It's very small and unassuming, and with such an out-of-the-way location and understated exterior it is really easy to miss if you just happen to be passing by. On the plus side, the café is very cozy and quiet for exactly these same reasons. We ended up trying several of their specialty croissants, and we were NOT disappointed! They carry multiple unique flavours as well as the simpler classics, but you honestly can't go wrong no matter what you pick. Every croissant was flakey, buttery, and wholly delicious. Give this place a try, you won't regret it

Online ordering and pickup was easy. The staff also waited for us to pick up the cake at 6pm. The site said that their cakes were not too sweet and it's absolutely true. The cake was fresh - the sponge cake was soft and cream was fresh.

They have a fairly small selection and sell out of items over the course of the day, so they're not a great after dinner dessert place, and the prices are fairly high considering the small portion sizes, but if you don't mind the price and can hazard the parking here, it's worth a visit. The person who works here (the owner?) seems really into providing good service, but this place just opened and they're still getting things figured out, so there can be a bit of a wait even when you're only in line behind one or two people. Based on how much the owner seems to care about good service and good food, I'd expect to this to improve over time, but I'll have to check back here to see how the service is in a few months.

I received with a box of assorted pastries, a box of wife cakes, and $30 in gift cards. This is my honest review of my visit and I wasn't required to post a review. When I came into the store, the staff were confused about what I was trying to pick up at first, but it was quickly resolved when the manager came to the front counter and I explained to her that I was one of the contest winners. The queue was short because not many customers was inside at the time so I was in and out pretty quickly. The store area was spacious and there were quite a lot of pastries on display. The pastries i received were beautifully boxed. They could definitely be presented as gifts to loved ones or work colleagues. The box was gold and red, with a golden foiled design on the lid and a gold string ribbon to keep the lid closed. The pastries themselves were gorgeous. Just looking at them made my mouth water. They were soft and crumbly to the touch. The buns of the pastry were buttery and the outer layer was very flaky with every bite. Some of the pastry buns had sesame seeds sprinkled on the top. They were all baked perfectly. The inside fillings were quite sweet but no overly sweet. There was no indication on the box on what kind of pastries they were so im not totally sure what kind of pastries i received. Some had a sweet tasting filling with an egg yolk or a century egg center, just red bean paste, or just some other type of sweet filling. I shared the pastries with my family over afternoon green tea and they were a hit! My family loved them. The wife cakes I received were very soft, tasted delicious, and sweet but not as sweet as the assorted pastries. They were filled with winter melon filling, i believe. They were also made a great pairing when they were served with tea. They were all individually wrapped with plastic wrap which helped keep them fresh. The boxed was also nicely designed with gold and red colors. My family really liked them. Overall, i think Kam Do bakery is one of the best Chinese bakeries in Richmond. Gotta give them 5 stars for their absolutely delicious pastries.

Pineapple Bun: I really wanted to get the Bo Lo Yo, but apparently, this location of Kam Do doesn't offer it, so I settled for a regular Pineapple Bun. Not doing this with butter is such a shame though because for a not super fresh pineapple bun, THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. Fluffy and not dry at all in the center. Thick cookie crust was the perfect level of sweet. If this was fresh, I think I would have died on the spot.

Everything had a nice texture, not too rich or doughy. Well sized, so you can cut and share. Too bad we live too far away to frequent this place more often. I had my hands full with the cake box and all, so the cashier went out of her way to open the door for me!
