    caprese sandwich

The Manz and I went to Gather for lunch this week. He suggested it, and I happily went along. The restaurant area is to the left when you enter with about five 2-seater tables and two 4-seater tables. We ordered at the counter and got comfortable. I was able to peruse a bit of the market while looking for a lunchtime libation and saw that a variety of what I consider specialty goods are available. I selected a my drink and paid for it at the front where I also picked up a Rooster cookie! I gave Gather an extra star for carrying this treat. I ordered the caprese sandwich which came with a bag of chips. The Manz ordered the fried grouper sandwich w/ fries. The caprese sandwich was messy and very tasty. I love this combination of flavors, and Gather did a good job. The Manz enjoyed his sandwich and fries and said that the serving was filling (he is a tall, big guy so this is a big compliment from him.) We were lucky to find parking in the front off of Moreland but there is a bigger lot behind the buildings. A lot of the front spaces are limited at 20 min which make for an easy pick up option. This place has become my weekly and pseudo daily visit go to spot in Grant Park! Great vibes, amazing food and pretty good customer service. I really enjoyed the Claire and the Hamlet sandwiches.

Participated in First Taste Friday with Yelp by trying Gather. It worked out as I had a coupon for a buy one get one entree. I ordered the Impossible burger with fries and the chicken empanadas. The burger was good. The bun was nice and the onion, roasted red peppers and avocado were excellent. The burger patty itself was different. I've had plenty of impossible burgers but this was different...perhaps it wasn't grilled so it wasn't crispy. It was good but just different. The fries were good...fresh cut type fries. I paid for the garlic aioli and the chipotle Mayo. I liked them both but a bit small for 50 cent each. The empanada though...super good. The crust was crispy. The chimichurri sauce was delicious. I want to go back tomorrow to try the beef empanada.

I love having breakfast at this local, community-based restaurant. The food is always good and consistent. The staff is attentive, yet they give you space to enjoy your time, and he vibe is laid-back, which makes dining there enjoyable!

Tuna tatare - Next time I'd ask for the spicy mayo on the side. Came with lots of avocado under the tuna.

The food is excellent, the service is slow, and the seating is communal. I visited gather three times now for dinner and I've loved the food every time. There are light and healthy options which make me feel good about what I'm eating, but just because it's healthy doesn't mean it's not delicious! The atmosphere is just a little unusual because gather is inside a neighborhood grocery. There's a TV in the restaurant area, and there is a bar to sit at, and then there are large long tables with benches. You may have to get friendly and ask someone to shift down a seat to find a place with enough space for your party. We had to do this once when there were four of us. I've tasted the following. Grilled Caesar salad Tostones Seared scallops Shrimp stack Tuna tartare served with pita chips Loaded tater tots Creme brulee Everything has been delicious and fresh. I do wish that the service was faster, and that's the main reason why I would not choose to come here all the time. The menu is extensive and impressive and offers a lot of variety.

I literally walked past three or four different three star restaurants on my way to Gather. Each place had a wait, the longest of which was over an hour. At Gather? I sat right down. It's Sunday, so the craft beer was only four dollars a pint. Sure, I'll take that double IPA that is usually $7.50 for only four dollars, thank you! Did my entrée cost a little more? Maybe, but look at the high-quality ingredients. Combine that with little to no wait and attentive service? Why isn't there a line out the door? I'm tell you what, this place has a hidden gem. If you're nearby, make the trip. I guarantee you won't regret it. Oh, and if my wife had been here, we would've attacked those small plates like there was no tomorrow. this place.

I've driven past this place before and decided to finally give it a try. Arriving an hour after opening, this place was not too packed and had a pretty chill vibe as far as ambiance. I didn't enjoy any on this visit, but my buddies really enjoyed the 4 varieties they tried. Despite the menu being largely seafood oriented, I already knew I was ordering the "Kirkwood Smash" burger after my friend said it was prob his favorite burger in the area. The burger did not disappoint! The burger is not your traditional smash burger (in style or size) but was so good! The simplicity of the meat, cheese, and Calabrian mayo on that soft, brioche bun was perfect. It's one of the best burgers I've had in a while. The chips were really tasty too. The bathrooms had one of my favorite features - sinks outside the bathrooms. I know it's a small thing, but I like not having to wait for a free bathroom if I'm just washing my hands before a meal. The only downside is that our server seemed to be new. Almost every question, from "what's on draft" to "what's that Oyster's flavor like" was met with an unknowing stare and a trip to go ask someone else. She was really nice, just not very knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back when I'm in ATL next.

My group of 4 and I came in around 9:05pm for our reservation at 9:00pm and were told our table wasn't ready. We went to grab a drink at the bar but ended up unfortunately waiting about an hour to be completely sat (about 10:10pm). The location was VERY busy, almost difficult to walk through with the amount of people standing around waiting to get sat, but just wish it would have been a quicker turnaround time, especially with the reservation being booked. Now onto the good! Our server and server assistant Mitch were both lovely. Mitch came by frequently to take our order and check up on us. The food and drinks were INCREDIBLE! We got the some tapas, including potatoes, croquettes, empanadas, tomatoes and meatballs and everything was top tier. Quite an affordable night out if you end up sharing a bunch of dishes. The white sangria was also amazing. Very floral but in a not over powering way. We ended up choosing street parking a street down and were able to walk right to the restaurant with no issues. Would definitely love to give this place another try as it seems very promising but maybe on a less busy night.

Our server Lexie was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. One of the nice things about dining out front is the people-watching component. :) We ordered the calamari first and it was excellent. The dipping sauce was atypical of most calamari dishes but really wonderful. My bride (the birthday girl) ordered the ravioli with mushrooms in a wonderful sauce. I ordered lobster tails which, while tasty were impossible to remove from the shell without using fingers of both hands. Messy. Knife and fork wouldn't do the job -- but the finger-lickin' was great.
