Let me start off by saying the food here is DELICIOUS!!!!! I highly recommend the carpaccio if you haven't tried it. Or, if you're like me, you can order it every time you go to Fratello's. Everything I've had is so tasty, even the drinks. They have a great Chianti as well. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. But the food....did I mention the food is delicious? 10/10 recommend!!

Bruschetta

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant. We wanted Italian food and the reviews and photos looked good. We had a very nice dinner and the service was very attentive. The ambiance is okay, neither upscale nor romantic. It is a great family restaurant. We both started with a glass of wine, bruschetta, and the artichoke hearts. My husband also had a house salad which he enjoyed. Everything was very good. My husband ordered the veal Saltimbocca and I had the veal piccata. Each entree was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley of carrots, zucchini and broccoli. The veal was tender and delicious and vegetables were cooked perfectly. We cleaned our plates. We ended with a piece of the lemon cake and it was fresh, moist, and delicious. We will return.

Tiramisu (5/5)

Located in the heart of downtown Livermore, Fratello's Ristorante is easily accessible with plenty of parking right across the street. My review is based on our Valentine's Day experience, which featured a prix fixe menu at $60 per person. This included a glass of sparkling wine, a choice of soup (broccoli or lobster bisque) or salad (Caesar or spring mix), an entrée (salmon aurora, short rib, steak, sea bass, or lobster ravioli), and tiramisu for dessert. I ordered the lobster bisque (1/5), the steak (2/5), and tiramisu (5/5). My partner had the same selections except for the entrée, choosing the sea bass instead, which unfortunately came with mushy risotto. While the food was hit or miss, the service was outstanding. The staff was attentive and made the evening enjoyable despite the underwhelming meal. After reading other reviews, we're looking forward to returning to try their full menu, as it seems their regular offerings may be a better representation of what they have to offer.

We used to go to Fratello's at the old location, and frequently did takeout. We're very pleased with the new location (despite still missing Anita's!) and finally made it over there. The interior was bright and uncluttered, with the booths replaced by tables. Some of the murals are still there. We were happy to see the old crew there, and service was very quick and friendly. I still really like their bread and oil/vinegar combo. The Wife had a chicken dish, and I noticed that they had a scampi dish, but not entree, so I asked them about making me a scampi with linguine, which they did. And it was really well done, shrimp perfectly cooked. The lemon cake was as good as always, and the creme brulee was excellent. Nice pour for my montepulciano. We'll be back.

This restaurant has absolutely fabulous food! It looks deceiving from the outside because of the curtains in the windows being closed. It would be wonderful if they can advertise with a big sign or something to bring attention to that place. They have a great selection of food. They make their own sangria. The service was great! Definitely try it out. You won't be disappointed.

Don't trust these posted hours. Call first and make sure they are actually open.

My first visit was for lunch on Monday, December 2. Their website indicates they are open at 11:30 am on Mondays. Got there at 11:45. Temporary paper sign on the door indicated they were closed that particular Monday for some reason, who knows. Thanks, got in the car and headed for another restaurant. Decided to try again on Monday, December 23 at 11:30 am. The door was locked, the lights were off, and no one was inside. Lovely. Called their number and just got their answering machine. Waited a few minutes and then left for another restaurant. Obviously, this is a little family restaurant and if you don't want to work on a particular day that you are suppose to be open, you just don't go to the restaurant to open. Very professional. If I ever want to try this restaurant again, seems unlikely, I will definitely call and make sure someone is actually at the restaurant and the restaurant is actually open. Don't trust their website hours. Maybe their food is the greatest, but I never got a chance to try it since they weren't open on both of my attempts; however, I do thank them for wasting my time. Very courteous and very professional.

Went here for dinner and absolutely loved all of our food. We also got the appetizer of calamari and beef carpaccio, so delicious!! But I forgot to take a picture. They are a newly opened restaurant, it was wine and beer only for now they said. The ambiance could use a little help, but the staff and service were excellent, and the food to die for! Definitely give it a try.

Definitely not worth $60 Overpriced!!

Decided to try their New Location for dinner tonight, . ( To Go Order ) TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!! We ordered The Lasagna and Seafood Ravioli Very small serving size and expensive!! Servings per meal were a child size portion. The Seafood had maybe 5 small raviolis and 3 shrimp ??? The Lasagna had one inch of sauce and little meat and maybe a sprinkle of cheese, because I could barely taste it. They did give a GENEROUS bag of BREAD ... Additionally you have to pay extra if you use a Card, rather than Cash! The food wasn't that bad, but way overpriced!! I definitely wouldn't return!!

This place (obviously) has great reviews so I decided to go. And it certainly meets the hype The staff was very friendly--I let them know it's my first time there so I needed a bit of time to look over the menu--and they were very helpful letting me know the options. I got the Friday I'm In Love and it was amazing. Great size, absolutely packed with meat, amazing flavor. This was a 10/10. The garlic spread was delicious, the slaw was seasoned very well, and everything was very fresh and flavorful. Dutch crunch also had great texture. My only possible complaint was that the meat wasn't very evenly distributed as you can see in the pic, but that's a very minor complaint. To reiterate, this was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Unfortunately I'm not very close to Livermore, but anytime I'm close by in the future, I absolutely want to stop by again. I highly, highly recommend this place for a sandwich!

The special, chicken thighs stuffed with smoked ham, was standout and memorable. The margarita pizza is exactly what you want it to be. It is simple, well executed, and perfect for sharing. Do not let the "small" size fool you. It is easily enough for two, maybe even three if you are catching up over drinks. Portions across the board are generous. The fish entrees are especially impressive. The salmon alone felt like it had to be close to half a pound. All of this comes at prices that feel more than fair for the quality and quantity you are getting. This is definitely a spot worth returning to. We started our meal with appetizers--Mama Carmela's Meatballs were three oversized meatballs in tomato sauce, topped with Parmesan and crostini (garlic toast); the Fritto Misto was a plate of lightly breaded Monterey calamari, tiger prawns, zucchini, and artichokes, served with a side of creamy capri sauce for dipping; and the Octopus All'insalata was a salad of lightly dressed arugula, olives, cherry tomatoes, and fennel, topped with tender pieces of octopus tentacle. The appetizers were decent, but the real highlight of this restaurant was their freshly-baked pizzas. The Amalfi was a light, summery combination of yellow San Marzano tomato sauce, fiori di latte, burrata, pesto, and red Sicilian Datterino tomatoes; and the Norcina was an aromatic, umami combination of truffle crema, fiori di latte, Italian sausage, and mushrooms. Both were absolutely delicious, and the best part was the authentic Neapolitan pizza crust--thin, light, and chewy all at the same time! Overall, this was a fantastic dining destination with quick, friendly service and a beautiful atmosphere too.

Recently, I made tandoori lamb chops (my favorite dish) with their American lamb, and it was honestly one of the best versions I've ever made (photo attached). A few extra notes: * Go during the week if you can. It's less crowded and the experience is more personal -- you get to actually talk to the folks behind the counter. * The walkways are tight. Not their fault, just something to be aware of if you're on the taller or bigger side. * Hours can be tough for a 9-to-5.
