance) their unique brine, not bury them in a sweet sauce over cream. The giant pork chop was overcooked. The fries were so overcooked you could barely bite into them (and insanely salty). It is also incredibly overpriced. I rarely comment on price (we eat at Michelin restaurants a few times a year), but this place is ridiculous. Basically Clyde's style of food for 3x the price (and Clyde's is better). The staff was nice, but they seriously need to drop some of the pretense. Like I don't need my table swept for crumbs several times throughout a meal when you don't even bother to provide a beverage napkin to mitigate condensation (on a bare wood table, no tablecloths). The servers won't even take dishes off the table. They find their little crumb sweeper minions to do that for them. I've eaten at fine dining all over the world. This place is just trying too hard to be something it's not. Oh, and you also get the perk of paying $15 to park in the lot behind the hotel. Because apparently spending $500 on dinner doesn't include parking. Ridiculous. AVOID. They need to figure something else out. Loudouners may have money, but we also have taste and don't like being swindled.

She asked her typical questions and the server had no answers for any of them. She went back and asked the cook and they had no answers either. It was really frustrating. She ended up sitting and watching us eat our meals and we went somewhere else for her after. Regardless of where a restaurant is located (I.e. airport) I think they should have a general idea of the food they are serving. At least enough to be able to answer questions. The food was fine. Pretty dry (even a French dip!) but the flavor was good. It got the job done to get a meal in our stomach before an 8 hour red eye flight. The service leading up to the food really just soured the experience.

Check out the Backbone Classic Breakfast: Two Eggs Any Style, Smoked Bacon, Breakfast Potato Hash & Toast. All cooked reasonably well (risk adjusted for an airport) and super tasty. Coffee is good too, just not as good as Starbucks. Only downside is they need more folks working there. The service is good in the sense the workers are nice and working hard. There just is not enough of them so it's slow.

I was just looking for some good coffee one morning when I saw a little hole in the wall and realized it's a little coffee shop! I've gotten an iced coffee there, and a matcha the next two times. Both are great. The baristas are all really nice and will very likely be able to make you something if you wanna tweak an item on the menu a bit. And, most importantly, their matcha is the real deal. It's not the bitter and awful cheap stuff that most cafes will sell to you for the same price. This is the good stuff, and you can tell they make any syrup they add to it in house. It's so refreshing. If you love coffee, and especially matcha, this place is it!

Literally the worst service we have ever had…read more We had family in town and had never been here before. We were seated in the closed off dining area, to the right of the hostess desk. It took 10 mins for anyone to come see us. I had to get up to ask for someone to get our orders. To boot, the person who was supposed to assist us, was in the back hall by the restrooms texting and hanging out. I assume no one told her that we were there. The cider I ordered was warm, so I had to ask for a cup of ice at the bar. My husband's burger was meant to be medium well and it was raw. Lastly, it's extremely loud in that room. The chairs are metal, and when drug against the flooring, they make an awful sound! They really need a form of rubber on the legs. Very hard for grandma, who has hearing aids. Poor thing was so uncomfortable. The room next to us, with a door leading to the window to the kitchen, was so incredibly annoying. They were pounding the entire time we were seated, and it was LOUD! We all just sat completely silent. This was an incredibly disappointing visit and we will not come back.
