This is a great place for a party melt. The burger is seasoned and the toast buttery crisp. HOWEVER, I think it's pretty expensive. Maybe because everything is al a carte. So this place came highly recommended for their burgers and cocktails. We arrived close to closing time however there was another group in front of us ordering so we decided to stay and give it a go. However I was taken a back that they were having casual conversation with the cashier even though they saw us standing there. I asked the cashier about specials and he told me they didn't offer specials although on the wall, there are some specials listed. He then tells me he is somewhat new. Order our food, take a seat, food is brought to us and it's a decent burger. However there are no condiments on the table and no one who works there in sight. Slowly but surely, we can see that the establishment is closing and we are trying to wrap it up. I went in for a burger at the end of the night around 8:30 PM on a Thursday. The place was empty except for a couple of people who are getting up to leave. The place was clean yet it does have a bit of a bar smell which is expected because they have a in-house bar. I ordered the "homegrown" which is a vegetarian option. The menu is a little confusing with regard to the homegrown because it offers black bean or portobello. I was thinking that the black bean was the patty, and the portobello took the place of the bread. However you have an option to have the portobello or black bean as a patty. So I just got the black bean and the hand fries. They were delicious cooked fresh to perfection! I couldn't stop digging in my box eating them on the way home. But once they cool, they are not very tasty so I popped them in my toaster oven to reheat and they livened back up. The burger was good. I felt like the feta was overpowering with not enough other flavors coming through. I opted for ciabatta bread instead of plain white bread and it was very soft. I'm sure people who come here mainly come for the real Angus beef burger so my review won't mean much. Lol But for the vegetarians out there, the burger is just alright. I've had better. First time at Moxie Burger and my Yelp app didn't let me down when we didn't know where to go while out of town on Valentine's Day. The objective was avoiding the crowds. My wife and I pulled in to Moxie about 40 minutes prior to close. They had a decent crowd, but nothing that scared us away. The small bar side with several TV's was lively. To my knowledge, this is not a chain restaurant. Walk up counter service was very friendly by a young man who helped with menu selections. Ultimately, I went with a Moxie burger and side sweet potato fries that comes with a sweet chili mayo dip. My wife got a plain n burger with no side. They offer soda and a full bar menu. I thought the value was good not great, but will reserve my opinion until after I weigh in on the food. The dining room is casual and it was clean with staff working to clear tables and sweep floors. Always a good look when you see this. Our food came out in around 15 minutes. I immediately went for the sweet potato fries, which is a favorite and plunged into the sweet chili mayo. Wowsers!!! The burger packed a punch and was delicious! My wife enjoyed hers equally. Both were perfectly medium well. Although it is set up as a fast casual, the cashier did swing by and ask if there was anything we needed, and how everything was. At my request he brought another container of the sweet chili, mayo that I adored. My wife and I concluded we were impressed with the overall operation of the business. So with high praise of Moxie I'm thrilled to provide a 5 star review. If we lived in the area, we would absolutely make Moxie a regular. read more

After a long afternoon at Fernbank (natural history museum), we wanted good food without a long wait. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Moxie as we were wrapping up at the museum and learned that there was no current wait. It's a "slow food" experience where you order at a counter and are handed a number placard to place on your table after you seat yourself. We were two adults and 4 children (two littles, one big kid, and one preteen), so we pushed to tables together to get the needed number of seats. Everyone had a sandwich of their choosing and we got a few shareable sides. I wanted a salmon BLT but they were out of salmon patties, so I ended up with the Olympian (a chicken sandwich, see pics). For the most part everyone enjoyed their food. The fried pickles that the preteen ordered were a table favorite. Reason for the star deductions: As I ate, I began having an allergic reaction. I'm still not sure what my body reacted to, but one eye swelled and became extremely itchy. Because I was the driver, we drove straight to a CVS for me to get some allergy medicine. The meds calmed the itchiness but it took a few days for the swelling to stop. My friend who was with me (the other adult) also reported that her stomach was upset later that evening. We are from Indiana and spent a few days in Atlanta over spring break to visit my aunt and do some touristy things. After visiting the zoo, we headed over to Fernbank and looked for something to eat in between. We came across Moxie Burger and checked out the menu online. I don't eat meat but the rest of my family does but they had an impossible burger option for me. All 4 of us, me, my critic hubby, and 10 and 12 year olds all loved our food. My husband had something with grilled pineapple on it and the sweet potato fries were so good. The employee who helped us was also very friendly, helpful, and funny. Truly the best burger I've had in Atlanta. I haven't been to the restaurant, only had it delivered, but the grass fed beef they use creates an absolutely delicious cheeseburger that I have eaten a shameful number of times this week. Their zucchini fries are amazing. Their onion rings are fine, but not as good as the zucchini fries. Literally the only complaint I could make is that one time (out of half a dozen), they sent the wrong sauce with my zucchini fries (I like petal, standard is jalapeno ranch), and that is such a minor thing that I may have to order from there again tonight. It has been two days since I had one of their burgers, and writing this review makes me think that's too long. It's also incredibly reasonably priced (in my opinion). For one person, getting a cheeseburger and my zucchini fries, it's under $20 to get it delivered. Now, I do tip beyond that, but you can barely get fast food for $20 at this point. Here's my advice: the next time you're craving a burger, come here. Cheaper than fast food and about a million times more delicious. The only reason I'll be getting a burger from somewhere else, when it's my choice where we eat, is if it's closed. read more

Noticed a couple of weeks ago that the Moxie Burger on Dekalb was open. We decided the next week it was time for a burger. We walked in, grabbed a menu, ordered, and found a seat. The place has two dining areas. We picked the one in the front. Then our burger and onion straws with petal sauce arrived. Single patty, cheddar cheese, mustard, pickle, tomato and onion. We asked for the Moxie Sauce on the side. The Onion Straws are served with a their "Petal Sauce". The burger was cooked exactly as ordered. The condiments were exact. The tastes were perfect. I would omit the mustard next time(they have it on the table) and still have the Moxie Sauce and the Petal Sauce on the side. Yes, I liked the Petal Sauce on the burger also. The onion straws were awesome. I have been searching the city for these little jewels. Wee almost fought over them. It got down to splitting the last one! They were also good in the Moxie Sauce and the Petal Sauce. Next time a large order of onion rings will be ordered...if we don't order a side of fries and a side of onion straws. Fries on the table next to use looked great! Service was quick, friendly and informative. Of course the restaurant was clean as could be as it is really new! Highly recommend. Was HOCKEY PUCK status. Cooked completely through, dry and honestly hard to eat. The meat is also seasoned weird... I think they season it with some fennel seed... And wasn't good AT ALL. We ate here after going to Jurassic world. Craving a burger. There's one of these moxie burgers by our house but we had never tried it, sadly. The food was awesome. Probably the best patty melt I've ever had and considering the ingredients of a patty melt are very simple this tells you one very important thing. They are using a high quality ground beef. We also got zucchini fries fruit cup and French fries. (Our son is a picky eater) he approved of the fruit looked and tasted fresh not canned, pineapple mite have been canned but the rest of it was good quality. The sauce that comes with the zucchini fries was really good. The place was decorated nice and kinda slow for lunch time on a Saturday. A square bun does not a ciabatta make. Fell apart as I ate it. Very fragile and seemed like a bun from Kroger to me. The chicken was dry. I understand it was fried, but it was almost shoe leatherish. Now my son had a regular burger. Though he enjoyed it, it wasn't a phenomenal burger. He rated it as average. The sweet potato fries were dusted with cinnamon sugar. Had I known that that's how they came, I would have asked to hold that as I like my sweet potato fries plain w a touch of salt. The fried zucchini was great. Overall the prices seemed high. It's an awesome burger . . . if you can get it. I spent half an hour trying to place a delivery order. Their app kept refusing to take it, saying "confirm your order" over and over and over. Finally, after 15 minutes of fooling around with this, I called the restaurant and started telling them what happened. They hung up on me. I called back and told them if they hung up on me this time I'd never darken their door again. I explained to him what was going on, and his response was, essentially, how sad for you. And we've reached the ordering cutoff now. I said I had started this miserable process 20 minutes before the cutoff. How really really sad for me. My dad used to run a retail business. His point of view was that the customer is always right and he would do whatever he had to do to make them happy. That's how he got loyal customers. Apparently, Moxie Burger is not in need of loyal customers. Had my dad heard this story, he would have made the burger anyway and delivered it himself. This is hands down the worst customer service I've had in years. It will be a long, long time before I have another Moxie Burger. read more

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, Moxie is my new local burger stop for primarily economic reasons. In the last few years, going out for a burger and fries in this city has become nearly impossible to do without dropping $20-$25 ... for a freaking hamburger. And that's before you add a beer. Hamburgers were food for workers, folks. Cheap, simple, quick, no frills meals. The public has somehow bought into this idea that hamburgers have become so precious that you see them on menus all over the place for $18, before you add a side. Moxie in Candler Park is a cute little place, people are friendly, and the food is great. Fresh, quality burgers and fresh fries. Nothing silly or overly fancy, but done well. Love the Moxie sauce, too. Love that I could add a lettuce wrap for free (another local chain literally charges 25% of the cost of the burger to wrap it in iceberg lettuce--this just feels like greed to me). And I got a small burger for my daughter with lots of fixings, including fries and a drink, for $7. I hope more restaurants follow suit by keeping it nice and simple (pizza--another historically simple, no nonsense food--is another genre that's jumped the shark and lost it's $$$ mind).
