We have lived in Stow for almost three years and after passing this place by for so long we finally went. It is an AMAZING hometown diner. The decor is very simple and functional. We got a breakfast burrito, western omelette, and a short stack of pancakes and all the food was great. They really do have amazing pancakes. There were lots of options to sub things out on the menu as well. They also brew local Rising Star Coffee and give you tiny complimentary scones! Adorable and delicious! If you have to be GF and you think you can't get fresh cooked food, come to this diner. Went there for breakfast before road trip back to Maryland. I asked if they had GF bread, and the waitress said, yes, and we have a lot of GF items to make for you. I asked about pancakes, and they use the same brand of mix I use to make pancakes. Got that with sausages that weren't from a supermarket. And the coffee cups...you go back in time with the old-fashioned mugs. This was fantastic. And the ambiance. Always a favorite of mine! I come for the PANCAKES! Yep this girl gets her own full stack and still wants more - they truly hold up their claim of "best pancakes". The staff are always extremely kind as well. This is a small diner which doesn't have a lot of seating but usually isn't more than a 5-10 minute wait. I've had a bunch of their food but the pancakes are my fav! Also very good pricing too. read more

We are in from out of state and looked up breakfast spots. Good reviews brought us here and GREAT food would bring us back if we lived nearby. Hubby had biscuits and gravy which we were supposed to share. He enjoyed it so much, I didn't get one bite! But I did get some of his potatoes. They were excellent! I love independently owned restaurants that are run by an owner who is passionate about their customers and food. Garretts Mill Diner is such a place. Yesterday, I was looking for a breakfast spot near my hotel that a dear friend and I could meet up at to catch up and grab some vittles. I knew there was a Bob Evans nearby but that didn't excite me. Thanks to Yelp, I found Garrett Mills Diner. Certainly without Yelp, I wouldn't have ended up there. It's a small spot in a strip mall off Steel Mill/Garrett occupied primarily by a bar. Inside,we found about 15 tables, an open kitchen, the owner/chef and a great waiter. The family vibe was genuine. We engaged in great conversation about his story, his vision for the restaurant and prepared ourselves for some excellent food. The coffee, from a local roaster, was delicious. It blew away the Dunkin Donuts carry out I walked in with. They boast of their pancakes and for good reason - the sample I tried was OH MY GOODNESS incredible. Light, tasty and delicious! My friend had the French toast and loved it. I had the huge, three egg western omelette with cheddar/ham/onions and peppers. It was excellent. Service was superb. I drink plenty of coffee and our server was constantly refilling our large coffee mugs (what is it with places that give you a tiny coffee mug anyway?) The owner Brian was the best. Friendly and engaging, one could tell he took great pride in what he was doing. And rightfully so as this place ROCKED! read more

What an unexpected and pleasant surprise. This is an excellent diner! Everything I had was 100% delicious and warm: veggie quiche, home fries, rye toast, and bitter-free coffee. And the owner is a genuinely nice person. Could not ask for a better eating experience. Too bad I don't live here and tomorrow morning I fly to California. Cool little dinner in a kinda new strip mall. I went in after a long night on the road. Had a typical breakfast special-- eggs, sausage and a pancake. Very good in truth, and way better than the free breakfast at the interstate hotel. I have to edit this: a couple of the reviews below aid the service was slow. They were more than right. SLOW. But it's the kitchen, the cook, who is the problem. It took me 30 minutes to get my EGGS! Eggs in a diner. I could have laid the eggs it of my own butt in the time it took. My biscuits and gravy were really truly amazing - I would highly recommend. The home fries made from big slices of potatoes were a nice idea, but some pieces were too well-done to be edible. My wife's omelette was good, but toast still not toasted. Service and ambiance were ok but could both use some work. The service is quite friendly but made me nervous. Its a small place and the kitchen is partly open. Unlike many places with an open kitchen, I felt like I was seeing too much. I wanted to get up and help with plate assembly and deliveries a few times when they seemed overwhelmed...like when my wife's food arrived 10 minutes later than mine. The menu is breakfast and lunch but we all ordered breakfast. Happy to see we could order a pancake instead of toast so there is no reason to miss the famous light fluffy pancakes! I drove past this diner many times, and never stopped and finally did Sunday good grief this place is AWESOME!!! We had 2 specials lobster bendict and croque monsieur and of course a famous pancake (the man at the next table told us it will be the best pancake I'll ever have and he was not kidding, fluffy perfection, our entire brunch was. We had the cranberry mini-scones a perfect size and just enough sweetness, brought the remaining home perfect for morning coffee I grabbed a to go tomato soup it was amazing, creamy just right amount of seasoning, ranks on my 'best thing I ever ate list' amazing definitely get a large to go. The service was very good fast, friendly and never had to wait for a coffee refill, prices were very good. One of the best breakfast I have ever had. It's a small little hole in the wall place. But don't let that fool you. Everything is handmade and made to order. Only a few tables but big flavor. Been to the place 6 times... I want to like it and I want to go back but I can't justify it. The good.. 1.) Food is good esp biscuits and gravy. 2.) Love small family owned local shops. 3.) Carlos, the server (He is not always there but when he is there 2 of the 6 times I have been there, it is amazing). The Bad... 1.) The price, it is overpriced. Stow Cafe is about 20-30% less in cost but the service is better. 2.) Service is terrible. I went once, twice and actually 6 times over the last 3 years trying to give it another chance but they are always chronically understaffed. You arrive and wait, they ask if you want more coffee then never bring it, you go to to pay the bill and you wait. I give it 4 stars for the food I give it 2 stars for the price I give it 1 star for the service For a total of 2.33 stars. Bums me out because I hate giving my money to Bob Evans but the price is similar, they have coupons and the services is 500 times better. I get the owner is trying to save money. read more

Saw all the five star reviews and was excited about trying it out. Weeeell here goes: was given a cup of coffee before I requested it. Thought it was kinda cool but strange because not everybody drinks coffee. Unfortunately it tasted weak, burnt and like it was brewed in dirty dish water. I could only take two sips. Server was a friendly disabled fellow which is great. Problem is he had snot coming out of his nose and white liquid around his mouth that would spit out when he talked. I asked for a glass of water and never got it. They brought the wrong order to my table, moved it to the right table but forgot all the extras that came with it (syrup, butter etc). When I got my food they got the order wrong and the silverware had dry food on it. At this point I was genuinely put off and grossed out. I'm not proud but at this point, before eating anything (because I couldn't without throwing up) I said I left something in my car and got the hell out of there. read more

Man I am just a big fan. I have been several times and have not ever been disappointed. I have not ordered the same thing twice, but I have always had a pancake on the side. There are very few places that get my approval of pancakes. Most places use a bisquick type mix. This place is all homemade (or a really good imitation). Their sign says best Pancakes and or Waffles and I will agree. I mentioned I have not ordered the same thing twice. On he back wall, they have a big menu and lots of specials that seem to change by the week. This is where I usually order. This will also contain your upgrade / upcharge list. Some of it is a little odd (e.g. home fries for pancake .50), but nothing that would make you not make substitutes that you feel you need. A very nice, locally owned business that is doing their part to socially distance their customers and serve some great food. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and .ensures taken by the restaurant to keep people distanced from each other. We felt very comfortable taking our masks off and enjoying our breakfast which consisted of eggs and Belgian waffles that were done to perfection and very filling. I pulled into Garretts on a suggestion from Siri on my iPhone. It was by far the best piece of advice she has ever given me. I was looking for a spot for breakfast in advance of a hike along the Ledges Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It was the perfect choice. The service was quick and friendly and I had THE best corned beef hash I have had it years. It's important to understand that truly good hash never comes in a can! It was served up with sourdough toast, eggs over easy and home fried potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! The chef came out from behind the griddle to say hi and receive a well deserved compliment.
