Recommended by my friend, this pan-fried bun生煎 place isn't far from MFA Boston. The little place is…read moreincredibly popular and well-known among Boston's Chinese student community. Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

This place was such an unexpected delight. We came here after our Red Sox game had a rain delay…read more The soup dumplings were out of this world. I can't stop thinking about them. The noodles were also delicious. The food came out quickly and it was piping hot. We would definitely come back and try more dishes.

This restaurant has EXCELLENT Sichuan food. Our drinks (I got the Oishii) were all wonderful too. The ma-po tofu had the delicious mouth-numbing Sichuan peppercorn throughout. The signature Dan Dan noodles were flavorful and multilayered. The lotus fries had a garlic powder and a little sweet touch to them, and stayed perfectly crispy for the entirety of our meal. The pork dumplings were fluffy and satiating. The sponge cake was a little lacking in flavor but we appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. This place gets packed even on weekdays, so keep that in mind - it did get a little hectic and hot inside because of how busy it was. Service was still lovely despite how busy it was. This is definitely a place worth returning to. I'd like to return with an even bigger group so we can try more things!

Girls night out at Noah's Kitchen!! Definitely make a reservation this place gets packed--luckily…read morewe had one! Expect to be in close proximity to other tables too, not a large restaurant and very crowded. Noahs Kitchen offers elevated Sichuan cuisine. Definitely recommend coming here with a group of people and sharing dishes. We started with cocktails which were very good, and they have cool mocktails too. Everything our table ordered was delicious. We started with the lotus root fries which were delicious and a generous portion. I loved the flavors and perfect crunch with each bite. Then we had our main entrees, the pork bao, mapo tofu, and the dan dan noodle. We also ordered enoki mushrooms but they forgot to bring it to our table--unfortunately we only noticed after we left and had already paid for it. We ended with the honey steamed sponge cake which was nice! Not what I was expecting but I liked it. There were 4 of us and the plates were sized enough to share. I will say maybe we could've ordered one more dish to really fill us up but I think we all left happy! Definitely recommend! What we ordered: --Chengdu Braised Pork Bao --Sautéed Salt Yolk Lotus Root --Traditional Mapo Tofu --Teppanyaki-Style Foil-Baked Enoki Mushrooms with Golden Garlic --Signature Dan Dan Noodle --Osmanthus Honey Steamed Chinese Sponge Cake
