Similar to the other reviews here, I had an excellent experience with Gas-Xpress. I have a new-to-me mid century house, and the gas fireplace was not functioning properly. Not knowing anything about gas fireplaces, I wanted to have it checked out before using it. Todd is very friendly and professional, and quickly had my fireplace clean and working beautifully. He took the time to show me how to light the pilot light and operate the emergency shut off as well. To top it off, Todd carefully cleaned the exterior closure and glass. Called 3 times when the weather got cold, always was told it would be a month before any service available, so apparently this is a very popular business. Lots of questions asked about exactly what fireplace and what controller model is not working, which is perfectly appropriate. But estimates exceeded $400-$500 to replace our "terribly expensive" Skytech remote that I could purchase on Amazon for $100. I would suggest you contact them when the outside temperature is at least 100 degrees in the middle of August. Perhaps then they will be able to investigate your issue in the next 2-3 weeks. In fairness, they never did come to our home, as the woman I talked to was so negative and strongly discouraged me from booking with them. Got the message. read more

Todd arrived at my home precisely 10 minutes into our 3 hour window. He was courteous, careful to keep things clean, and incredibly diligent. He not only checked each and every face of our gas fireplace (an insert), he also walked me thru basic maintenance tasks so I could do future services myself. He fixed some poorly arranged gas logs (I had no idea), cleaned out the fan area under the insert, carefully cleaned the glass, and answered all my questions throughout the process. Not only do I feel like I got a basic seminar on gas fireplace maintenance, but I'm also happy to report feeling much more confident in the safety and value of the fireplace I have. That feeling of confidence is worth his fee alone. If you need a gas fireplace looked at, stop reading this and call this dude. He's awesome. Other Notes: - He drives a Scion xB as his "company truck." Cool. - He brings a big work cloth with him so the carpet in front of your fireplace stays clean If I had one complaint, it's that I didn't get confirmation call either the day before his visit or during the day of the visit with an estimated arrival time. Gas-Xpress came out yesterday to do a inspection on my gas fireplace. The home is new-to-us and I wanted to ensure it was in good working order and that I knew how to properly use it. The technician went through and thoroughly cleaned and tested the gas system. He also took his time to explain the switches, nobs, pilot light and ensure I knew where the shut-off valve was. He came up to Boulder to service my fireplace (which was slow to ignite and then would do the whole "whoosh" eyebrow-singing ignition...and then would occasionally turn off at random). He cleaned everything -- even polished the glass doors! -- inspected all the elements and replaced the busted thermo-couple that was the root of the problem. I never thought a service call could be so rewarding. My gas fireplace had not been serviced in 14 years so I was curious about what the net result would be. I waited for several weeks for the appointment and now I know why! They are in high demand for a reason. Todd was on time and very respectful of my living area, making sure to keep everything clean. He worked for almost 3 hours, taking time to practically take the fireplace apart so everything could be cleaned and given new life. He even went outside to unclog something. The fireplace was sparkling when he was finished and I was in awe. He "fluffed" my embers and they are so pretty now. I didn't know it would matter so much but it does. Todd also installed a remote which I've had fun with since he left. He explained lots and I learned about flames and "draw" and what happens when things get stopped up. I really enjoyed learning from Todd and it felt more like a visit than a service call. Received a call this morning from Todd, the owner, explaining that my previous review contained inaccurate information. This was the first time I had been contacted and after confirming that I was indeed mistaken, I removed the review within 2 hours of his request . However he has continued to harass, threaten, and even insult me after the fact through texts and voicemails. So while I always received great service, I found the owner to be unprofessional and downright rude. As a result, I can no longer recommend this company to any of my tenants and my wife will not be recommending Todd and Gas-Xpress to her new homebuyers. read more

I depend upon our gas fireplace to hypnotize my crazy dogs into being calm. Once it's turned on, they don't budge and quietly bathe in the heat. Oh yeah, and that same fireplace is not only a dog whisperer, but it also heats my house. It's kinda a big deal in our home. So, when it wouldn't turn on a few weeks ago. we were in a rush to find someone to fix it. Enter, Todd at Gas-Xpress. Todd arrived on time, was fairly priced, and was communicative throughout the entire repair. My husband, who was at home while Todd worked on the fireplace, said he ended up learning a lot from Todd about keeping our fireplace cleaned and cared for year round. We also didn't feel pressured to buy any parts that we didn't need and Gas X-press was able to quote us prices immediately, which is always appreciated. Todd also cleaned the glass and arranged the coals, which made our fireplace look great! The 5 star reviews from everybody are accurate. While I was disappointed that the appointment had to be scheduled weeks in advance, once the date arrived I couldn't be more pleased. We had purchased a home where the gas fireplace wouldn't turn on. Todd arrived, laid out his mat to keep things clean and went to work. In short order he found the problem...the system was wired improperly. We noticed our gas fireplace was smelling of gas and I got online to find someone to service it (yes we were able to shut off the gas in the meantime). Anyways, I got on Yelp and called Todd based upon the reviews. It is always a bit sketchy when someone only has such good reviews and you wonder how it is possible. BUT, I was very pleased. He was able to fit me into the schedule for the next day. I was given a two hour window from 10-12, and he showed up at 10:30. He was very up front about the cost, it would be $145 plus parts, and included a cleaning and inspection. The first thing he did upon arrival was to make sure to put something over my carpet to keep my floors clean. He was able to easily find a repair the leak in the line. In the end, just as he stated, the labor cost was $145. We needed a $6 part for the repair, and chose to also get a new igniter for $18. He fully inspected the entire fireplace, cleaned the whole thing, and put it back together better than he found it. He takes checks and credit cards, but prefers checks as he doesn't get charged the fee to take a check. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fireplace repair. read more

Todd was the second technician hired to look into our fireplace issues. The first was from a different company and took our problem from bad to worse; gave up and left us saying we needed a new fireplace insert costing many thousands of dollars. Because of the great reviews here, we decided to have Todd come and take a look. I am so thankful that we did because he not only fixed our fireplace issue but saved us many thousands of dollars in the process. He figured out right away that our fireplace actually did work but the remote didn't. He was determined to get to the cause of the problem and even though it appeared that it was getting electricity when we had checked the electrical panel, it actually wasn't. He worked very hard to find the location of that particular breaker, and eventually found it, cleaned the fireplace thoroughly and it is now working great and much quieter. I felt he was quite reasonable for the amount of time he spent. He was also a very nice person who took the time to explain the workings of our fireplace. We couldn't be more pleased. We had to wait a while being this is such a busy time of year for him, but he was certainly well worth waiting for. read more

Over a year and 25 plus(!) emails and phone calls later and I still have a nonfunctional fireplace, which was taken out of service and unhooked initially by GasX, pending some part that needed to be ordered. Todd, the owner / technician seems great. He's thorough and is very fair. The woman who does his scheduling (who I believe is his girlfriend) is an absolute nightmare to deal with. It's a shame, because it could be a thriving business. I literally spent the last 10 emails trying to gently schedule a time for Todd to come out, only to get responses like "we are still setting up the office right now I should be done by he end of the week". After endless back and forth and I even had to order my own part off of the web after about 5 emails of gems like this response: "I'm not sure as Todd didn't write an invoice for me to have as a reference all I was told was he told your wife what the part number is so I'm not sure if he had wrote it down for you guys but he didn't write down for me".... Had Gas Xpress stop by today to fix my gas fireplace. As soon as he saw the color of the pilot light he knew what was wrong and proceeded to fix it and clean the logs and glass. Also found the shut of thermostat had fallen of its mount and reattached it. Also saw that the connectors for the wall switch to the fireplace were poorly connected and put new connectors on. Now the fireplace works like it did when it was new. Spent about and hour doing the repair and was very informative on what he was doing and why. Would use them again. read more

Gas-Xpress ROCKS! All 3 of our gas log fireplaces have been resurrected by Todd the Miracle Man! Todd knows SO MUCH about gas log systems and broke it down in terms I could understand. I paid for 3 cleanings, $125 for the first one, $89.99 for the next two - a very good deal. He took the time to explain that my Heatilators had old control units which needed to be replaced due to old age (not the ignitors, not the gas valves, or any other parts which he could've added $$$ to his bill with). I got two new control units that day, and the other one was ordered and replaced the next week along with a blower in the family room which WORKS WONDERFULLY. Todd is very professional and the work ethic was amazing - he polished my glass fronts and they look new, he rearranged my logs so they actually looked like the brochure, and added and evenly distributed more vermiculite (glowing stuff), AS PART OF THE SCHEDULED SERVICE. He also performed a Carbon Monoxide test on all fireplaces to ensure they were operating safely - THANK YOU! Finally, there was no additional charge to come back with the backordered control module and blower, and even threw in a free rheostat after we discussed making it a variable speed install! I was very impressed with Todd's honesty and ethical attitude - now that I have my "pro" I believe we'll be able to enjoy our fireplaces for a long, long time. I recommend Todd and Gas-Xpress without reservation, call them and you'll be back enjoying the heat and glow of your fireplace before you know it! read more

I just had my fireplace serviced by Gas-Xpress today. It was super easy to make an appointment and they were able to book me an appointment a few days out. They quote the cost over the phone of $145 so that there would be no surprises. I was given a window of between 12 and 3 I believe. The tech showed up at about 12:45 and immediately went to work cleaning my fireplace and getting the pilot light back on (I had turned it off for the summer which is apparently a no-no). Not only did he get my fireplace back up and running, but he took the time to explain everything he was doing and what I can do myself to keep my fireplace in good working order. He also did a phenomenal job cleaning the fireplace for me and made it look SOOOO much better. It was such a difference that I wished that I had taken a before and after photo. He even repainted the inside of the fireplace where it was stained and looked horrible. I'm so glad that I found this company and will definitely recommend and use them in the future.
