The food quality overall was really bad. Considering how much they charge you for the quality of food you are getting, I would never come back to this restaurant. First of all, Seolleongtang is what they are known for. We ordered 1 Teuk Seolleongtang, 1 Seolleongtang, 1 Bossam, 1 Kimchi Dolsot Bibimbap. Teuk Seolleongtang has more meat and some extra stuff than regular. After Bossam came out, we were expecting regular Seolleongtang to come out at the same time or right after the other. However, the Teuk Seolleongtang came with the Kimchi dolsot and we received Seolleongtang when we were almost done eating. All of them tasted like it was pre-made and they were just heating it up. Seolleongtang was just lukewarm and Kimchi dolsot had a weird scent which was unpleasant to eat. Bossam (boiled pork) smelled really bad, probably came from the bad cooking of pork. When we told them about the Bossam, they took our dish and never came back with it until we asked them what they were doing. They were re-making it which was finished when we were done eating. The manager didn't seem like he knew our situation and was just busy with other customers. Although we walked out with the take-out bossam, I'm really disappointed with the food quality, the time they took to resolve the problem, and the service they showed. read more

This used to be a solid place to go for late night sullungtang, but havent been here in a while since I heard service and food went down the drain. Regardless, we decided to give it a try one night since we were feeling sick and wanted a hearty bowl of soup. We got the sam gye tang and the sul lung tang as well as one order of their soo yook. The food was good, nothing exceptional, but i would be hesitant to come back because of the spotty service. Not one time after serving the food did any of the waiters come to check up on us. Our water was dry, kimchi was empty, and i never was able to get someones attention to ask for another bowl. They only showed up when we asked for the check. We came late, around 11pm, but since the restaurant is open 24/7, honestly this kind of service isnt called for. If we came at 3 am when there was only one waiter we would be more understanding, but the waiters were sitting at a table like customers. We got the attention of one girl but she only stood up from her seat, looked at us, and then sat back down. As good and reliable as the food is, i would rather spend my money elsewhere where i feel more welcomed and catered for. Even though the menu isn't extensive, everything is good. For a quaint place, it's always busy and they're known for their awesome kim-chee! FOOD: I always get their hae-mul pa jun(seafood pancake) which is ok. It's a small portion but a good appetizer for a couple of ppl. For lunch I got their dol-sot-bi-bim-bap(mixed vegetable on rice in a stone bowl) which is a good portion and decent. Since their kim-chee is so good, everything tastes better. read more

This was our favorite restaurant until tonight. Back in Covid time, the food quality was deteriorated but it came back in past 1-2 years, so we have been to this place regularly, a couple of times a month. Today, when I ordered, Sukyuk, and pancake, and I felt very salty taste. It turned out the dipping sauce is extremely salty (this place, they only offer 1 kind of dipping sauce for Sukyuk, pancake, Mandoo, etc.). I ordered vinegar to make it more modest but it did not work. It was completely different from their regular dipping sauce which looks much thinner, and tasted good. I claimed it to the server and the manager, but they did not say anything, kind of ignored what I claimed (no word for apologies). Maybe the head chef was out, or they changed the ingredient, but how can we trust the restaurant like this who does not know what they are serving and ignore customers claim? My first time here since their newly renovated opening. (Which was already a while ago) One painting of bunch of black thin messy lines creeped me out a bit but I tried not to look at it too much. Lol. I'm so happy they offer mung bean pancake app that's not $14+ dollars! Granted they're bit smaller but who wants to spend $14+ on pancake! It was perfect size app for 2 people in my opinion. It is a warm food, but it is lukewarm. 3. Cuttlefish pork belly is called bulgogi and pork belly is not thick pork belly but very thin pork belly. 4 Service is too slow. I will not visit again. This restaurant used to be legit, get food 24/7 and great spot to cure a hangover. The pandemic understandably changed these circumstances. I feel bad that all restaurants are suffering right now but I think it's unreasonable to charge $28.99 for Bossam and give an insulting (very little) amount of food. Ordered ssullungtang deluxe, got charged for it but got regular version. I tried ordering ssullungtang from this place last week through Doordash only to find out 30-45 minutes later that they ran out (it was 11:30AM...) of it and my order was cancelled. Excuse me but how do you run out of your signature dish at noon....That's like going to a hamburger shop to be told that you ran out of beef patties. I've come to this place more times than I can count, for both takeout and dine-in. The restaurant is open 24 hours. The prices have gone up over the years and now the sulungtong is priced way too expensively at $13 a bowl. Such a shame. The highlights of this place include sulungtong (ox tail soup) and kimchi. Flavor the sulungtong with green onions, salt and pepper and it tastes really good. The sulongtong is known to cure a hangover. The kimchi comes with the meal and is some of the best I've had. It has a very original flavor to it. I have also tried the dolsot bimbimbap (rice with vegetables in a hot stone bowl - the rice gets crispy due to the heat of the bowl) and the kalbi. Only two other reviews of this popular joint? What gives?! Gotta get some Korean people in New Jersey and New York to Yelp. The seolleongtang here is so good. I just find it a little weird that they already mix the rice into the soup before they bring it out. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I wanted to save some of the rice for the really tasty galbi we also ordered. The yukgaejang is excellent too albeit very spicy and I don't recall the waitress asking how we wanted it prepared. (Perhaps you don't get the option to.) The dolsot bibimbap was also really good. This place is open 24/7, they have a soju and sake bar, wooden flooring and, if you'd like, an area where you can sit on the floor family style and eat on a bap sang. (My apologies to the one or two non-Koreans checking out this review for not translating the dishes but I'm getting lazier and lazier with each review I write...just Google it.) This place is a solid 24 hr eatery in Fort Lee, the clientele is mostly Korean, but I went with some Korean friends. The ambiance is very straight forward and the service was quick and efficient. The food: Seolleong Tang Deluxe- White Ox-bone stock soup with beef brisket, tongue, tendon and tripe. I thought this was great, I really enjoyed the flavor and it would have been even better in the Winter time. First things first, I tried the dish as is since that is how I taste everything, but with this dish and a lot of Korean dishes, you have to make adjustments before hand. Before eating, the addition of the table side salt and scallions is imperative, it makes all the difference in the world. After the adjustments, the broth has a nice milky and beefy essence with a ton of tendon and nice cuts of brisket. Wang Jokbal- Sliced steam-softened pettitoes with a side of special house sauce. In English, it's pork feet, the pork is nice and tender with a nice gelatinous texture, the flavor of the pork is on the mild side but the addition of the special house sauce adds a lot of depth of flavor. I thought this was good, but I wish the pork had more flavor. Soondae Guk- Korean blood sausage in white ox-bone and pig bone broth with pork stomach, heart,and beef tongue. I thought the broth was great but I wasn't really sold on the other items. I love soondae but the one here was just OK and they were kinda skimpy with the amount. The pork stomach, heart and beef tongue didn't have much flavor even after the red paste addition or the dip in the salty dried shrimp sauce. I have been going to this place since I was a kid. I just came by for the first time in years and a lot has changed. I was the only table along with my mother. The food took 45 minutes come out and it took 45 minutes to receive a check. Eventually got frustrated and just asked for my change at the register and left. best food to get after a night of drinking. definitely get the sulungtang. Which is ox bone soup with white rice and white thin noodles. The soup is cooked with bone and meat on them for a long time until the color gets white and milky. You add lots of scallion on top of it and salt as you like. Very good to help sober you up or when you are sick Their kimchi was very good too. And they cut it right in front of you from the jar. This is my go to late-night spot. The Seollungtang and Galbijim are my absolutely favorites. I always get those 2 dishes when I am there. The kimchi is also fantastic. I ordered the steamed beef once and it wasn't that great and the cheese dukbokki and it wasn't great either. The pajjeon isn't bad, just make sure to ask for it extra crispy. Really unimpressed, service was horrendous (not even exaggerating) and this place is so overpriced for some of their items. I got the Oxtail Soup with noodles and for $23 there was barely any broth and noodles. 3 small and 2 large tail pieces with normal amounts of meat on them. I asked one of the servers if it's normal to have so little noodles and he said he didn't know cause he was new - then just stood there... I then prompted to have him ask, only to return with a bowl of noodles that were all dumped in my bowl of soup - soaking up the rest of the broth... I didn't ask for 5-6 ounces of extra noodles. We also got the knee cartilage salad which was pretty good, for $22 and big portions , spicy dressing is a little on the sweeter side. Now service... The staff were kind and the food came out quickly, let me put that out there. However, I feel like they had no clue what they were doing and how to do it. It seemed like one of the FOH managers were running a station and not actual paying attention to how the servers were doing their job. There was 4 FOH running around and we were the first out of 5 tables that were there by the time we left. They were more consumed with sending out the take out orders than being concerned with how they were servicing their customers who were physically in front of them. Overall, very glad to see there are other Korean spots in the area. This will not be a place I'd return, and it's a shame because the food was very decent. Yes their kimchee is ridiculously delicious and their sulungtang is good but let's be honest, their sulungtang is not mind-blowing and worthy of being priced $2-3 more than other places. I used to love getting their bindaedduk (bean pancake) here when they would give 3 for $9 but now you have to pay $5 for 1. Forget it. I love bindaedduk but not that much. One of my favorite dishes there is their dolsamkimbap which is basically spicy pork over rice in a stone bowl. It is delicious although I wish it came with a small sulungtang soup rather than the beansprout soup it comes with. Unfortunately there is nowhere else to go past 2am in the area when you need a good late-night meal but I find myself going there less and less as they keep increasing their prices. read more

It was a winter day and they kept the front door open for "ventilation" which resulted in it being freezing inside. Now who does not like a Korean restaurant that is open 24 hours 7 days a week? I know I do! This is the reason why I am such a fan of this place. Came here quite a few times over the last couple of years after big nights out on the town. Always did the job and satisfied my Calbi cravings. Overall it's an energetic place, no matter what hour it is. Serves beer and liquor and is also clean. Service is decent, not the best not the worst. Last night was the first time in awhile that I stopped by this place with a friend. In my opinion the quality of the food has went downhill over the years. We wanted to order dumplings and were disappointed in the fact that they did not have any more available. Whomp Whomp. On the table we were presented mini apps to start such as kimchi, that white stringy cabbage stuff (don't know the actual name), lettuce and bean paste. The lettuce was a yellowish color and was not exactly as fresh as it could have been. For dinner, we ordered the Calbi. They cooked it themselves. The seasoning was good, however, the dish itself consisted of a lot of bones and the portion was small. The rice was also pretty dry and they also could have been more attentive with my water refills. For the price you pay there are other places in the area that will present bigger portions, fresher food and more mini apps. Second time visiting this place on a Sunday. First time I was here, I tried Seol Leong Tang which I thought was decent- but I wasn't surprised. Tasted just as I expected. Kimchi, however, was pretty good. I checked in today a little after 9 still a bit hungover, and ordered Hae Mul PaJeon and Soon Dae Gook. PaJeon was good but the base for Soon Dae Gook was very bland and didn't have any strong flavor in a broth like some other places (Byung Chun Soon Dae for example)- which I don't mind. I think it deserves 3.5 stars. As for Kimchi, it was decent as well. I would give 3.5 stars but if I had to pick between 3 and 4, it would be 3. Still a decent place to go if you're not sure about what to get in the early mornings. read more

Horrible service!! 2 female emloyee were busy to talk each other, did not care for the customers. The sulung-tang was not hot at all. When i asked heat it up she was not happy. And other waiters were the same. They were like mute, did not talk to cistomers at all. When i asked the check, she just dropped on the table. We ordered 4 seol leung tang for to go and drove 1 hour to get home. When opened the bag, we found it was only 3/4 full and the content was so thin that it tasted like water. We are Korean and have eaten this soup for half a decade and never seen this kind of unconsciousness business. We are bringing back all of this for full return plus two hours of wasted time and gas. Came here for late-night munchies w/ a group, 4 strong. So, so thankful that there is a good Korean spot open 24/7 and just 12 minutes from Harlem by car. Service was attentive, even at god-forsaken 4:30 am. The kimchi & kkakdugi were wonderfully tangy and the seolleongtang was righteous for my withered soul. I have a soft spot in my heart for Gam Mee Ok, but please go knowing what you're in for. Gam Mee Ok isn't your typical Korean restaurant with plentiful Korean options, they specialize in just a few dishes. Their specialty is the Sullungtang/Ox bone soup. Make sure to season it to your taste and add green onions. There are rice and noodles inside, and the dish overall is perfect for warming you up on cold days. You can tell the soup's been boiled with bones for a long time because of how white the broth is, and the quality is pretty good. Sullungtang has been a pick-me-up kind of meal for ages; just got home from a trip? Go get Sullungtang. Feeling a little sick? Sullungtang. Too cold out, too tired, whatever is getting you down, Sullungtang helps. (Of course, this may just be a biased Korean opinion!) They don't offer many side dishes, however, the kimchi here is so delicious. Kimchi is kind of seasonal, so I don't even know how they manage to have it tasting this good year-round, but I love it. The food comes out extremely quickly, so definitely come here if you want a quick meal. Service is good, too, because the restaurant is so tiny. One negative is the parking lot. It's very tiny and most days, you're required to valet park. I've been lucky enough to come right before the lunch/dinner rush, but the valet area can get really backed up. read more

I never left a rating or review for a restaurant but this must be said. I don't what it is but as the reviews before food proportions has gotten smaller and the taste of the food is terrible. The food taste like it was instant sullungtang and yookgaejang looked like left over vegetables just tossed in and boiled with broth. The waiters especially one of them are so rude and do not know how to do their job. They do not know how to take one simple order. They put in the order for beendaedduk instead of yookgaejang and later when confronted had the nerve to pount fingers and have an attitude. When given the check the waitress and waiters were so busy getting ready I waited for a good 15 minutes for someone to give me my card back but walked up to the cash register is when they decided to ring me up. It was sitting on top of the counter while they were talking amongst themselves. The cashier apparently was not trained on how to use the cash register. It took him another 10 minutes to even ring me up while we were just standing there. Another couple that gave their pay after us was already given back their credit card while we were still waiting to even get ringed up. Overall the food was terrible tasted like food that wasn't fresh and microwaved. Employees were rude and not trained well enough. They don't know how to say their thank yous nor how to say sorry. I know they are "known" for their sulungtang, but both this location and the nyc location in the middle k-town are... forgettable. For a place that "specializes" in sulungtang, their kimchi far surpasses it. It's over priced (for a comfort food that really shouldn't be overpriced - or cost much to make) and the kimchi is fricken amazing, but thats all the side dishes you get.. Appetizers are small, bibimbaps are smaller.. meh. Might as well go to a general Korean restaurant and order sulungtang if you're craving it. read more

So I've conceded to giving this restaurant 3 stars. I have a deep seeded aversion to this restaurant because in the past (like years ago) I've gotten sick multiple times eating here and realized it must be from an overdose of MSG in their food. Friends and family always suggest this place and my body has a reflex muscle memory gag....the body does not forget past pain! However, last night I got in late from a flight and there's not many options open in Fort Lee past 10pm... To be objective, my parents love this place. But I'm still healing past scars so for now, I'll just give it 3 stars. I will concede that I'm a little more open to this restaurant as an option going forward so maybe, ever so slowly, my rating will change.
