I have not had my hair done here but my nails. The place is a bit dated and Ken does seem to be very talented with hair, but I come here from time to time to get my nails done. Reason - they are very competent AND unlike others use autoclaved, packaged supplies to avoid the risk of infection. Pretty much the same price as elsewhere too. If this is important to you, this is one of the few places that have this level of safety. And if not, it is still a good manicure. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at La Mode, specifically with a technician named Kevin. I came in to have my acrylic nails properly soaked off and to get a gel set with a specific shape and style. I showed a picture of exactly what I wanted. Instead, Kevin chose not to soak off my acrylic, he filed down with the machine and rushed through the process, leaving my nails uneven with leftover acrylic still on them. On top of that, he cut my nails short and rounded them without ever asking me, this was not what I requested at all. When I politely asked if he could reshape them, his attitude immediately changed. He became rude and dismissive and then said, "I'm done here," refusing to continue the service. I was left with nails I didn't ask for and had to leave feeling completely unheard and dissatisfied. I do want to acknowledge that another staff member was very kind and apologetic, which I appreciated. Decent place for a pedicure. I went as a walk-in on a Tuesday morning and the place was empty. It appeared clean. It has about four hair styling chairs on one side, four manicure chairs on the other side, and three pedicure chairs in the back. There is a tiny sectioned-off area for waxing or massage or something in the back also. The technician that did my pedicure was polite and attentive. It's definitely a no-frills kind of place, but fine if you want 40 minutes of peace to get your feet worked on and your toes painted. I would go back. read more

I regrettably had a terrible experience here a couple of months ago, my gel manicure bubbled and lifted before I even left the salon. Didn't have time for it to be redone so I had to leave with my nails scraped clean of the disaster, all scratched and messed up, only to be charged for a full manicure nonetheless. I'm not the fussiest of customers but was quite appalled that they felt that the way they left my nails warranted a full charge. I just left my appointment and I'm furious. I came here on a Groupon and he cut almost all of my hair off even though I told him how long I wanted it to be. Then he didn't know how to properly style my hair. I look like an old lady. It's a simple blow out and part to the side and it looks horrible. If you have even slight ethnic hair, don't dare come here. You'll be pissed just like I am right now. Now I can't wear my hair curly until I grow my hair out because it's above my chin. Walked in here because the back of my pixie cut was driving me truly nuts. The salon isn't much to look at honestly. No real decor or coherence. They accommodated me though I didn't have an appointment. The Hispanic lady who cut my hair was very friendly and attentive. She asked me several times throughout the haircut if she was going in the right direction and styled it beautifully at the end. Got several compliments that night. Only downfall was the girl who washed my hair. I will have nightmares for weeks about her nails scraping against my scalp. Overall a good experience. read more

Yes, there may be a slight language barrier, but Ken provided me with a great haircut. He had me confirm length using a mirror before he cut my long hair into a shoulder length and was meticulous about both sides being symmetric. I came here for the first time with a Groupon and had no problems getting an appointment. Good service, friendly staff, and sanitary (when ken dropped the comb he was using, he immediately put it in the jar of blue stuff and picked out a clean one). Will definitely return. Took one star off because although prices are reasonable for the area, it's still pricier than salons further away. read more

Now I finally understand when people say they wish they could give less than 1 star. Came into Salon La Mode to get a haircut by Kent. He asked me to point how long I wanted to keep my hair and made an imaginary line below my shoulders. He made an initial cut at that level while I still had my glasses on so that I could be reassured that he would follow my direction. Then with my glasses off, the butchery began. After a couple minutes I realized something was going terribly wrong but jokingly said "that sounds like a lot of cutting" to which he replied "just making layers, just making layers". It wasn't until he began drying my hair that I realized what he had done. He purposefully misled me and tried to keep me calm by continually lying and reassuring me that he was doing as I had asked. Completely unprofessional and unethical. Had Kent veered off the path I had provided but offered an on-trend, well-done look, maybe I wouldn't have been so upset, but this haircut is so out-of-date and the layers are so short (the shortest layer in the back is up to my eyeballs) that there is nothing that can fix this until it has grown out for months. Having someone physically change another person's appearance (in a near permanent way) without her knowledge or consent is entirely unacceptable. read more

First I got burned with the hair dryer stand that wasn't working properly(there was leakage and hot water was dropping on my left shoulder thank God I was quick), Second I didn't get the cut I asked for. I don't know why but all I know is although is close to my place but there is no way I would go there or recommend it to any one.
