I have been a regular Anthony Garubo hair client (every 7-8 weeks) since 2002, and an occasional nail client since moving to Maplewood in 1990. It has been great to have an NYC type salon in downtown Maplewood. The receptionists do their best to fit you into your schedule. This is includes evening and Saturday hours (since always closed Sundays and Mondays). The stylists and floor assistants are consistently attentive and experts at what they do best--hair. I am constantly pampered and cared for with drinks and I spy cookies but personally resist the temptation. I have used several stylists over the years. Currently Basile does my color and Katty cuts my hair. Over the years I have brought my 3 children and husband to Anthony Garubo for haircuts and have always been happy with the results. Anthony has formulated a line of hair products that are wonderful! I always buy them with my rewards program points as a treat. The costs go up a few dollars every few months which is why I change stylists every few years with less seniority to keep the cost down a little since everyone I have ever tried has always been great. But let's face it, going to a salon is as much an experience as it is to get your hair cut and Anthony Garubo always delivers! read more

I am very happy with all the hair services at Anthony Garubo. Ironically, I asked for a recommendation for a stylist who is especially good with curly hair. Stephanie is especially good with curly hair... but then I decided to wear my hair straight again... and Stephanie is also especially good with straight hair!!! Eventually I started having her do my color as well. The salon has just the right feel for my taste: luxurious without being pretentious. They always offer you coffee, tea, wine(!), water, biscotti and that adds to how pleasant the experience is. They manage to time their appointments so that there's never much of a wait (i.e., they are respectful of your time). They make it very clear that if you are not happy with any service you are welcome and encouraged, to return for complimentary adjustment. They have lots of (very pleasant) help at the front desk to welcome you and speed you on your way after you have received services (again respectful of your time). All good!!!! read more

I have lived around the corner from Anthony Garubo for the last 6 years, and it took me this long to realize what an amazing job they do with hair! I'd gone a few times for massages, which are amazing, but I had it in my head that for hair, it was more of a place for "old ladies." I couldn't be more mistaken! I got highlights from Ashley last weekend and a cut from Catarina, and my hair looks better than it has in years. I have never been to a salon that took so much time upfront getting to know me, my style, my skin tone, my face shape, my hair type, etc. Their customer service is amazing and you can return products, even if you have used them, if you aren't 100% satisfied, and the same goes with the service. They will re-do your hair if you aren't 100% happy with what you had done. I'm a huge fan!! read more

Love my hair!!!!!! It's always a pleasant experience getting my hair cut and colored at this salon. I have been going here for almost two years. The staff at the front desk are warm, friendly and very efficient. They take such good care of you, offering to hang up your belongings and seeing if you would like something to drink. They offer coffee, tea water etc.. I like that I get a text from the salon to confirm my upcoming appointment. The stylist that I see is Adrienne, who is a senior stylist. She is AMAZING!!!!! Her assistant Niria is the best!!!! My hair has never looked or felt better thanks to them and the great products the salon offers. It's an all around great day going there. I have been going to Anthony Garubo for about 8 years. The place itself is clean, modern and relaxing. The stylists are incredibly talented and the salon pays for and provides ongoing training and professional development for all the sylists at no charge to them, which I understand is quite unusual for a salon. I have seen Katy the entire time I have been going and she has taken me from soccer mom to a bit of style. My mom goes as do now my 2 kids who were finally ready for real haircuts, yet still reasonably priced. My husband even goes now and his look has changed significantly since he started getting a real cut instead of a barbershop cut. Everyone is professional, welcoming and attentive. I started going to this salon in 2010 upon the recommendation of a friend who has gone there her whole life...i finally listened to her and it saved my hair....i go to Ashley Garubo for coloring...I am a blonde person, since birth, and when i started to go gray and had to color my hair in addition to highlight it, i went to 6 salons and tried so many people, paid hundreds of dollars to have ugly, unnatural, yellow hair.....Ashley is an artist and an expert in regards to blonde hair...if you are a blonde person and are unsatisfied with you hair color, Ashley Garubo is the answer you have been searching for. read more

I started out just coming here for eyebrow waxing many moons ago. Then about 5 years ago I started getting my hair done with Stephanie. She is absolutely amazing, she knows exactly what I want and always styles my hair to my liking. I trust her completely to know what looks good on me and I even give her some freedom in styling. I recommended my mom to her and now my mom uses Stephanie as well! There are frequent price increases here, including raised prices for hair cuts, raised prices for hair coloring, an extra fee when additional hair dye is needed (why not mix the necessary amount from the get go?). Then there is a fee for using a credit card, which is very likely higher than what the credit card company actually charges them. I get that there is inflation and they need to cover expenses. It would feel better, as a customer, if the salon just did an across the board adjustment of their prices and not this incremental stuff. It's a nice local salon, with nice people. read more

I am extremely disappointed after missing two appointments and being informed that I would be charged $115.00 for not canceling in time. I was unaware of one appointment that Ashley made some time ago. As a loyal client of Ashley for over two years, spending $300 per visit, it's unacceptable that you refuse to waive your cancellation policy. I will not be returning to your salon. There are plenty of excellent alternatives in the area where I can receive the same level of service. This experience has shown a lack of respect for your clients. read more

I was recommended to the Anthony Garubo Salon by a friend whose family has been long time customers. The experience was great. I love my cut and have since been back for some of their spa services and just recently to drastically change my hair color. At the urge of my new hair stylist I went from an awful mousy brown hair color to a fantastic redhead. I had a wonderful experience at AG salon. The first visit was a haircut. It was exactly what I envisioned and my stylist was professional and extremely nice.
