We had a really nice evening here. The vibe was cozy but industrial and old west and light at the same time. The servers were really personable and generous, helping me find a glass of wine I would enjoy. My cocktail, the Night Manager, was solid, but I didn't gush over it. And the food was good, but not great. We got the parmesan buns and butter special, which were pretty good but a bit too hard and crusty on top, and the butter was a little plain despite being flavored. The foie gras, dueling buns, and beef tartare appetizers were all really good but very tiny. Of all those, the cold crab bun was the most interesting and delicious tasting. But the mustard sorbet with the beef tartare was a really unique and fun take also. My spring pea risotto main dish was really good but not incredibly flavorful. Would not recommend this place unless you enjoy overpriced mediocre food in a very pretentious environment. Everything we ordered was either trying too hard and missed, or was poorly done. For example, we couldn't taste the oysters at all because they were filled with some kind of cream with a rhubarb sauce on top. A complete abuse of an oyster in my opinion. Oysters are a delicate flavor and the point of them is to taste (or enhance) their unique brine, not bury them in a sweet sauce over cream. The giant pork chop was overcooked. The fries were so overcooked you could barely bite into them (and insanely salty). It is also incredibly overpriced. I rarely comment on price (we eat at Michelin restaurants a few times a year), but this place is ridiculous. Basically Clyde's style of food for 3x the price (and Clyde's is better). The staff was nice, but they seriously need to drop some of the pretense. Like I don't need my table swept for crumbs several times throughout a meal when you don't even bother to provide a beverage napkin to mitigate condensation (on a bare wood table, no tablecloths). The servers won't even take dishes off the table. They find their little crumb sweeper minions to do that for them. I've eaten at fine dining all over the world. This place is just trying too hard to be something it's not. Oh, and you also get the perk of paying $15 to park in the lot behind the hotel. Because apparently spending $500 on dinner doesn't include parking. Ridiculous. AVOID. They need to figure something else out. My wife and I dined here on a Thursday evening for a casual night out, no special occasion. But honestly, anytime you walk into this restaurant, it turns into a special occasion. The decor and every design element are a cut above every other restaurant in Leesburg. I was fascinated by the woodfired grill & the amazing chef working it all evening. They accommodated my wife's dietary challenges flawlessly, and every single bite of food we had was incredible. We split scallop ceviche, oysters, shrimp cocktail, pea salad, and venison main course. Absolutely perfect. On top of that, management checked in with us regularly and seemed genuinely committed to not just accommodating her dietary restrictions, but making sure every detail of our night was perfect. The restaurant is run by Chef Vincent Badiee, who worked at The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm ands Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City and Italy. So expectations were high! We, a party of 4, all had hush puppies (brandished as a favorite by our waiter but I didn't detect anything sensational) and mushrooms. The latter were quite good and I love mushrooms so I really enjoyed myself. The gentleman next to me had Lobster Thermidor, and he raved about it. The lady across from me had roast chicken; the waiter said it was the best he had ever been served. I was allowed a bite and it was quite good though I would not have made that claim. Another gentleman across from me had risotto which came with gold leaf on it. He enjoyed it. My salmon was delicious but not sublime as I would expect from a Michelin chef. The service was very good. Our waiter had a lively personality, though not over the top, which I appreciated. He was familiar with most of the menu and did well describing the dishes. The ambience was wonderful with the fire that was the kitchen grill in plain sight warming up the atmosphere. The Huntōn and Hotel Burg opened recently and is a solid 4 with room to grow. This is elevated food with a traditional equestrian/hunting cultural vibe. Everything is high end yet not pretentious. No white table cloth. No servers in tuxedos. We started with a cheese and charcuterie plate, the venison tartlet and a bottle of Hodder Hill from Glen Manor. The plate was solid but nothing special. The venison tart was amazing. Total flavor bomb. All of this was served with bread, which could have been warmer and paired with butter or olive oil. No accompaniment for the bread was a miss. For mains we went with the filet (med rare) with au poivre and the "The Game" pie a hunters stew. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly with a nice fired char. However, the au poivre sauce could have had more pepper. The pie was amazing. Perfectly cooks venison, rabbit and duck. The crust was buttery and mixed well with the meats. Dessert was an amazing Basque cheesecake with a lemon sauce. Service was good but the pacing of bringing out the food could be improved. Prices are higher than Wine Kitchen or Echelon but competitive compared to DC and Eastern Loudoun restaurants serving these types of dishes. Bottom line this is a good new add to Leesburg and a good start but they do need to improve a couple of things. read more

Really excellent food! Super cute inside and packed on the weekend. Service could be slow at times and there was one dish I didn't like. The steak was SO EXCELLENT and tender, I tried the filet. I liked the bread plate in presentation and taste. And the pommes puree were delicious. I didn't love the creamed spinach, it was a weird concept and made super watery. I prefer it more traditional. I would for sure come back though! I want to try other dishes. They even give you two chocolates at the end. read more

One steak option on the menu for a hunting lodge-themed restaurant just doesn't cut it. The menu overall was subpar, with very few substantial meat entrée choices. The descriptions of the entrées sounded promising but did not live up to expectations once the dishes arrived. The pork chop, in particular, was overcooked and had the texture of rubber. For a restaurant built around a rustic lodge and game-inspired concept, the menu choices felt uninspired and failed to deliver on the theme. Even the dining room atmosphere suffered, as the paintings and décor were left unlit, diminishing what could have been a warm and inviting experience. The bright spot of the evening was the staff. They were attentive, professional, and genuinely tried to make things right. Management graciously comped champagne and wine, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, it felt as though the front-of-house team was working hard to compensate for an inadequately run kitchen and poorly conceived menu. While we appreciate the effort made by the staff, the overall dining experience fell far short of expectations, and this will likely be our last visit. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in without a reservation on a crisp Saturday evening, simply wanting to check it out. Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff welcomed us graciously and offered us our choice of seating at the bar or outdoors. Since the evening air was cool, they thoughtfully offered warm blankets for outdoor dining -- such a charming touch! We opted for the bar, where we met two incredible mixologists, Alex and Meneer, whose energy and attention to detail set the tone for the night. Despite the packed bar, they engaged with every single guest -- answering questions, recommending drinks, and crafting each cocktail with precision and care. Watching them mix was like watching an elegant dance, every motion intentional and filled with pride in their craft. For dinner, we started with the homemade bread tray, which came with several varieties of bread, a house-made butter, pickled and raw radishes, sliced onion, mint and bay leaves, and even a piece of honeycomb. Every bite was a delight. For our entrées, my boyfriend chose the half roasted chicken, and I couldn't resist ordering the burger -- because no matter where I go, if there's a burger on the menu, I have to try it! We shared the Parmesan steak fries, perfectly crisp and flavorful. The chicken was juicy and tender with incredible flavor -- I actually had to tell my boyfriend to stop because he was practically down to the carcass! My burger, a creative play on French onion soup, came loaded with caramelized onions, melted cheese, and served on a soft brioche bun with house-made chips and dip. That burger alone was chef's kiss -- truly one of the best I've ever had. Both of our cocktails -- an Old Fashioned for me and a Manhattan for him -- were balanced, smooth, and beautifully made. Watching other cocktails come out of the bar only confirmed that every drink here is crafted with care and artistry. From start to finish, The Hunton delivered an exceptional experience -- impeccable service, outstanding food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Everything about this restaurant was exquisite! The food was fantastic--definitely 5 stars--and the service was absolutely spectacular. The ambiance was classy and elegant, making it worth every penny. While the burger wasn't my favorite, the salmon and chicken fat rice were chef's kiss! The chef and barista clearly know their craft, and I loved that they went out of their way to make me a passion fruit mocktail (not even on the menu!)--such a thoughtful touch. Started with the Tiger's Blood cocktail, then the Tuscan Kale Caesar (avocado, pistachio, hearts of palm with anchovy dressing). For dinner, the Denver steak with Hunton sauce, plus herbed truffle fries on the side. Dessert? The C&C doughnuts....who knew thyme in a doughnut could be pure genius?! And to top it off, Chef Vincent himself surprised me with an incredible bite of foie gras (strawberry, pistachio, cocoa nib). Please listen to the low rated reviews. Within my dining experience I got to hear the table next to me complain about how long their food took and how charred and overcooked their steak was. Then a few minutes later I heard the table across complain about how cold their entree came out. I actually felt bad for the waitress as it wasn't her fault for the food, yet I heard her say the word "sorry" at least 10 times within an hour to multiple customers. I will say the workers were very nice, however for the price point this place is not worth it. I ordered the tartare, risotto, trout, and black alaska. The tartare was tasty but it took at least half an hour just for the appetizer to come out. Then it took almost to the 45 minute or 1 hour mark for the entrees to finally come out. The trout was good but nothing special for almost $60. The risotto was bland even when I asked for pepper that couldn't save it. I paid an almost extra $20 to add salmon and it was the tiniest piece of meat on top. The black alaska was already spilling outside the cup it came in and the brownie at the bottom was extremely hard. The experience was not worth the long wait or spending over $200 for this. They have validated parking for $15 or just save yourself that fee and park in a free garage a few minutes away. Definitely just make the trip out to DC for way better fancier restaurants that are worth the price point with the quality of food and speed of service! read more

Ah where do I begin..for starters the menus were too big, beautifully designed yet not enough room on the table. Ambiance was great and servers were on par..no complaints there. My main issues were with the food. I had the trout with sauces and it was too boney and charred. Had a hard time keeping the bones separated with the plate filled with sauces. The mushrooms as a side dish were over powered by the cumin. I had a hard time finding the dates that were cooked with the mushrooms. The oysters on the menu were already prepared with a granita, misleading on the menu. I would have opted for plain oysters that I could prepare. Then there was the cappuccino..sigh. It was too acidic and lukewarm. We ended up walking to Goosecup for the coffee. On the positive side, the steak was well prepared and a good cut. The drinks hit the mark. Overall, the location in Leesburg is ideal, hotel is beautiful and the lounge is great. I'll definitely come back, try something different on the menu and skip the fish/cappuccino. read more

This is a conflicted review. I hate to cast shade on a place that's been open less than a month. But The Hunton has been conceived of and implemented by a team from other successful local venues, so there should be less room for error and a better first impression. Let's get this out of the way right now. It's overpriced. By a LOT. The ambiance is nice, the service is attentive, the menu is credible, and the bar is capable. But for the same price, you won't leave feeling like it was a magical night at the Inn at Little Washington. You can get a similar visual experience at Lightfoot and arguably a better dining experience at Tuskies. On the plus side, flavor-wise, the appetizer choices were pretty good. The beet salad was universally regaled by the beet lovers at the table. The hushpuppies, while a bit non-traditional, were tender, tasty, and served with a nice herbed butter. Forego the expensive "bread and butter", which for $12 was a small baguette with some grill marks, a quenelle of butter, and a splutch of goat cheese. Petrossian caviar made a surprise appearance on the menu, but at $130, you'd better be seriously into fish eggs. Cocktails were serviceable, with some unique menu choices, but all were basically some tinge of pink and fruit and a weirdly shaped glass. Most were in the $15 range. Small beer selection, bigger wine selection, but it the menu prices made avoiding the wine list a must to avoid a home equity loan or a lengthy tenure as indentured dishwashers. For entrees, let's start with the baseline metric of the burger. Even though 5 Guys has done a great job of elevating pricing expectations for a burger, $28 for a basic hamburger is crazy. I better be getting ethically sourced unicorn meat for that price. And $14 for sides would be $42 for a burger and fries. Every other great burger in town is half that. Brioche bun with a reasonable patty, some caramelized onions, and some melted Fontina cheese. And don't get me started on the default side, "house made chips", which were a half-plate full of potato shrapnel which might have been chips before getting crumbled to dust and heaped on the blank space on the plate. Other dinner choices around the table included a whole trout (arguably the best price/performance ratio), salmon (a single slab on an empty plate in the $40s), saffron risotto (with gold leaf), and the "Game Pie." The latter was a frighteningly tepid, watery broth with some gristly chunks of venison and some cubed carrots and (maybe) parsnips or potatoes. While the taste was OK (mostly rosemary), this dish was an insult (thankfully comped after a sidebar with the waiter) as it was nowhere near "stew" in consistency, the temperature was literally room temperature or less, and the puff pastry on top made it impossible to get into without involving fingers and hands. Now on to a few more plusses and minuses to round out the evening. The service by the waitstaff was professional and friendly. But the table setting and food delivery needs a lot of work. Plunking down a knife and a fork in front of each diner, on a bare table with no linens, no charger, no centerpieces, and no condiments (oil, salt, pepper, etc.) made for a decidedly Spartan tablescape. For the prices, there could at least be table cloths or place mats and a place setting ready for guest when seated, rather than delivered long after orders were placed. Oddly, the food delivery involved a cast of many hands, with a food runner for each plate and a maitre'd like overseer who provided a recap of the menu, with less accuracy and detail than the actual menu. Plates were presented to the wrong guests, food "explanations" were skipped, and it just seemed awkward. I know this improves with practice, but it was a bit cringy in its attempt. In short, if you are actually staying in the Hotel Burg with an expense account for dinner, you will enjoy the dinner far more than the in-hotel dining at any place within a 25 mile radius. If you are from the local area looking for a "fancy" dinner and are more impressed with visuals over style and cuisine, you'll like it. If you think this is a place to have a repeatable date night out, you might need to wait and see if The Hunton recalibrates the menu, prices, and presentation before sinking too much into recurring visits. read more

I've eaten at basically every notable high-end restaurant in in the DC/NOVA area and this absolutely fits the standard. The service was as good as anyone could ask for - great even. The prices were perfectly within reason for the type of establishment it is trying to be. The ambiance is great - any seat that is able to have eyes on the cooking flame is awesome. Food was great, we tried a smattering of dishes and I left more impressed than not when it came to the more unique offerings such as the beet appetizer and oddly enough, the chicken. All in all you're walking out around 125$/person with 2-3 drinks and the experience exceeds that price point. read more

What supposed to have been an elegant outing ended up being very disappointing. When I think of elegant, I think white tablecloth that were nowhere near to be seen. Dining room had the ambience of a bar with dining tables. The staff was courteous, but attire seemed not be uniformed . We ordered the Ash Roasted Beets that come with Zhoug on the side that my date enjoyed she saved for her entree the Mushroom Kebab that the waiter accidentally removed the Zhoug. She asked him to bring more Zhoug.. I ordered the Lobster Thermidor which was presented with the meat still the shell. I have always had Lobster Thermidor served without the shell. The Mushroom Kebab was presented with Toum that had an unpleasant pungent taste. We have eaten at many 5 Star and Michelin 3 Star restaurants, this wasn't the elegance that we were expecting. The dress code didn't seem to be adhered to. According the to dress code guest not adhering to to dress code will be unable to dine, there were quite a few not compliant with the dress code. The tables were very close together. At the end of meal when we received the check there was a charge of $4.00 for extra Zhoug when the waiter took her Zhoug that came with beets that she was saving for entree, such a "Low Rent Maneuver" It is the principle we are questioning. For some diners if the waiter says you need to pick a side they will think it is included. We questioned the waiter as we knew everything is ala carte. read more

This restaurant is an awesome experience. The ambiance and the service are as good as it gets. What a cool place. Why the low score? The food was a bit of a letdown, especially for the prices. To start we ordered the 3 cheese plate and they brought out meat. Not a big deal but it was just underwhelming. The sausage was hard as a rock. We also got the bread plate. Several of the items seemed a day or two old. Next I got the filet. For $65 it should have been one of the best i've had but it was just tough. I've had better homemade ones. The seabass portions were tiny and too salty. The fingerling potatoes were cooked awesome but, once again, too much salt was applied. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and are glad we went , but I don't think we'll be returning for another expensive dinner. I had been here once before and had a good experience, so I wanted to come back with my husband. The service was awful! I made a comment to our server and she admitted she would even be disappointed so it seemed to have something to do with the kitchen. The restaurant was not packed at all, so no excuse really. They didn't charge us for one appetizer and a few drinks so that was nice, but I'm not dying to come back here after tonight. Food was ok. For what you pay for the food, the service should be great! We have been to numerous higher end restaurants in DC/VA/MD and usually leave unimpressed, so I don't expect much going in. We were there with another couple and all of us were beyond happy with the night. Cocktails were delicious! Filet mignon was cooked perfectly, trout and the sauces were delicious and perfectly charred, lobster Thermidor was amazing, and so was the Hunter's Stew. Our server was good, knowledgeable and friendly. However, one of the dishes, chicken was undercooked. A new dish was brought out and it was overcooked. When the server came back he said the chef said despite being very pink it may not be overcooked. It wasn't a satisfactory answer. When the new dish came out, no one even asked if it was ok. We only took a couple of bites out of the second dish. So, it was clear we didn't eat it. Neither the chef or the manager came over to even see if we were ok. The manager was walking around the room and knew about our issue because the server discussed it with her. They did take the dish off our bill but not even an apology. We told the front door hosts as we left. While they were sympathetic they were at a loss what to do since their manager didn't address it. There is such an arrogance at the restaurant. This was our second time we were there when the restaurant was first opened. We will not be back, as we were not valued as customers, which is a shame as we were very excited to have a high quality restaurant. read more

The intimacy of the restaurant is wonderful, the staff is particularly friendly, well trained, knowledgeable of the offerings and quite frankly a pleasure to deal with. Went for a second time & they served me undercooked chicken & instead of apologizing, the waiter said the chef said it sometimes looks like that. No manager came by & because she was pregnant, spent a lot of time at a table next to us because they had a small child. I have a picture to show what it looked like. Was so excited to have a good restaurant in Leesburg, but don't think I will return, but maybe in the bar. The speakeasy is a joke , too. They go up to $5,000 for a couple to join. Adding to our experience were perfectly crafted drinks by Sam / the head I don't want some cheese want me to take out some cheese with a ton of cheese? What a lovely night. We were greeted by a wonderful host who took our coats for us. We enjoyed the bar where we had a very tasty cocktail and enjoyed watching the bartenders create some amazing drinks. We were then seated at a cozy table for 2. The restaurant was quite busy but we did not feel crowded. The service staff - from the host to the bartenders and wait staff were prompt and attentive but did not interrupt our meal. i really wanted to give the Hunton a great review, but I can't. I just can't in all honesty. Okay, so here's my breakdown for your consideration. I don't even know where to start... the entire night was magical from the second we stepped through the door. These guys really curate a top tier experience from start to finish, right down to sitting us at table 13 because it was our 13th anniversary. The inside is gorgeous and immaculate. There's an open part of the kitchen and we got to watch the open flames and chefs at work which just added to the experience. The cocktail menu was chefs kiss. So many cool concoctions to pick from. The food itself was like nothing I've ever eaten in loudoun county. The chef is Persian and he sure does pack a punch with the flavor and creativity. It was almost like that scene in Willy wonka where you experienced a different flavor with every chew. I couldn't get enough, but also was stuffed full before dessert even came. But one taste and I jumped right back onto the battlefield for the baked Alaska. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. We had a wonderful time at The Hunton celebrating a big accomplishment in our family! The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing, and not at all stuffy. The service was amazing - from the managers - Brandon and Joe - to our waitresses - Audra and Kylie - and even their assistant - Larry! They all checked in with us regularly, while certainly not rushing us! The food was delish - especially the bone marrow and the Hunter's Pie (and the Basque cheesecake that Kylie insisted we try!!) At the end of dinner, Brandon offered to show us the SpeakEasy that is open to non-members on Wednesday evenings. Omar, the bartended, created some innovative and tasty nightcaps for us, and the Speakeasy ambiance was incredible! Overall, we felt truly cared for by all, and will be making The Hunton our place for all celebrations (and maybe just for no reason at all!). It was an extra special surprise to see an old family friend, Larissa, stop by the table, as we didn't even know she was working the front desk of the hotel!
