Had high hopes for this place given the reviews, but I'm gonna chalk it up to a bad day. Service was just horrible, server tried to remember the order and forgot a dish, so one person watched everyone else eat and when we finished, his food showed up. We never got our coffee and then they mixed up our tea with sweet rather then unsweet. Get it together guys. We got the menudo, tripa taco, and a barbacoa taco. Menudo was descent, barbacoa was ok, had to ask for cilantro and onions, tripa taco was the better. Tortillas are not fresh made, we might return but not likely. I would give service 1 star, food was 3. They did comp the late meal. read more

Meh..I really don't get all the fawning reviews. This is TexMex fare as mediocre as it comes. Everything is over-salted, which I would normally think might be a ploy to increase cerveza and 'rita sales. Except for one thing: Garcia's does. Not. Sell. Alcohol. Yep..a Mexican restaurant bereft of margaritas or Dos Equis. WTF? Don't get me wrong, the joint is OK. But why go back unless you lived like three blocks away or something, when there's so many many good/better TexMex offerings in the area? Ones where you can get a cold beer or a Cuervo Rita, amigos! Garcia's offers one of the most delicious chili rellenos I have ever eaten (and I have tried many!) In addition, the chips were light and crisp and the salsa was tasty and spicy. Tried them while visiting my daughter in Buda over Christmas. Ordered a shrimp fajita meal and a chicken fajita meal to go along with guacamole and chips. The guacamole was the best part and it was nothing really special. Unfortunately the beans were bland, the rice bland and the fajitas didn't have enough veggies in them to taste like much of anything. Admittedly, I'm from central California so maybe I'm used to a different style of Mexican food, but at best all I can say is bland, boring, basic & uninspired. I can only assume from the good reviews that there is nothing in Buda to compare it to. I gave it two stars since it wasn't horrible but there's no real reason to ever go back either. read more

For breakfast this spot is where to go! Food was made quickly and hot, and delicious! The cost is reasonable and we got in and out quickly on a Sunday after church. Definitely would recommend for a small group, seating is crowded so wouldn't go with a large group. read more

We had the Chile Relleno, brisket and veggies, guacamole, and queso con carne. The guacamole was creamy and the queso was really good. I am a Chile Relleno connoisseur...and I think it was the best I ever had. The Ranchero sauce was fantastic. Chips were fresh, salsa was on point. We may take the 2.5 hour road trip just to go eat and walk around Buda. It is a small restaurant with some out door patio seating. The staff was kind, happy, and quick! Delicious Mexican food in downtown Buda! Those looking for spicy food might try elsewhere, but for my family, it was perfect. We all had enchilada plates of different varieties-- beef, chicken, and shrimp. No upcharge for shrimp unlike most places! There was seating both indoors and outdoors, as well as to-go ordering, but we chose outdoors. The servers were very friendly and checked in on us during our stay. The food was ready quickly. The chips were also remarkably tasty-- crunchy and salty, which was welcome on a hot day to replenish the salts we lost to sweat earlier in the day-- and we were offered an additional basket of chips after we gobbled up the first! Salsa was yummy too (flavorful and not too spicy). Very reasonable pricing; our meals were all under $10 yet dinner-sized! Bathrooms were available even in COVID-19 precautions and was clean (I saw employees checking on it regularly after customer use during our stay). Got a to-go box on the way out. Nice off the beaten path restaurant that is well worth the trip. We went last night for a late dinner. Wait was minimal and service was outstanding. The wait staff made sure the chips & salsa never ran out. You can't go wrong eating at Garcias. I still prefer the original, but this one is very good. We went to lunch at Garcia's restaurant today and everything was wonderful. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We sat on the outside deck and had a great meal. My wife had chicken fajitas and I had a three enchilada plate. All of the food was very good. We will definitely be back. read more

Not too good this time Garcia's. Lo Siento Mucho. I think I like their Breakfast better than their dinner service. Granted I had a big family gathering that evening, the service was a struggle. I think I counted only 3 servers for the entire restaurant on a Friday evening. I also noticed that the folks walking up to the to go window were getting their food much faster than all of us folks sitting down inside and outside. Perhaps they called in ahead but still, very noticeable. The Chips and Salsa were on point and Thank God for that because I always forget that part of town is a dry county. No Margaritas for this Señorita! So Agua con Lemon it was that evening. I ordered the Beef Fajitas. First of all, I like it when my Fajitas sizzle on their way to my face! These Fajitas were not sizzling. As a matter of fact, they were a little cool and very chewy. Yikes!!! Needless to say, I was starving and felt like if I asked the Lady Manager to remake them, I would be probably be there all night. So I sucked it up. All in all the consensus from the family of 9 who all ate there said they have had better more tastier meals from Garcia's. Wow, I decided not to get a drive through breakfast somewhere and I'm glad I came here instead. Everything was wonderful! This restaurant required us to wait outside for a table which is fine but it was cold outside and when we got inside they wanted to take my temperature and the thermometer kept reading "low "so the hostess attempted to take my temperature about seven times which was super annoying having that thermometer shoved in my face. I tried to explain to her that if the temperature is reading low it's because the surface of my forehead is cold and therefore I do not have a high temperature but she insisted on repeating the attempts to take my temperature which was extremely aggravating to have a thermometer shoved in my face time after time. read more

We have been eating at Garcia's for over 20 years. Our Granddaughters drive here from Lampasas Just from memories of going there when they were young. They love the food. Know we have another set that loves it too. I would recommend Garcia's to anyone. It's not to spicy for me and is spicy for my husband. We have always got wonderful service. The place is nice, cozy, friendly, people are wonderful! The chips and salsa are not that great if you expect something spicy or homemade chips. But, it's great for kids since it's not spicy. It's a BYOB- so remember that - no margaritas. The enchiladas are good, all types. The tostadas are tasty. They make the best pancakes ever! read more

Pretty convenient Mexican restaurant located in downtown Buda. It's BYOB which is nice and the staff is fast and friendly. The food is good for being in a small town. We were a party of 6 and got great service. They have a nice outside patio and also a Togo area! Parking can be rough on a busy Friday but it's worth it. read more

Must be a front for money laundering or something because it was completely empty and I couldn't get served, I saw they don't serve alcohol which is odd. Not sure how they make money.
