Number nine and New England clam chowder
    Scot F.

Local deli that has been in business for decades. Owner has a lot of racing pictures up, including on from the 1918 Indianapolis Speedway. This place is popular and will get a line but they are very efficient and friendly so don't let that stop you from coming in. Large tables to sit at in a comfortable environment. They have hot and cold sandwiches along with a soup of the day and chili. My wife is a fan of the number nine toasted but all the food is good.

    #1 - Bologna & American

First time in Kent. Was just going to stop at Jimmy John's, but then a local recommended this place. I saw that they had 2 bologna sandwiches, so I was sold. I went with the #1, which is bologna and american cheese. Each sub comes with lettuce, onion, tomato and oil & vinegar. I got it without tomato and added mayo. The bread was really fresh and the sandwich was a good size, i think. It could have had more meat, especially since bologna is somewhat inexpensive. Now, in my opinion, oil & vinegar really isn't a good with bologna. It wasn't horrible, but not the best combo. It didn't ruin the sandwich. Just better to do without. I would love to come back and try their fried variety.

Number 23 - the Little Italy

Locally owned. Amazing food. Better than the rest. This is where I bring my Chicago and NYC friends. They have all left as fans. I've had the number 11 for over twenty years. The quality has never changed. The taste is still at great as ever. I tried a number 23 today and it's a classic deli sandwich that anyone would love.

My husband and I took a respite from hiking in nearby Cuyahoga National Park and ended up in Kent on a rainy day. After some local shopping, we stopped in to Franklin Square Deli on the advice of a shop employee. I am so glad that we listened! The deli has apparently been in business for over 30 years and I can certainly see why. The menu includes sub sandwiches, soups, paninis, baked ciabatta sandwiches and more. Our sandwiches (Italian sub and reuben) were fresh and delicious. They were quick in accommodating my dietary restrictions. My sub was one of the best that I have every had, especially the Italian dressing. If I lived in Kent, i would certainly be a frequent flyer! On a side note, it was interesting to view pictures of the owner and read about his history as a race car driver. Hence the deli's racing themed decor.

After a stop at the Last Chance bookstore in Kent, OH we found this jewel of a sandwich shoppe on the nearby corner, The Franklin Square Deli. What a fantastic lunch! My rueben sandich was grilled to perfection. The meat and sauerkraut were fresh and perfectly seasoned (I substituted spicy brown mustard for the 1000 island dressing). After perusing the photographs on the walls, it became apparent that an older gentleman in the store was not only the owner of the establishment but avid race car driver! Neat story to go along with the deli. This may be our lunch stop again tomorrow!

Nancy Potter Black enjoying half of a 6 inch destroyer. No one makes it better. We drove from NC. and had to stop in

My son and I were in Kent Ohio. We went to Fred Fuller Park to leave the ashes of husband / dad Gary A Black three time graduate of KSU one time graduate of Tri-C Cleveland. Gary was an artist and did many painting of the lagoon which sadley we found to be overgrown. But we could not make a trip to Kent without stopping in at Franklin Square Deli. We had to split a destroyer,.

Franklin Square Deli always gives you square deal with a tasty, well-made sandwich -- hot or cold, sub style or paining or on a variety of breads. Here's my favorite crew working hard to serve you right: Alie, Vicki, Ellie and Maya.

Their claim to the best cubano in Kent is right on the money. Everything here tastes fresh and delicious.

Now, stop imagining, because Krakus Polish Deli & Market in Boardman, Ohio, is that magical land, and it is the holy grail of pierogies, kielbasa, and all things Polish food-related. If you haven't been yet, your taste buds are straight-up missing out. First of all, let's talk pierogies, these little pockets of heaven are to die for. Like, not even exaggerating. I tried the classic cheese and potato ones, and I'm pretty sure I saw a light flash before my eyes. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, these pierogies are so good they should be illegal. But wait--there's more! They do weekly pierogi specials, and trust me, each week is a new flavor adventure you won't want to miss. The cabbage roll; Heavenly. The sausages... Let me tell you, if there's a better kielbasa on the planet, I don't know it. The market is like a treasure chest of authentic Polish foods, we're talking everything my Polish grandfather used to keep stashed around the house, like sauerkraut pickle jars (which I'm 100% sure he got directly from the motherland), obscure teas, crunchy wafers, and probably some mysterious cured meats you didn't even know you needed in your life. And then there's the prices. I don't know how they're doing it, but you could feed an entire village of hungry Babcias (grandmas) on a budget here. Incredible value, folks. But--here's the catch--the hours are... um, "quirky." Like, if you're planning to roll up for a late-night pierogi binge, you might want to double-check their hours because they close early. It's kind of like they really want you to enjoy the pierogies, but on their schedule. So, don't be that guy who rolls in at 7:15 pm and finds the door locked. Trust me, I've been that guy. So, check the hours, make sure you're ready to dive headfirst into some of the best Polish food you'll ever eat, and prepare to have your mind--and stomach--blown. Krakus is like stepping into your Polish grandma's kitchen, if your grandma was a magical food wizard who had a secret stash of pierogies she didn't share with anyone. GO HERE. Seriously. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would.

There is no dine in option, so everything is take out. It is definitely a small family owned business, which is always a perk in my opinion! Real people making a real living. The sandwiches themselves were amazing! We tried a few different ones. High quality ingredients, great ratio of bread to fixings to condiments and the rye bread specifically was a stand out for me! So delicious. Homemade side dishes and desserts were also available. Or a simple bag of chips for just .50 as an alternate side option. They also have a cooler with a variety of unique brews available. The whole place is a bit of a spectacle with signs and memorabilia covering most of the inside. The bathroom itself is also an interesting site, with pictures of shirtless men, cats, and burgers seemingly cut out of tabloids and taped right to the walls. It's small and morgan wallens photo is staring at you while you pee, but it all added to the experience!

We hadn't been here before, but she has been waiting 25 years to come here. She has lived in Akron for all her life, and Kenmore for 10 of those. The bread was soggy, the ingredients were not quality whatsoever, it even looks like they cooked the sandwich with the lettuce on it. The pickles, the only thing free with this expensive meal, were soggy. We paid $41 for this meal for just utter disappointment. Not only that, but these are MAGA Trumpers, displayed everywhere, which is embarrassing in a town with such diversity as Kenmore has. Most of your customers are black, so this is just insulting.
