Grilled cheese with pesto and fries. Cold marinara sauce
    Alejandra D.

I came here with a large group, and we were seated in the back room. The table was set nicely with a tablecloth and water cups, which was a good touch. We were given a limited menu instead of the regular one, maybe because we were a large party, but it was disappointing since some people couldn't order their usual favorites. I ordered the grilled cheese with pesto and fries, but unfortunately, my order was forgotten. Everyone else at the table already had their food, so I was the last one served, and my friends waited until my plate came out. When it finally did, the sandwich wasn't fully grilled, and the cheese wasn't even melted. The pesto was tasty, though, and the fries were fine. It came with a side of marinara sauce but it was ice cold. I ended up taking the sandwich to-go and tossed it in the air fryer and it grilled nicely. One positive was that they allowed separate checks for our group of 15, which made things easier. However, we had also given instructions in advance that the guest of honor should not be given a check and that their meal should go on our tab. Unfortunately, the server handed them a check anyway, which was disappointing since that detail was an important part of our reservation request. Overall, the setup for our group was nice, but between the limited menu, my forgotten order, the undercooked sandwich, and the missed detail with the bill, the experience didn't meet expectations.

We kicked things off with calamari and meatballs--both hit the table hot and flavorful (definitely recommend starting with those). But the star of the night? The short ribs. Tender, fall-apart delicious with this sweet-and-spicy glaze that had me practically licking the plate. And then came the 2018 Merlot... wow. Hands down the BEST Merlot I've ever had. Smooth, bold, and honestly worth the trip alone. It is a vineyard afterall. Cozy vibes, great service, and food + wine, and ambiance that makes you want to come back again and again. If you're in Livermore, don't miss it!

I visited Garré Tasting room on a busy Saturday. The group I was with had outside seating and our server was friendly and accommodating. I love their sparkling and my server told me of their NV Rosé Sparkling that was just as good as the regular sparkling. Their October Tasting Menu consisted of five wines, that included one white and the remaining reds. * 2023 Chardonnay was crisp, and flavorful *2017 Primitivo had a fruity aroma, tannic aftertaste, and tartness *2017 Syrah was smooth and no tannic aftertaste *2018 Touriga was spicy All the wines were enjoyable and I'm not a much of red wine drinker but their reds were balanced and clean, in my opinion. The outdoor setting was accommodating to our large group, with shade and nice decor.

    Baby Spinach and Arugula Salad

Went to have lunch today at their cafe. Really nice place for lunch. Plenty of inside and outside seating. Also, looks like this place stays pretty busy. Good variety of lunch selections. All of the food looked good from what I saw. I started with a small Baby Spinach and Arugula Salad. Nice size salad and tasted good with the Honey Balsamic Dressing versus the Raspberry Champagne Vinaigrette dressing. The other salad that we ordered was a small Beet Salad. Again very tasty and nice serving size. Our waiter brought some delicious fresh baked bread. Our main courses we had their Margarita Pizza (nice size - well made - great tasting crust), Chicken Alfredo (I didn't try it but it looked good and again nice serving size). I had their Blackened Salmon Sandwich that was served on Gilled Chibatta (well made sandwich) served with Fries. The only reason I gave this 4 Stars is the waiter we had could have been better. I used to be a server years ago. Wasn't on his A Game. Forgot things (I know it happens but admit to it don't try and play it off) and pay attention to your tables especially when it isn't slammed. Again nice place - I will go back again.

Attended an 18th bday Cotillion at Garre Event Center, Winery n Cafe last month. The food n wine at the event was pretty darn good considering the amount of guests they were feeding which led us to think that the restaurant must be just as good so here we are in May the following month to try it. Yes I would concur the food is pretty good, and if you get the right server you're in perfect hands. The fried olives as an appetizer yummy. Their bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar delicious. Garre Salad was large so we shared it. We ordered the seafood pasta which the sauce was a little too thin for me as I'm use to it being thicker so my bread can sweep up some of the sauce. It was fine. Dessert was bread pudding. It was good but could've been warm. Overall was a great experience. Wine I must say was really great and price was so good we ordered a bottle instead of a glass. We're going back to wine taste, have lunch and maybe even try their Bocce Ball if they still have it.

We wanted to try something different so my husband suggested this restaurant. We had reservations for 7pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night, so we were concerned. The menu had a good selection of starters and entrees. We ordered cocktails, a martini and old fashion. My husband ordered the Maytag salad and Nonna's pasta with meatballs and I ordered the wild salmon. Our waiter brought focaccia bread and there was olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles on the table. It took quite a while to get our cocktails. My husband had his salad and he enjoyed it. We finally got our cocktails right before our dinner was served. My salmon was cooked perfectly. It was on top of a crispy potato cake and served with fresh green beans and some onion strings on top. It was delicious. My husband's pasta came without the meatballs. Sadly they were out of meatballs and the server was unaware at the time of our ordering. All in all, a good meal. My husband had a glass of red wine and it was comped since there were no meatballs. Our service was good and our drinks were excellent. Nice ambiance and even a nice outdoor dining area. I'm not sure why more people weren't there. Our only recommendation would be to bring our cocktails out first.

The vibe here is lively, fun, and vibrant. Reservations are definitely highly recommended since it gets so popular. The entire staff is awesome, but a massive shout-out goes to our waitress, Ashley--she was fantastic and provided incredible service throughout the entire night! We ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, and every single one was a hit: * Fritto Marechiaro: A wonderful mix of fresh calamari, jumbo prawns, sliced zucchini, and artichoke hearts. Everything was fried to a light, crispy perfection and paired wonderfully with the signature Locanda Capri sauce. * Pane e Olive: Crisp, fresh baguette from local Wingen Bakery served alongside Locanda's classic olive tapenade. Rich, savory, and the perfect starter bite. * Fiori di Zucca: Delicate zucchini blossoms stuffed with creamy ricotta and mozzarella, served over a rich marinara sauce. These were absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth. * Penne alla Vodka: Tender penne pasta tossed with smoked mozzarella, Parmesan, and cracked pepper in a rich, creamy vodka pink sauce. Yummy and comforting! * Parmigiana di Melanzane: Mamma Carmela's famous eggplant parmigiana layered with melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. Hearty, warm, and bursting with authentic Italian flavor. * Pollo Piccata: Tender organic chicken breast served in a bright, zesty lemon-butter sauce with Sicilian capers, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and rainbow baby carrots. * Branzino Locanda: Fresh Mediterranean seabass filet lightly breaded with panko and topped with a bright lemon sauce, served with velvety mashed potatoes and rainbow baby carrots. Delicately crispy on the outside and wonderfully flaky inside. * Polpette della Mamma: Homemade beef meatballs cooked to tender perfection, served in a rich marinara sauce with Parmesan cheese and crisp crostini for dipping. Warm, comforting, and packed with flavor. * Beet Salad: A crisp, refreshing mix of wild baby arugula, mixed greens, sweet golden and red beets, tangy goat cheese crumbles, and juicy blood orange slices. * Espresso Martini & Wine: The drinks were top-tier. The espresso martini was amazing, bold, and perfectly balanced. We also ordered a bottle of Collefasani Bacchanalia Falerno del Massico Bianco D.O.C., which was served perfectly chilled--crisp, refreshing, and not too sweet. * Almond Cheesecake: For dessert, we treated ourselves to the almond cheesecake. It was rich, creamy, and served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream--the ideal sweet note to wrap up the night. Overall, it was a fantastic evening filled with great energy, outstanding hospitality, and incredible food. I highly recommend Locanda Wine Bar for a celebration, a night out with friends, or a memorable family meal!

Parking in the area is not bad; you'll have a small walk since this is in the downtown area, but there was a parking lot across the street. The bread was really good with the olive oil and vinegar, and turned out to be the best part of the meal. We were tempted to get a refill, but the menu said that they charged for bread refills so we declined. Nevertheless, they still refilled our bread and didn't charge us for it (maybe they forgot?). I tried their risotto con pollo and short rib papardelle. The risotto was alright, not the best I've had and portions were small. The short rib papardelle was way too salty. Also, it felt really sketchy when they handed us the bill with the total amount and tip already hand written in on the customer receipt by the waiter. Besides this, I would say skip their mediocre and pricey food.

Definitely coming back for more delicious pizza. Ribeye was cooked well but vegetables could have been cooked and seasoned a little more. Brasato was flavorful and balanced well with the polenta but beware if you have a big appetite, as it may not be enough. Not pictured was a dish with clams my Mother ordered that really upset her stomach... hopefully a one-off case. Drinks were on the small side and were quite pricey but tasted pretty good. So I booked a reservation. I reviewed my reservation and somehow it booked it for the next day. The booking was through Resy. I couldn't cancel it or change it on my phone since it was blocking the pop ups. So I called the place. they were very helpful and I wanted to cancel it which was no problem. then I asked if they could fit our party of four today. She was able to fit us which was perfect. We arrived and were seated right away. The dinning room is pretty small with about nine or so tables. They do have outdoor seating too but i didn't go out there. Just a note they have a bathroom inside towards the back and one outside the back door towards the outdoor dining. The menu is a small one but it changes all the time which is great. You won't get bored of the food, for sure. It's all scratch made here too. Which is a plus for sure. Our server was very friendly and gave us some recommendations. She said the Moutabal for starting, The Front Porch Cabbage for a salad. The Spaghetti for pasta. For the main the Halibut. So the wife and youngest got the Crete Di Gallo which was yummy. It had seabass in it and had a white sauce. My oldest had the Marin Coast Halibut which was cooked nicely and she liked it. I has the Klingeman Ranch Pork Shoulder Chop. It was perfectly cooked and juicy not dry. The sauce and beans were nice along with the figs, which were nice touch. I liked the flavor and it was really good. I of course had to try the Onion Bread Pudding. I love bread pudding and always get it if it's available. This was savory and I really liked it. It was hard to cut the Speck Ham but use the steak knife hahha. Oh and we got the Tomato & Shin Li Pear. I figured we would like and it it was good. The heirloom tomatoes were great. The food was amazing here and I will be back when in the area. It is a really cute place. There is parking down the street , not to far at all. A few bars along the way and a pizza joint across the street. Worth trying out for sure.

Even before our visit, the staff we spoke with on the phone came across as rude and unhelpful. Thankfully, once we were seated, our waitress was very nice, attentive, and probably the best part of the experience. The food, however, was very disappointing. My wife ordered the steak medium-well, but it came out medium-rare, which was frustrating because her requested temperature seemed to have been completely ignored. I ordered the Marin Coast Halibut. The fish lacked seasoning to the point that I had to ask for salt just to give it some flavor. The sauce was also completely cold, which made the dish even less enjoyable. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected much better execution. For dessert, we tried the Milk & Honey. It sounded interesting, but the honeycomb component basically tasted like hardened sugar and was overwhelmingly sweet rather than adding anything special to the dessert. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and our waitress provided good service, but between the difficulty getting a reservation, the unpleasant phone interaction, improperly cooked steak, and disappointing food, I don't understand the high ratings. For the price and reputation, we expected a much better meal. Unfortunately, I don't think we would return.
