Imagine a magical land where the smell of pierogies wafts through the air like a warm hug from your Polish grandmother. Now, stop imagining, because Krakus Polish Deli & Market in Boardman, Ohio, is that magical land, and it is the holy grail of pierogies, kielbasa, and all things Polish food-related. If you haven't been yet, your taste buds are straight-up missing out. First of all, let's talk pierogies, these little pockets of heaven are to die for. Like, not even exaggerating. I tried the classic cheese and potato ones, and I'm pretty sure I saw a light flash before my eyes. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, these pierogies are so good they should be illegal. But wait--there's more! They do weekly pierogi specials, and trust me, each week is a new flavor adventure you won't want to miss. The cabbage roll; Heavenly. The sausages... Let me tell you, if there's a better kielbasa on the planet, I don't know it. The market is like a treasure chest of authentic Polish foods, we're talking everything my Polish grandfather used to keep stashed around the house, like sauerkraut pickle jars (which I'm 100% sure he got directly from the motherland), obscure teas, crunchy wafers, and probably some mysterious cured meats you didn't even know you needed in your life. And then there's the prices. I don't know how they're doing it, but you could feed an entire village of hungry Babcias (grandmas) on a budget here. Incredible value, folks. But--here's the catch--the hours are... um, "quirky." Like, if you're planning to roll up for a late-night pierogi binge, you might want to double-check their hours because they close early. It's kind of like they really want you to enjoy the pierogies, but on their schedule. So, don't be that guy who rolls in at 7:15 pm and finds the door locked. Trust me, I've been that guy. So, check the hours, make sure you're ready to dive headfirst into some of the best Polish food you'll ever eat, and prepare to have your mind--and stomach--blown. My husband and I shared two platters: the Polish platter and the Stuffed Cabbage platter. The latter is just like the former except that it doesn't have any kielbasa. It was all really delicious. The kielbasa is seasoned perfectly and the stuffed cabbage was so tender you could cut it with a fork. We would definitely come again if ever in the wider Youngstown area. Hey, while the DO NOT sell Krakus ham products, they DO sell an unbelievable array of imported, delicious, fantastic, items. As well as home made pierogis. I bought a dozen cheese and potato, a jar of horseradish w/beets. Condensed Borscht (add your own beef consommé) and wifey got couple packages of soups. Oh, and a thing of butter cookies. Posted bunch of pix. They were friendly, helpful, and located on Market St in that plaza right where Cocas pizza is. I drove by it first attempt. But turned around cuz that is how much I wanted this. Good Polish Deli for it's size. Small but good sampling of Polish Kielbasa and cheese's. These items are imported from what I am told Chicago. Freshness us good also. A little pricey but that is most the cost of shipping to them I guess. Not much can be done about that. They do make fresh cooked items also. They do catering too some extent. All together much better than than sinking Polish Deli in the Pittsburgh strip district. I do recommend it. read more

I purchased some raspberry jam, and kalotchi from here and then noticed the date on jam when I got in the car. I brought it back in and tried to find a good one. They were all expired so I pulled them from shelf and set them on a rack. The woman working was very rude, refunded me and never said a word. She then put all of the expired jam back on the shelf!!! I will NEVER buy anything from this store again. I couldn't trust them to be using fresh ingredients in there food th3y ar3 preparing. read more

There is no seating here. Food is to go but so worth it! We had the cabbage rolls and two kinds of pierogis: potato and cheese, and sauerkraut and mushroom. Up visiting from south Florida where finding good Polish or German food is almost impossible. Very friendly staff and for such a small place offers a pretty good selection. I feel like this place deserves more attention than it's getting. I had no idea there was even a Polish Deli in Boardman. But then the words Polish and deli appeared before me on Yelp and I decided it would be worth a try. So I stride confidently inside, glance around and see only a few shelves of goods. No tables, no indication of obtaining a meal. "Uhh, is there some kind of lunch menu or something?" I ask. An excited lady behind the counter informs me that there is. I am handed a small menu; among a few other things, there is a Kielbasa sub and Pierogies, different kinds for about every day of the week. On Saturday, the pierogies contain potatoes and cheese, so thats what I got. My food was done and ready to go in a few minutes, thus completing my exceptional experience. Krakaus has won me over. I have never liked pierogis very much, until I ate food from Krakus!!! I justwas there last week, and back already. Today, they had only a few left- so call ahead and earlier if you want many! They are PERFECTLY made!! The pasta on the outside is just right- and not egg tasting. The filling is plentiful and absolutely delicious!!! Nothing like any other pierogi I've had. My wife and I had no idea there was a Polish Deli in Boardman. We found this out on Yelp the other day and we usually have my brother in Michigan get home made Polish items from a Polish store close to him and he would bring it down to us. Anyway, we stopped today and the experience was awesome and the food was fantastic. Aside from home made, the stuffed cabbage is the best I have ever had. Perfect sauce to the meat/rice stuffing. The Halushki was great as well as the kielbasa we purchased. Get the wedding kielbasa. The best. I am so stoked to know there is food of my heritage close to me now. Some of the best food I've had since my great-grandmother passed away. It reminds me of her cooking and that was awesome. Everything is homemade and fresh. The stuffed cabbage is moist, tasty and the sauce is just right. Her pierogis are so good and she has a few different types to pick from including sweet for dessert. I can't say enough good things about the food and specialty items. The staff is very friendly and explained the different meats to me. There's nothing on the menu I wouldn't recommend. My wife and I love the Bigos (sp). The pierogi are really good and I would also recommend some of the wedding or the smoked kielbasa. I will not eat the typical grocery store brands. I think they're all very greasy. But I will eat the kielbasa from Krakus. The pastries are very good as well. read more

I love this place, best Polish food I've had since my grandmothers cooking. Kielbasa comes in a tie with my mom's. My only complaint is that they do not offer "online ordering". So, Im limited to getting the product when Im in Youngstown. I hope they consider adding online ordering for customers who live out of the state. read more

sorry guys, I know what are halusky and sausages supposed to taste like and this is definitely not like that. I found only one place near Youngstown where you can find real halusky (I mean real dumplings) and not crappy noodles. Please don't put a shame on your nation and don't sell the low-quality fat sausages instead of meaty ones. People here and all the Polish guys don't deserve to eat something like this. I'm not picky, but your food is the worst European food I've ever eaten here. I bought your "kolaczky mix" box as well. I find it so tasteless and not properly baked what makes me wonder why do you call that small box for 4.60 "mix" when the only flavor is "sweet" cheese (even though it wasn't sweet)? I'm glad for you that all the reviews I can read here are so positive, but you don't deserve to be praised for your food at all. I truly hope that next time when I visit your market to check your improvement, I'll be very surprised. It was so nice to find this hidden gem near Poland, OH. They feature a different type of pierogi daily. I happened to be there on potato and onion day - delicious! I am a big fan of pierogi and these did not disappoint. The Polish grocery selection is also very nice with packaged foods from Poland available - including concentrated soup in a jar. Delicious baked goods are also available. I tried the raspberry and apricot filled Kotaczski. The pastry was flaky and delicious, not too sweet and the filling was also nicely flavored without a lot of unnecessary sweetness. I have lived in Youngstown for over 40+ years. I have had my share of amazing polish food from family and great locations that do prepared foods. We moved to another state in the past two years and decided to try this location for pierogi. I chose lekvar, my family loves the flavor. Unfortunately, my review comes from this. We got our dozen preorder lekvar and it tasted sour. Now this was not solely my opinion but the company I was serving for Christmas Eve. The kielbasa casing was tough, we had to remove the casing to finish eating it that evening, the pierogi were not eaten and were unfortunately thrown away. While this was our staple for the evening I went with it however decided to call and speak to them personally. Where I was questioned on my cooking vs the product quality. There was no offering to rectify the situation just a quick answer of "I have not had any issues arise outside of this today". The unfortunate part is you need to understand that things happen but taking care of customer keeps them coming back and this unfortunately will not keep us coming back. read more

On a business trip to Poland, OH and found this little gem. They topped my expectation by many folds about Polish food. We had potato & cheese pierogi, cabbage wrap (or stuffed cabbage) with ground beef & rice, and homemade sausage veggie soup. All of them are delicious and flavorful. We plan to go back again tomorrow. They make different kind of pierogis everyday of the week besides the regular one. Keep in mind they close at 6 pm so make sure you get there early. They have incredible soups (my favorite is their Borscht soup), delicious pierogis with special daily fillings, sandwiches and other good foods on the daily menu that make for a perfect lunch or take home dinner. They have the BEST Polish sausages & cheeses that you will find only in their deli case. They also have quite a bit of authentic Polish items in the store for your cooking & entertaining needs. Now, during the holiday season & year round they have the most decadent chocolate candies filled with Vodka (of course) and other liqueurs that make great gifts for anyone. They also have homemade breads as well. I shop here quite often to buy items that I need to make Polish meals for my family and buy gifts during the holiday season. They are helpful, polite and very knowledgeable about the items they sell. Before lent they sell PACZKIS for all to enjoy. That is a polish style donut for those who don't know and a must have for all those who love them so. There is also Polish gift items such as dish towels, t-shirts, calendars, boxes of candies and more. This is one unique deli & bakery & I might add that they always have a container full of fresh haluski that is a Polish favorite for our family.
