I am a person who loves pizza and I really enjoyed eating my meal at Ganni's Pizza. The woman who took my order was nice and friendly. She thanked me for my business which is rare because some businesses don't do that anymore. You can opt to take out or dine in because they do have seating. This little hole in the wall shop doesn't look like much at first glance, but it is has everything you need for a quick lunch. You can order two garlic knots for $1! They aren't anything extraordinary but will do what it needs to satisfy a craving. For me, cheese pizza is a safety choice. It is my go-to if I want something simple. Their cheese pizza was exactly that. Again, it is nothing extravagant. It is only as good as cheese pizza goes. Each slice was pretty massive and $3 each. In total, I spent $7! A steal if you ask me. Honestly, I dislike writing bad reviews but the food here was horrible and it took forever to be made, customer service was good though which is unfortunate. First, we ordered buffalo wings, a cheesesteak, fries and pizza slices. Buffalo wings definitely had a weird taste to them for buffalo wings they were actually kinda sweet, and were not crispy at all. The cheesesteak, please do not order this.. first the meat was completely over cooked with small burnt pieces, it was barely filled with anything in the bread and we asked for lettuce added to it. They did not even have the lettuce chopped, please see the picture to see what I'm referring to, it was as they took the ice berg lettuce, cut it in half and just threw it on top. The French fries were extremely greasy. I stated the customer service was good because they were friendly even after we complained about the cheesesteak and sent it back they were still nice to us and understanding without charging us for it. We asked for two slices of plain pizza which had absolutely no flavor which was disappointing again. I stopped in here last night after hanging out a nearby bar for a bacon chicken ranch slice. They get a star for being open after 1 am. I was able to get in and out. The slice was $4. However the flavor was meh nothing special. The chicken was little dry the ranch had great flavor and the bacon was crispy I think chicken needs more flavor. Convenience is what wins out here and the service was decent I can't complain about that another star for their service. I pretty much knew what to expect from looking at other reviews. I have been coming here for close to 7 years now. On paper, this is exactly like every other just-alright slice spot in Brooklyn, except they're open insanely late and it's just as affordable as ever. The cheese slice is better than a dollar spot and better than most pizza outside New York (duh), but it's nothing amazing. Vegetarians, you'll give this a solid 3 stars and call it a day. I get you. Tip if you stop in, they're exceedingly nice. In practice though, one item on the menu stands between you and the best choice you will make with your day. Or the worst choice, if you ask a doctor. It's a little of both. I'm talking about the one...the only... PEPPERONI BACON SLICE. It is almost always available at any hour of the day, the bacon is real and perfectly smoked, and it's the right mix of meat and grease and cheese and perfectly-crisped crust to sober you up if you made some more questionable choices earlier. It's INSANELY fresh, always, and they're usually making a second pie of it at night when you walk in because the first one goes that fast. If everything on the menu was this, other pizza shop owners would need to re-evaluate their choices. But I don't want to dwell on the other slices. I want to talk about this one. It's the hands-down, not for tourists, slap-your-momma-and-send-her-a-salami-from-Katz's best damned pepperoni bacon slice in the entirety of New York City. Maybe the world. (I've had a lot of pizza, if you can't tell from how excitedly I am writing about food right now.) It's not perfect in the way that, say, Di Fara's margarita slice is, but it is perfect in the way that only something so on-paper gross and fatty made so ridiculously well can be. I mean it's called Ganni's Pizza not fries. I drove past this place many times before I decided to try it and I have no regrets! Just ordered food arrived within 25 min hot. I ordered a Cheese & antipasto salad. People were friendly & the potion of the calzone is enough to feed me for at least two meals. Tony's on Dekalb is the best, without a doubt, but Tony is just one guy. He doesn't do delivery, he isn't open until 3AM, and he doesn't have the expansive menu of Ganni's. When Tony's is closed and I'm hankering for some pizza, a cheesesteak, or a huge order of garlic knots, I come here. The pizza is pretty good by New York standards and the service is always friendly. I still really love how late they're open, perfect for night owls or people coming back from late night partying. So I grew up in Queens, and moved to California, and when I come back into town it is Really Really Important to get a slice of Good New York Pizza, because boy do they not do that stuff right anywhere west of the Hudson River. Unfortunately, neither do they do it right here. I was dubious when I looked at the slices and saw them more cheesy than tomato-y, but I figured, ok, well at least the flavors should be right, and at 11pm not that many other places were open around here. Nope. There wasn't enough sauce, the crust was crispy and didn't flop, it was too bready and cheesy and there just wasn't that oozy blending of layers into a synchronous succulent whole. Very unsatisfied with my last visit... At least three times out of the week after work I come in for two slice and a drink. Today I just wanted 1 slice and a drink. The lady who and always takes my order then went to tell me the minimum is $7 which I already knew because we been here before. Then the upsell begins when she tries telling me to buy cookies that's days old,burnt and not to mention it's priced over the $2 I didn't want to spend. I told the lady I didn't want to spend extra money on something that I don't want and it's old. She then begins to catch an attitude as she snatches the pizza and drink off the counter then and ignore me as if I didn't exist anymore. What trips me out is this same lady charged me for a slice and soda before and never gave me any bad energy or been rude but today you lost a customer. Well, I said I'd come by again, and I did. This time, I went with some pizza and some chicken parm on pasta. The difference really is night and day! The chicken quality was admittedly still a bit mcnuggety (basically, don't order anything with chicken), but the sauce was excellent this time around, and the pasta was good as well (though when I asked for it "al dente", all I got was blank looks.) It came with bread, and all told, was an ok meal at a great value. I had come absolutely famished however, and knew I wanted to try the pizza, and that's what really keeps this place afloat. Now -that- is some pizza! Trouble is, the rest of their food is pretty unfortunate, so their overall, not so great. Still loud too. Not so much a romantic date spot. read more

Perhaps I ordered on an off-night or too late at the night, but the pie that was delivered to my apartment at 11pm on Sunday was not a real pizza. The first time I walked in here a couple years ago right after it first opened I was really disappointed. It wasn't the neighborhood drunk harassing the customers or the weird-looking toppings (breaded chicken or chopped raw vegies) it was the taste of a plain slice - a rule I judge every pizza joint from. A frozen Totino's would taste better and that is a sad state of affairs. But after taking a sabbatical from visiting or ordering I gave the place another chance and the food has improved ten-fold. The pizza has turned from cardboarded bread to soft yet crunchy on the edges, the flavorless sauce is now rich but not overpowering and the cheese perfectly evened out. Me and the rest of the tenants in my building adore Ganni's. Their pizza is fantastic. I often go in there to get a slice, rather than a pie for delivery because, as is the case with most pizza joints, whilst being delivered the pizza steams itself and loses its crunchy crust. Who wants one's crunchy crust lost? Not I. You can actually taste the cheese, the sauce is well seasoned, and of course, that ever-beloved crust. The garlic knots here are killer, too. They're open til 2:30 during the week and 3:30 or 4 on the weekend. They freakin rule. Today is a rainy, miserable day. My girlfriend wanted pizza and the best option was the mediocre-at-best Ganni's pizza down the street. She offered to pay and sent me off with her credit card to grab a few slices. I happily walked there, placed our order and waited as the pizza was reheated. As I waited there at a small table I watched several customers make purchases by card without issue. My order, finally ready, come sout and the woman behind the counter (hereafter known as "mom" from the 16 year old also working the counter) asked if I wanted to top it. I did, and handed my girlfriend's credit card to the kid for $11 worth of pizza. He asked me for my ID. I explained to him that I was using my girlfriend's card to purchase the pizza since she didn't want to come out in the rain. He then asked for my ID to prove I was her (again). When I explained the situation, he called "MOM!!!" and the other lady came over to say that I would have to have my girlfriend come over to purchase the pizza. I then offered, under much frustration, my own credit card and ID. She then challenged me by asking why the names on the ID and credit card were different. One read: Doe, John and the other John Doe. After pointing out her completely misguided attempt at identifying me and explained what her confusion might be, she dumped the pizza in the trash and told me to leave. Fuck this place. Fuck it. Bad Pizza, terrible service, and treated me like a criminal. The only good thing about this joint is that they have late night pizza that's edible. Staff is pretty laid back & chill as well but not lazy- except with keeping the table-booths clean....and who knows what else. All I know is I only go here late at night when options are slim and it's literally always dirty. Then....you ice that cake by throwing all of these random flat pieces of what tasted like a cross between gyro meat, old sausage and hamburger formed into bizarre non-meatball shapes that look like floaters on top & called that spaghetti & meatballs. Upon the first forkful, I had to just laugh at & kick the life out of myself for even HOPING I could get pasta from the late night dirty basic ass pizza spot. I even tried to salvage the dish by scooping out the rando-meat floaters & just asked for extra sauce incase the sauce was just watery from the undrained noodles ....But there was no mistake - the sauce was the same watery horror show on the side as the sauce already in the noodles....the reality was that there was absolutely no salvation for the "dish". I ate a few more bites of the noodles bc I was crazy starving & threw out the rest....guess I saved a lot of calories at least. Moral of the story: stick to pizza here. This is a fantastic pizzeria! First of all, there is a gentleman who works here -- I like to think it's Ganni himself because he seems to be in charge -- who consistently is the friendliest and sweetest pizzaman I've ever met. Granted you might not be looking for a smile with your slice and that's okay; luckily for you, everyone else that works here is a total grouch. Ganni clearly puts care into his pizza (hello veggie slice) as well his interactions with customers. The plain slice is kind of cheesy but I have a soft spot for that: Also the crust is a little on the floury side but I'm into that.
